Pushing the button does nothing because the redstone attached to it's block is already powered.
I made a trap. Players think they are about to go on an adventure on an SMP server but in reality they just fall into lava.
*First stage is just TNT. Next stage is piston work*
It is EXTREMELY basic redstone wiring but I am really new to it so its good for me.

It was so funny, later on I was down there carving out a view room so I could see people burn and saw 3 people fall in with amazing reactions.
Hey, I'm in this video! This is when I was stuck in the Nether and the only way out was for me to die a horrible death in the lava (Not the same lava from your trap). :v:
This worked with the mod pistons, and there is a SMP and SSP mod (orignal pistons mod) which reenables this
Pistons would be so much more straightforward if they worked like that.
Sup guys, I posted a double-piston pusher trap earlier in this thread,
and it was pretty well received but people suggested I try to conceal it and change it up a bit.
So I did

This time it's concealed and works like an actual trap
Only problem is that I've proven it's physically impossible to build a fully functional one that's fully concealed
Watch the end
Where is that drill from?
Glimmar's steampunk.
I took a few texpacks, made some textures, and tossed 'em all together.

Fun video, you could probably make it retract if you used a clock to make the second pistons activate again after the first has retracted, see the video on that 4x4 door that was on a couple of pages back and repurpose the device used to time the pistons.
End reminded me of this:
WHAT AM I MINING FOR?!
I've got an annoying problem which is probably super easy to solve but is pissing me off to no end.
I'm trying to create a sticky piston that pushes another sticky piston that's holding a wood block.
Wood
sPiston2
sPiston1
I can get the timing right so sPiston2 retracts with the wood and sPiston1 retracts after that but then the wood is left floating in the air until both pistons are extended again.
The problem happens in mu ha ha's video but I don't understand how he solves it.

Any help is appreciated.
Make a Redstone Sequencer and connect the first output to the bottom piston and the second one to the top one. Look on Youtube if you don't know how to make one.

That still wont retract the block of wood though.
I thought a piston ontop a piston will deactivate before the piston below it because of some powering bug. Or was that patched in 1.7.3?

Could you make a mock-up example of that and post it as a response to mine?
That's be pretty interesting, thanks.
So, this is what came out of my "Practical Piston Uses" project.
First time I've ever done anything on single player (really!), but CowThing came and helped me with the final stages. Thanks!

I finished my auto nether portal thing, this time it's working correctly:

I'm trying to create a door.
I made a tutorial on... I don't know what it's called.
But basically, it's one of those machines that pushes one piston up, makes it extend, retract, then pulls it back down.

It actually took me a long time to realize how simple that really was.

I like how he says ''if you didn't like the characters, you can simply go here and change them"
like if it was the simplest thing in the world. :v:

Heres a gif i made that should explain it (if you can see anything)

I re-made yours but its able to retract, im uploading the video now
How to I rig a line of adjacent pistons to extend at the same time?

Thanks a metric ton
But stop being so good with redstone
Seriously it isn't even fair anymore

There's a few ways.
I made an image to show them since that question pops up a lot.

In the torch example, circuit on = pistons closed. Also the torch can be anywhere next to the piston for the torch one, you could have it behind it or above it and it would work.
edit: since I already have a post here may as well cross post from the chat thread

Not as much as I had hoped, but it's still better than anything I've done before.
Me and a friend have been working on this for awhile. But have moved onto a new project now.

With the lava lighting, instead of using a piston for each lava, use 1 piston for the whole row and another to push it back? :v:

Aw you did it in MC Edit? I mean I suppose it was a bit ridiculous to expect you to build this legitimately but I actually thought that at first and it blew my mind... aw well, still pretty amazing to see in action.
