Ok, there hasn't been a post for 13 hours, and I haven't seen anything on how to start a rapid pulsar for some time, so I thought I'd share my compact 3x3x2 contraption for starting a rapid-pulsar with a button. It uses pistons, and could be used for other creations by other people so I feel it's relevant to the thread. It's more reliable than placing/removing a piece of redstone dust, at the very least. ... I guess I'll post this here too. Not very Piston oriented, but it shows off a use for my pulsar start/stop, and there's a couple pistons involved soooo... here ya go
This thread should be called piston inventions. Not creations.
I think they mean the same thing.

Invention usually goes to things that are fairly technical, and sometimes denotes of tedious tinkering to get it to work right. Creation is generally used for things that are creative/artistic, sometimes things that you made as a byproduct or accident. Still, it doesn't really matter. For regular people, redstone is a creative endeavor, and it only gets really technical when you start learning real-life circuitry.

fuck it
Made a neat little escape route out of my base: [t]http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1652/javaw2011081017523045.png[/t] Behind this painting there is a little room [t]http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/5056/javaw2011081017524120.png[/t] This switch holds the door open [t]http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/2154/javaw2011081017524856.png[/t] When it is closed a piston is released opening up a little hole [t]http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/5320/javaw2011081017525666.png[/t] There is another switch below the hole to activate the piston permanently
the painting is obvious though, I would check there first looking for a secret
Put it behind a curtain of lava that you have to jump through. Then do the same thing everywhere in your house, so nobody knows which ones have a wall on the other side
Well of course the painting is obvious, it is just visually pleasing. I only just added in the piston.
I've seen a lot of videos lately making huge as fuck complicated wiring for making piston elevators. If i got anything right, the tricky part is reversing the delay so that they retract in the right order. I just have one question. Why the fuck has no-one thought of using minecarts? :v: Too lazy to upload a video of it, but It's fairly simple. [editline]10th August 2011[/editline] Minecarts are underrated when it comes to redstone circuitry, they can prove very handy
anyone else think that pistons should be able to push mine-carts on a track? Like if you want to push the cart onto a powered track without having to make a sloped track so it would be easier to start the cart.

I was trying to do an OR-gate with pistons then my brain woke up and I felt like sniffing some glue.
I was trying to do an OR-gate with pistons then my brain woke up and I felt like sniffing some glue.
You mean people don't make their OR gates like this? an and gate would be cool with buttons, so you have two people hit separate buttons at the same time to trigger an event. timing on my server would be horrible though, lag hits so hard that it takes 30 seconds on bad occasions just to say "oh god am I lagging?"

Also so people don't have to be exact with the button press.
Less nerd shit, more cool piston inventions!

Alright FP, I need help, because I have no idea how to make this work. Basically, what I want is a hidden stairway. I don't want to make the stairway move or anything, I just want to cover it up. I have three wood blocks (The three under the three bookshelves) attached to sticky pistons. What I want to to is make it so I can have a lever both above ground and underground with the ability to control the piston floor. So the other would be here: Just so both levers could open and close from either the top or the bottom. I've tried experimenting and I've gotten nowhere. Please help?
Use an XOR gate. Look up a tutorial on YouTube.
You need an XOR gate. Ninjaaaa

The only gate I ever looked up and used is the AND-gate. I just make up everything I use on my own. For instance, if I want to make it so that you can open it on both sides, I just make a path from the outside button redstone to go to the same place as where the inside button starts.
