I think salt fits more with sand than it does with the nether. And needles fit more with the nether.
Perhaps, but if the cactus is going to be a pile of needles it would make more sense on needles than on salt. Also, I just think needles would look more fitting by the blood water. While at the same time a lot of people have suggested salt as forms of different things you can find in the nether. [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] Either way... although sand is more similar to salt, it just doesn't look that fitting around all that blood. Needles would in my opinion just seem more natural in that context. At the same time I could agree that nether being completely made of salt too probably might not look that well being near the lava... so it's probably a good idea to make that idea "Hell" inspired and let the lava be lava with a Meatboy look, while just using certain rare things in the nether as salt.

Let's try something different...
For the ores why don't you just change the "inside" part of the rock to the color of the ore? Also I think the cobblestone would look better if it didn't look like metal panels.
Try out how sand would look if it was needles instead, and the cactus didn't have see-through parts. With nether not being made entirely of salt, instead being based of Hellworld, with only certain block types as salt :v: [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] I hope I don't sound too bossy, design just catches my interest easily.

Although it doesn't quite work on cacti with the transparent parts and all. :v: Progress on lava. On screenshot it looks cool, but for some reason when it's flowing it's like it's on steroids. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Minecraft%20Screenshots/2011-04-11_12.07.15.png[/t] [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] :barf: [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/764206/Minecraft%20Screenshots/2011-04-11_12.12.55.png[/t] Off to work... If someone is skilled with texturing and thinks he's able to do the mobs for me, that'd be great, since I doubt I'll be able to do that myself. Maybe I'll try to work on the in-game screens for a bit when I get back home. Plan is to make the item slots look like 'level buttons'.
There was a lot of fire in the background of the first boss and cutscenes if I remember right, perhaps you could replace the fire texture with that. This is unrelated to your official pack but, perhaps you could make the default character skin look more like the Meatboy themed Mr. Minecraft?
Lava looks really awesome! Also, for the cacti texture, make a very dark background which fills the entire tile. Then, make needles on top of this background
I haven't played super meat boy but I really love all the creative solutions in this. The way i always think when replacing something is what its functions are in the game, rather then what its originally supposed to be... take gravel for example: compared to sand it's less common, more dangerous (when digging up as it has no sandstone as warning) and it sometimes drops something that can be used as part of a projectile or something that you set fires with. sand on the other hand is very common, at the bottom theres is a special sort of "rock", something that hurts you grows on top of it and it can be smelted into another block see if you completely ignore what the block originally is meant to be and just look at its functions it might be easier to figure out what to replace it with
I made Mr Minecraft, you can have it for your pack if you want :v:

I can't replace all blocks simply by their looks because the games are not identical. Super Meat Boy doesn't have chests or a workbench, for example, but Minecraft doesn't have the awesome sawblades everywhere. :v: [editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
I made Mr Minecraft, you can have it for your pack if you want :v: [img_thumb]http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l189/Simski_2006/MrMinecraft-1.png?t=1302534703[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l189/Simski_2006/MrMinecraft-2.png?t=1302534809[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/files/assets/000/071/052/header_wide/mr-minecrafts-blocky-super-meat-boy-debut-header.jpg?1288824298[/img_thumb]
I'll consider it when I get to the mobs. Going to finish the textures first. :v: [editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
Lava looks really awesome! I'll give it a try later, since needles are an excellent idea.
i made this: i made another one that was the same size as the original (I think) but in game it just looks like this: ._.

I didn't even try with the logo. God knows why they decided to split it up at just beyond half. Even though there's empty space to the right of the logo.

The dirt really doesn't look very good. The rocks don't tile very well, makes it look pretty bad in my opinion. Anything you can do to make the rocks/dirt look better?
I'm now a little late for work as I felt it necessary to make this:
Replace the portal teleportation sound with the "WAAAAARP ZOOOONE" sound.
I like it but change the diamond texture. It just doesn't fit.
Actually, what you could do is put a bunch of smaller, colored(based on the ore) bandages on them.
Replace the portal teleportation sound with the "WAAAAARP ZOOOONE" sound.
Definitely planned if I can find out how. I've got the sound, at least. Portal texture is also planned, if I know how to, at least. guess I'll delete mine then yours is better anyhow
i dont want to bother u but can u put the link of the texture pack as long as u have it until now?

It's looking awesome so far.
Ghasts need to be those fucking annoying flying fish things from the rapture
I haven't played Minecraft in forever because Notch is a faggot. I could give this a reboot though; I should still have all the files. But I'll need help with some textures, since I'm no artist; I just know what sprite would seem best for what texture. First thing I'll do when I get home is get a list of textures I'll absolutely need to consider this texture pack usable. I'll post some ideas for it along with it, but I can't do everything myself. (Take for example my attempt at the cactus :suicide:) [editline]17th August 2011[/editline] So, if anyone here thinks he has what it takes, feel free to 'claim' a texture, so to say. Again, when I get home I'll compile a list of stuff that needs to be done. I think blood as water doesn't fit too well, as the blood is deadly, but the water isn't. Just normal water with the same art style would work better. The crumbly wall stuff from The Forest (note level 1-20) might make good sand.
Could someone do this. I don't have the technical know how and this texture pack had potential.
Spread the word? The Facepunch Collab for example had a bunch of good textures.
I think blood as water doesn't fit too well, as the blood is deadly, but the water isn't. Also, snow is blood as well, and snow isn't deadly either. Gravel is already the crumbly wall stuff, and it wouldn't look good on shores, IMO.
I think just adding a bit more noise to the salt would make it look better.
make ghasts black hole crocodiles
