If I remember right, the background has to be a tiling 16x16 px image.
Sorry, but I don't think I'll work on this anymore. Maybe when Minecraft releases a big update that is able to interest me, but otherwise, feel free to take it over. Or if someone is able to do a few textures that aren't done yet, or that could be improved, feel free to post it in this thread. I'll merge it with the current texture pack.
Are there plans to include the maggot-things from The Rapture? I'd suggest somewhere in the Nether, maybe as lava, but SMB has lava too.
