I think that when TF2 was going for the realistic approach (and was vaporware) VALVe considered having a Commander on each team.
Is onos still not added to the game? O:
I really want to eat some marines
[editline]10th June 2011[/editline]
I hope onos has transparent bellies so that when you're eaten as marines you can look out from the sides and people can see you being digested
Nope, Onos is not yet in the game. It'll be most likely patched in with the heavies and miniguns.
By the way, that belly thing sounds like a really cool idea.
They scrapped the eating ability for the Onos and gave him a team buff screech i believe. I read it on the forums awhile ago
The Onos is going to have the Primal Scream ability like the Lerk did in Natural Selection.
However, some people on the forum are asking for the Devour ability to return in NS2.
Aw... Well the devour ability was kinda cheap in NS1 so I can sort of agree with the change.
Also if anyone with nvidia has trouble like stuttering when loading sounds, models or when walking about, I fixed mine by setting "Maximum pre-rendered frames" in nvidias control panel (3D-Settings) to 0.
I really liked devour and I can see why so many would like to have it back.
On the other hand, we haven't yet seen a single one of Onos' new abilities.
Last time I played it was really scary actually. We walked into a room with emergency lightning on and one by one, we got picked off by the aliens. :ohdear:
OP: The videos you posted aren't showing up, because NS2HD has somehow managed to delete a heap of his videos. They're back up now though.
Can't wait for proper infestation.

Thanks for the heads-up. They're fixed now.
I managed to get this game for free a couple of months ago as someone had a spare copy, never played it really though.
I can't play NS2 yet, it's too laggy :(.
Even though my PC can handle Crysis on high.
This looks awesome I'll definitely buy it when I can.
It's definitely worth it if you like more team oriented gameplay. Rambo-ing in this game will get you dead fast.
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
And people are surprisingly team friendly in the beta even though a lot of people are not using mics
I like NS2 because it's built around real teamplay, unlike most contemporary shooters out there like Bad Company 2 for example.
It's made very clear early on that if you do not work together and move as a team, you'll just die and there's no point playing.
Rambo players are frowned upon in this game.
Played some more and liked it. The only problem with the game right now the horrible lag even with low ping (it wasn't FPS lag). That could've been because the marines were spamming sentry guns though.

Also the game always puts me on aliens, I have yet to be marines.
the current issue with the game is more server side though... you have to get on a very good server with 10 or less players or it will lag
if you are stuttering i recommend lowering the texture quality/resolution it helps a lot
Some one finally made a thread! Good deal.
I love this game.

Everyone one the server was getting lag but I may need to end up doing that even on my high end machine. The player limit was 10 and I believe it was full.
But again there were rooms just fucking filled with sentries facing all directions, and you could probably blame me for that. As a skulk I would just leap behind their command center thing and hack at it from there. Once their commander came out and I killed him. After that they tried to not have a commander and put sentries everywhere.
How have I never heard of this?!?!?
This looks awesome.
I just want to hear Gabe saying "very nice" in his flat casual voice.
Some one finally made a thread! Good deal.

there has actually been threads on this previously but they never seem to catch on
I check up on this every now and then, I will jump in when you can have twenty player games and lag issues are fixed.
Been sort of forgetfully interested for quite some time now...
Does it have a release timeframe?
Commander mode sounds similar to the commander in the Empires mod. This looks really good.
this looks just like tremulous but prettier
Commander mode sounds similar to the commander in the Empires mod. This looks really good.
more like the commander mod in Empires is similar to the commander mode in NS1 >.>
speaking of which, are there any NS1 servers still kicking around? i'd re-install HL1 just to play it again
This looks pretty sweet, will consider getting this.
Oh man, I can remember playing the first NS for hours on end. NS2 is shaping up quite nicely too. Can't wait for its proper release.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall hearing this game is suppose to be fully complete early 2012? Also pre-ordered this game months ago and the progress they have made since is outstanding

Call me crazy, but I think they may be going for a Halloween 2011 release. They released NS1 on Halloween 2000, so it seems plausible. Plus, UWE just hired two more programmers.
