Stop.
Please.
Thanks.
Don't reply to this, I know you want to.
Just stop.
It's totally ok for you to reply as long as you tell me not to reply. No hypocracy at all, provoking the situation even more is totally in line.
Oh and please don't reply to this.

I'll use this for the Steam group for awhile until you change it if you decide to do so.

Here is the URL for the steam group

On second thought, it looks ugly on the steam group icon. Need a higher res one. I'll try the other ones out if it looks better.
Yeah the icons need a higher res. It gets too stretched on the front page.
Cool, joined.
I was watching the preview/interview on the Xbox Live Dashboard and seriously...if you don't see that this is a terrible Battlefield ripoff, kill yourself now.
"The play area is good because once you capture objectives the map will expand, going to a new set of objectives."
There are several other quotes he said that I found hilarious because he made it seem like it was something completely new. How the fuck can a developer waste all their time making the same exact game? I really don't get it.

Oh look, it's THIS post again.....
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
Please read the thread before replying. Because in all honesty, we don't give a flying fuck if it's a CoD/Battlefield ripoff. Yes games set in modern times are all ripoffs of each other, we get it.

Yeah except Battlefield didn't come up with that idea either and Battlefield is about the Conquest mode, not Bad Company's dumb Rush mode.
In the end, it's a modern shooter. They're all kind of samey. Surprisingly, they're all going to have somewhat similar modes (because they are forced to be somewhat realistic), real guns, somewhat realistic gun + knife animations, human like movement on their characters, vehicles of some nature, ETC.
People just need to chill, there are actually quite a lot of similarities between Battlefield and CoD in the first place, but what separates them from each other is the little extras, the game mechanics, and the nuances, that gives CoD the Arcade Shooter pacing and Battlefield the slower more teamwork based pacing. You'd be dumb to say Homefront doesn't have any nuances (Battle Commander + Battle Points will be a pretty big deal, especially drones), we don't know it's exact game mechanics yet to say whether it'll be more arcadey or more slow and teamworky, and stuff.
I've not even played it, just watched all the footage they've put out, and I'm not even going to buy it until next Saturday to check reviews and what not, just being smart and giving it a fair chance. There really isn't a lot of room to do new stuff in the Modern Shooter genre and still be a somewhat realistic modern shooter.
Hurrdurr CoD hurrdurr Battlefield
Okay, we fucking get it as I've said, we get it that it reminds people of Battlefield and CoD but guess what, both of those games are fun and a mix of them couldn't hurt to try either right? Who cares about the knife animation, it does its job right?
Seriously, shut the hell up about it.
Can't wait for this game.
Written by John Milius? Fuck yea.

I'm not expecting the story to be good, the companion novel is REALLY bad. It's very funny to read though. If the game has a story half as bad as that novel it'll still be comedy gold.
So the novel is bad eh?
So the novel is bad eh?
Bad is being too nice.
At that moment Walker was struck by how naturally lovely she was. Her large brown eyes exhibited intelligence and wit, and her full lips betrayed a hint of desire. She was taller than him by an inch or so and he hoped that didn't matter to her. Her fingers on his recently-shaved face felt wonderful.
"Tell me about you, Kelsie. Are you from Vegas?"
"No, not originally. Believe it or not, I'm from Houston, Texas."
"You don't have a Texas accent."
"Nah, I lost it somewhere after we moved. When I was twelve, my dad lost his job and we started moving around a lot. I think I must have lived in fifteen different states in the next six years. As soon as I turned eighteen, I left. We were in Chicago at the time. But I graduated from high school, even though I spent it going to six different schools, and I went to college at MIT."
"MIT! Jesus, are you some kind of genius? One of those Mensa chicks?"
"Now that's a pick-up line!" she snorted endearingly. Walker loved the way the skin around her eyes crinkled when she laughed. "No, no, I'm no genius. Well, I mean, I earned good grades and was on scholarship, if that counts. That was the only way I could go to MIT."
"What did you study? Quantum physics?"
"Dream on. Electrical engineering."
"You're kidding."
She shook her head and smiled wryly. "And here I am dealing blackjack at a casino in Las Vegas."
e: im serious it's very bad
Didn't captivate me at all. Hard to believe it's the same author as the Bond novells and Metal Gear ones, atleast according to the cover of it.
Well the guy wrote the newer James Bond books as well as the tie ins for some of them so....
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
Maybe Milius will be better at script writing rather than descriptive.

Thanks for making this even more confusing. Sad part is you're buying the same game. May I ask why?
Because it looks fun?
It's the same fun as Battlefield/CoD/MoH.
Waste your money on this game so the devs can make a profit and continue to serve you shit on a plate.
this looks so god damn shitty
just another mw2

Lucky me I didn't buy Marvel vs Capcom 3, a fighter game I'd stop playing after a few days anyhow.
We need a sticky for not posting in game threads just to bash it.

Aren't group pictures the same size as avatars (184x184)? Because if so it should be the exact size.
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
yeah according to Steam it's 184x184, I think Steam just gets a kick out of compression-raping everything

Since, I'm getting tired of seeing these posts, I am going to actually inform you why it isn't like MW2, Battlefield or Medal of Honor.
First off, Battle Points are different from your normal XP system. You can spend them on the fly on the battlefield which will really depend on your strategies alone as you choose to whether spend it on lesser things or save up.
Second, this combines the gameplay mechanics of both close quarters combat similar to CoD and the vehicular warfare of Battlefield. Not a lot of games have tried this formula so it is nice to see Homefront try it out.
Third, people's arguments about "HURR SAME GAMPLAYY DURR" I really can't think of anything to radically change how we play modern shooters. At least Homefront is varying strategies for modern shooters which is exemplified in the BP system and vehicles. It's rather difficult to revolutionize "Shoot guy = guy dead" gameplay which is one of the main reasons why people play modern shooters is just to see the guy die with a realistic looking gun.
I feel like its futile trying to explain Homefront but I just wanted to get that off my chest.
Anyways, looking forward to its release next week.
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
And MW2 on its own is a pretty good game but the unbalanced nature of the multiplayer was what ruined it. At least this is a new ip and not just another rehash like Black Ops.

Well he wrote Red Dawn and I love that movie.
" i sit back and rate dumb/disagree on all the intelligent argument posts and then flame the game and people buying it because im a contributor to facepunch threads :xd:"
if you don't like the game, leave the thread about the game.

What do you mean "he's playing shitty games?" Clearly we've all played Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, or Battlefield before. Why would I tell you you have bad taste when we obviously like and play the same games. Battlefield + Call of Duty = Homefront, therefore we both are interested in the same things.
And it is not an opinion, you're playing another generic modern-day shooter. Have fun being in servers flooded with 12 year olds "check out my montage where all i use is the m16, legit shit". HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT SEE THIS?
I had to edit this and make the last part capitalized.

Ohh, you called them "BATTLE POINTS" instead of XP, so convincing!
So basically, battle points are kill streaks in disguise that get you bonuses? SAVE UP, and you'll be able to call in the chopper!
I'm sorry, but you're a fucking idiot.

You want something that's radically changing? Stop forcing yourself to play a shooter and get some variety in the games you play, moron.
(User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - Craptasket))
How about you all take a chill pill? People like what they want, and we don't need another 'welcome to the internet' joke. If you think Homefront's another generic modern-day shooter, all's fine and well, but when you turn around and start cursing people out, it just makes unnecessary drama and arguments.
Personally, I see the game as a generic shooter myself, but at least the creators are being modest about what they're trying to emulate. And generic or not, if it's fun, it's fun. I'll probably end up just Youtubing the storyline though.

You clearly have not even taken the time in getting to know the mechanics of the game. You earn Battle Points for about anything you do. So that means you don't even need to be killing to gain points to earn vehicle rewards. Maybe you aren't the shooting kind and you'd rather help teammates by using a drone for UAV support. You have a choice on what to do and you aren't limited to just killing to earn rewards.
Also, the Battle Commander is the AI 'General' that gives specific players specific missions to help them get more Battle Points and balance out the good players with bad players. So, a certain amount of bad players might have be given the same mission to take out the good player.
You want something that's radically changing? Stop forcing yourself to play a shooter and get some variety in the games you play, moron.
When did I say I want something radically changed. Please read my sentence again. I said you cannot radically change the modern shooter genre to please all of you who are tired of seeing the same shit that modern shooters pull off these days. Homefront at least tries to vary it with the new mechanics they have introduced in the game.
Ignore TizzYcho. All he does is take a shit on games that have some aspects from other popular games. According to his logic, every game needs to bring something entirely new, innovative, completely out of the ordinary, and needs to revolutionize the gaming industry.
Seriously pal, grow up and get that pole out of your ignorant ass. Just because a game takes some aspects from others, doesn't mean they're crappy and impossible to have fun in because you already played something similar. You recently bashed Crysis 2 just because it has similar aspects to CoD. Maybe if you actually played the game you would realize that it plays nothing like CoD via the Nanosuit.
Oh I bought Battlefield 2 and a older CoD a fair amount of years ago, I guess that means I have no other reason to buy any other new games because I obviously experienced it all in this game. /sarcasm
I'm sorry but it looks like you're the fucking idiot.
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
That's all TizzYcho? Nothing but a funny rating? Looks like I won that argument without even needing to hear your response.
