If this is anything like the game "Freedom Fighters", they have my money. But the multiplayer footage sort of kills the hype in me for some reason. Not sure why.
I can assure you this game will be great.
Maybe because Kaos Studios thinks that American-made weapons are associated with a high-tech, world-class military force, which the North Korean forces are in Homefront. I hope there's the "dark side" of resistance fighting, you know, like executing "enemy sympathizers" and some stuff in the setting to show that American "freedom fighters" aren't so different from the Taliban and Iraqi insurgents.
Hmm, time to make another movie about the invasion of the US. [editline]11th January 2011[/editline] Does anyone know if the player limit is over 32? I know its that on the consoles but I'm not sure about it on the PC
Looks incredibly uninteresting, in my opinion. You are a resistance fighter yet your melee attack is still a super fast knife stab just like in CoD and BC2 and Medal of Honor. Couldn't they have added something to complement the fact that you are part of the resistance, like punching Koreans with your bare fists or rifle butting? (talking about the singleplayer) The gameplay and story better be top notch because right now there isn't really a lot that differentials this from every other modern shooter. I'll be waiting for a demo.

If not, then it all just degrades to your typical COD-style 'American crusader butchering Demon commies'.
I have great hopes for this game, the Multiplayer looks like a blast!.
I have great hopes for this game, the Multiplayer looks like a blast!.
It looked like a combination of Call of Duty, ARMA II, and Battlefield to me. Apparently, the combat is supposed to be realistic but fast-paced: no crosshairs and bunny-hopping, but no leg-shot-kills.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1027917-Homefront-Written-by-that-guy-who-wrote-Red-Dawn? !
Pfffft fuck that shit I beat everyone http://www.facepunch.com/threads/952281-Homefront-North-Korea-Vs.-USA?highlight=
Really hoping to play this game. Hopefully they'll do a beta test for it before it comes out.
While homefront looks fucking awesome, I doubt a lot that the story will truly make the player sad, hell I might as well enjoy seeing those Korean Baddies get set on fire.
Maybe because Kaos Studios thinks that American-made weapons are associated with a high-tech, world-class military force, which the North Korean forces are in Homefront.
The Republic of Korea has a number of M16A1s and A2s
The Republic of Korea has a number of M16A1s and A2s
But don't we use M16A4s?
The Republic of Korea has a number of M16A1s and A2s
In theory, if Best Korea took over South Korea, as they do in the game, they'd have access to numerous NATO weapons, including American M-16s.
Getting a free copy at work. This game looks awesome.
This doesn't seem very interesting to be honest. Looks like the level in MW2 when Russia invade America.
The Republic of Korea has a number of M16A1s and A2s
And somehow the Greater Korean Republic thought it would be better to modify its military logistics system to fit 5.56mm NATO ammo and AR-15s instead of procuring more tried and true Warsaw Pact small arms and ammo?
It may not show a dark side of the resistance, but apparently, the game will give you the option to work with the Korean Occupation Forces, so that'll at least put some darkness on the resistance.
Awesome. Let's see how well the player working for the the other side can bring stability to a chaotic America.
In game they do have their own rifles and not just m16s. But it does bring up the question why they use those m16s. If the US has m16a4s wouldn't they swap for them instead of the older models. [editline]11th January 2011[/editline] Also its just concept art.
Apparently, Half-Life 2 had major influence on on this game's design, so I have my hope up.
Apparently, Half-Life 2 had major influence on on this game's design, so I have my hope up.
Let's hope the main character isn't a mute.
Let's hope the main character isn't a mute.
Why not?
Why not?
Try leading a guerrilla squad and being unable to talk. And I doubt guerrillas, usually just civilians armed with crappy weapons, can understand military hand signals.
One of the supposed points of the game is to wage guerilla warfare upon a conventional invading force, but as of yet, I haven't seen much gameplay that offered anything different from most modern war-themed FPSes today. The core combat basically looks like CoD with vehicles.
Thread title should have read, "When Best Korea Invades."
This doesn't seem very interesting to be honest. Looks like the level in MW2 when Russia invade America.
That's what it's supposed to look like, Typical suburbs :frogdowns:

You also had to make sure that you didn't waste any of your high value items like RPG rockets or sniper rifle ammunition. Most of the combat revolved around setting ambushes and on the missions where you conducted "conventional" actions, you would have to get your ass out after completion to avoid enemy reinforcements, leaving you with only limited time to loot ammo boxes and dead bodies. Oh, did you lose some men too? They'll be gone for good and any little replacements that you get are rookies.

One of the things that bugged me the most when watching one of the gameplay videos was seeing the player control a UAV, replete with high-tech gadgetry and all that other nonsense. It didn't jive at all with the idea of fighting as a guerilla force. I'd be much more fond of a system where the player is instead forced to find ways to remotely assail the enemy. Having the level sprawling with resources that the player can utilize to form together whatever object he can come up with in a sandbox-like medium would be awesome, like being able to strap high-explosives to farm animals with ducktape and charge them into groups of unsuspecting soldiers and detonating them shortly afterwards.
I'm Glad the developers came out of the closest and stopped using overrated Russians as villains. I actually hate North Koreans in real life, which is why I will enjoy killing them.
not going to buy this one. give me a game where we get to play as the commies/aliens/zombies/robots and i'll give that a spin, not going to support another bland clone of the same old "WOOO USA" shooters.
Story is from the guy that did Red Dawn? :iia:
