I hate to say it, but while Homefront looked promising, it seems Black Ops is gonna steal my money from me next week. :smith:
No no no no no! Please don't make that mistake
I hate to say it, but while Homefront looked promising, it seems Black Ops is gonna steal my money from me next week. :smith:
Hmm, good luck, I get about 40 fps on black ops and horrible stutters, the menu freezes for 20 seconds at a time, and the dropshotting "skill" kiddies and "420 bros" make up a horrible community.
Honestly, they announced it was going to be a ?-10 hour game, the singleplayer, so it's rediculous people are complaining about how short it is. I've seen this more as a multiplayer game from the first time I saw beta footage..
When they said that I thought it was 6-10+ for one play-though, not 6-10 for all 3 difficulties and hidden papers. Then again Kaos is more of a multi-player bent studio so I guess its ok.

Multiplayer is surprisingly good.
As if Homefront is any better (from what I hear?)
Yes, the MP is.
All this talk about terrible PC optimization is making me want to buy it for PS3 instead. I wouldn't have been able to run it anyway.
In single player during the opening transport scene, I jumped when the running man got shot. Scared the fuck out of me because I knew it was going to happen, I just didn't know when
Yes, the MP is.
Well, I never said the MP was bad. It looks great actually, but it seems that it doesn't have much progress length like Bad Company 2 (getting to Rank 50 seems to take ages.) Besides, still on the fence: Homefront might not run on my rig, even though a game like Bulletstorm shares the same specs as Homefront and runs fine on my computer.
As if Homefront is any better (from what I hear?)
Only major problem with the game is the short single player. Multiplayer is great and the story is amazing though it needed to be longer and not so rushed. Because of a few faults it keeps this gaming from being truly amazing. I still hope for a sequal with the things they fucked up on being fixed but with the same amazing story.
Spoilers, much?
multiplayer is a boss. but i am having serious FPS problems, i get higher FPS on crysis 2 maxed, than on this game, i hope they patch this..
I mostly buy games like that for the multiplayer, so no real spoilers. I still might give the singleplayer a try at some point if I do ever get it. I just don't know what to choose though.
I mostly buy games like that for the multiplayer, so no real spoilers.
Speak for yourself. :colbert:
I beat the singleplayer in under 3 hours... The beginning almost made me cry, then ending was alright -- was something I wasn't expecting, but it was too short winded and needed to be more...Sentimental. Just started playing multiplayer and I'm already convinced that the dumbasses who called it a BF2/CoD ripoff are just plain retarded.
The part with the little kid screaming...that just about did it for me. :frown: [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Also, on Xbox, it's saying the Multiplayer servers are unavailable.
i was enjoying the multiplayer until i saw a enemy spawn right in my face and when i killed him i got a spawn kill medal or whatever wtf
Anyone else having issues connecting online? I haven't been able to play a single multiplayer game yet. It keeps saying the Servers are Unavailable.
Anyone else having issues connecting online? I haven't been able to play a single multiplayer game yet. It keeps saying the Servers are Unavailable.
xbox servers are pretty borked up ive only manged to join one game of the 32 man gamemode but none for tdm :\
xbox servers are pretty borked up ive only manged to join one game of the 32 man gamemode but none for tdm :\
Huzzah, the reason I bought the game, and I can't even play. :frown:
I'd be willing to give multiplayer another try if I didn't keep losing connections to servers. So far I keep getting killed by people all the way across the map, disconnected, or a combination of the two. Not very enjoyable.
To anyone on PC who gets fake counters, after you load all of the servers, change the filters on the right to max players 32 and minimum to like somewhere between 6-32. It filters out all the fake ones and actually gives you servers that have people that otherwise wouldn't show up if you hadn't adjusted the filters.
So the general consensus is that this game is mediocre at best. :smithicide: [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Still haven't been able to download the game (on account of slow, limited internet), yet Steam decided to go ahead and do it without me, and before I know it my internet usage allowance is gone.
Machinima gave it an 8/10 saying that the sound was off and that the graphics were dated. I agree with them on these points and on what they had to say about multiplayer.
Unique mechanics and maps make the game feel like the sexy love child of Counter-Strike and Battlefield.
Not much information on the Homefront forums, except some podcast from a guy at THQ saying they were not going to have any problems on launch day because they would most definitely have more than enough servers ready to go, and threads complaining about not being able to play online, along with threads complaining about the people complaining.
Since when does anyone care enough about Machinima.com's opinions for them to review games?
Since when does anyone care enough about Machinima.com's opinions for them to review games?
This is the most accurate review I have seen of Homefront so far. Every other one just calls it a cod copy and slaps a 4/10 and walks away while machinima had the balls to actually give it the score it deserves.
Just bought it guys. Thanks for putting mini-reviews up!

It seems the reason why people are rating it so low is because of the short singleplayer and just putting the great multiplayer off. If only the singleplayer was longer, it would have given a much more deserved score.
Beat Campaign in record timing.. Game was ridiculously short, but had a great storyline.
Hnnnnnnggggggg.... I have one friend that literally buys every game that has a TF2 promo and NEVER plays it. I saw he had Homefront and raged... So much money wasted FOR FUCKING PIXELS!
