So just because you think its a "poor and unoriginal game", it is?
You're an idiot. Its a matter of opinion.

Oh no, we can't buy a game we like. So sorry.
Okay, since people who come in this thread like comparing it so much to CoD, please someone give me a point-by-point comparison on why it is a CoD ripoff.

Okay well I can see how I can come across as kind of arrogant in saying this, but I really just wish that people wouldn't buy and over-praise games that are just average and don't bring anything new to the medium. Of course it won't be everyones opinion that this game isn't fun, but it's hard to deny that it's totally unoriginal.
The game's worst offence is that it takes a setting and plot that could have easily been something special, and pretty much just uses it as an excuse to rehash the CoD formula. I'm not trying to come off as an asshole to anyone who likes this game, I just kinda wish we lived in a world where people rejected stuff like this and demanded more creativity and innovation. Cause this game will sell well and spawn more clones, but no one will actually remember it a year from now.

Sounds like you're soley judging the game on the singleplayer, which was mediocre although it couldve been better, but the multiplayer stands out as fun and original in my opinion.
I got to the part in the campaign where [sp]Boone dies. Wow, good job at trying to get me attached to him, Kaos. Not.[/sp]

The gameplay and short length of the singleplayer I can understand but the opening of the game was just one of the most heartbreaking moments in gaming ever.

I'd have to disagree with that. Modern Warfare had an opening scene almost identical to that of Homefront's, except all the brutality you were witnessing in that game took place in the Middle East. If you're telling me that you found the opening of this game heartbreaking, just because the game tells you that it takes place in America, and not the Middle East, then I'm sorry but you're too easily manipulated.
Any game/movie can show you people dying and say "look, this is happening in your own backyard", but it's really nothing more than cheap exploitation, and when the game does nothing to make you feel any emotional attachment to any of the characters, there's no reason why their deaths should faze you, whether they be Arabic, Korean or American.
Also, the fact that you said you could understand me saying the gameplay was poor kind of makes me wonder why you liked this game in the first place.
Just beat the campaign. 5 hours on the dot.
Was all I expected really, except for the abrupt ending. I think the feel of it was good, but they missed a few opportunities. I think if the game was less scripted it would have improved the experience. I thought the [sp]survivalist farm[/sp] part was alright but if they made the stealth more open-ended it would have really added to the gameplay rather than Follow Connor, shoot tagged bad guy. I think the problem people have with the campaign is they got too hyped up by the pre-release blurbs about how it was going to take place in a different setting and thought it would be an entirely different experience.
The [sp]Little Bird[/sp] mission was completely badass though.

I had to actually remember the start of Modern Warfare because I had forgotten that scene. It's similar, but no where near as emotional. I won't say I cried or anything during the Homefront one, but being able to listen to people shout out and tell their children not to look as they are executed was a lot more tangible then watching 7 guys get shot in the back in Modern Warfare.

I've played MW but it doesn't have the same emotional impact like the scene in Homefront did. The fact that its in the country that I live in, it resonates me more than a country far away from home. Having a kid's parents get shoot right in front of me was.... :geno:
On the gameplay side, yeah its pretty much normal. You shoot people and you move from point to point. That's a given for any modern setting shooter. The multiplayer is where it is actually at which is why I mainly like the game.

Well, if they can't find a balance between the two then one side of the game is basically going to be a flop. It's way to early to determine what going happen with the next one. If this next one doesn't do better then i give up on the series.
Oh my god.
Why come in here if you just want to complain about something we bought.
Just beat the campaign. It was fun.
Just hit the report button then select flaming/trolling. Any mod that looks through this thread will see just that.
Played multi for 2 hours, fucking blast. Exactly as I predicted this game essentially replaces Black Ops for me as my go-to shooter. Spawns are wonky at times and snipers are really dumb, but otherwise, fantastic experience. Ground Control is such a neat mode too, lets a team come back from defeat. Highlight was when I went 35-15 on Angel Island with my silenced SMG. Got 5 star threat by just rushing around. I finally died to a sniper 1 shotting me after I slid down a hill :saddowns:
Every time I see "Ground Control", I go "to Major Tom".

Also, just got a chance to download the game.
It's, uh, still downloading.
This is taking too long.

So this game is 9GB, yet it has last-gen graphics?
:psyduck:
this thread is a prime example of why i don't get people's opinions before i buy a game
if i listened to half you nimrods i'd never buy a fucking game minus valve games again. you don't like it, that's cool, let other people make their own decisions.
edit: of course this gets page king, here come the fucking boxes ffs

I like how even if we dominate all 3 points in GC, the other team can still win even if we think we have a comfortable lead. Intense as hell, especially once every has enough BP for vehicles.

so i haven't played this game yet, but from "BP" one can assume gas is so rare that the remaining currency is BP gas stations
am I correct?

We had one game that was like that, they won the first one, we won the second, then we had a super close battle near the end. They won but it was a great fight. Each team had multiple armor and 2 attack helos each. I got proximity launcher certified firing 3 rockets :buddy:
My favorite loadout right now though is silenced SMG, EMP nades, Flak Jacket, Personal UAV, with Grizzled and Tactical Reload as my abilities.
Am I missing something? And I'm sorry, but that's how the world works, it's called "opinions". Whether you like it or not.
Going into a thread just to say it sucks is shitposting and you are just trying to get your post count up.
People are actually discussing the game and they don't appreciate you butting in to express your opinion. And why do you feel the need to express your opinion if it negatively effects the thread?
Anyone want to get together for some nice teamplay? I'm Industrial in the group, add me if you want. I live in California, so that might affect some connection stuff. I haven't really been able to find a good server to play on, and I'm still getting the hang of the game. Been really busy lately so I haven't had time to play it this week much at all.

I was hoping it wasn't like you guys said, but even on Medium settings there's really bad FPS.

Some more multiplayer gameplay and my thoughts on the multiplayer side of the game.

Also, the M16's reload animation look similar to the BC2 M16 animation (inb4homefrontisabc2ripoff). It's badass anyways.
Then what the fuck are you saying. You constantly defend the game against any criticism people have about it.
Huge 32 player maps do not makes this game special, other game do it too, and better. And while battle commander is pretty neat, the battle point idea has been around for a long time as well.
Unique scenery? What? I've I make a map that has random advertisement buildings thrown in, does that make it unique?
If they were trying to replicate anything like Americana they should have gone with a different approach. An expansion where you were blundering around the back yard, maybe not at a snails pace would have been better. I actually think the scene in MW2 where you're fighting through the suburban neighborhood (you know, the RAMIREZ RAMIREZ RAMIREZ level) captured the surreality of the scenario far better than some dirty copy paste houses, run down fast food joints or half collapsed farms.
The 'unique environments' in Homefront felt boring and could have taken place anywhere.
Their point in criticizing Homefront when they say how it borrows from the oldest shooter tropes, isn't to say how those tropes are bad, its to show how little Homefront did to distinguish itself from the pack. They expected something NEW, not a rehash.
Battlecommander is it's only real defining characteristic. Ground control and TDM? Really?
I at first read somewhere that the control points locations were going to be randomized to some extent. THAT would have been cool, as it would have teams scrabbling around the map with no one really being able to establish a predicable strategy. Would have made combat more frantic.
Instead they merely take a slightly more organized approach to the Battlefield control point idea.
TDM really isn't an excuse. That's really about as uninspired as you can get. It's fun, but ultimately boring as hell.
Reread some of your other posts and it seems like a reasonable thing to do. Main reason why people are bringing up these issues is because how heavily the game was advertised. It is easy to believe that with the knowledge of the read dawn write and some other people, they coould have been a little more creative than relying on OLD OLD tricks to tell the story.
Thank you.
