Then what the fuck are you saying. You constantly defend the game against any criticism people have about it.
Huge 32 player maps do not makes this game special, other game do it too, and better. And while battle commander is pretty neat, the battle point idea has been around for a long time as well.
Unique scenery? What? I've I make a map that has random advertisement buildings thrown in, does that make it unique?
If they were trying to replicate anything like Americana they should have gone with a different approach. An expansion where you were blundering around the back yard, maybe not at a snails pace would have been better. I actually think the scene in MW2 where you're fighting through the suburban neighborhood (you know, the RAMIREZ RAMIREZ RAMIREZ level) captured the surreality of the scenario far better than some dirty copy paste houses, run down fast food joints or half collapsed farms.
The 'unique environments' in Homefront felt boring and could have taken place anywhere.
Their point in criticizing Homefront when they say how it borrows from the oldest shooter tropes, isn't to say how those tropes are bad, its to show how little Homefront did to distinguish itself from the pack. They expected something NEW, not a rehash.
Battlecommander is it's only real defining characteristic. Ground control and TDM? Really?
I at first read somewhere that the control points locations were going to be randomized to some extent. THAT would have been cool, as it would have teams scrabbling around the map with no one really being able to establish a predicable strategy. Would have made combat more frantic.
Instead they merely take a slightly more organized approach to the Battlefield control point idea.
TDM really isn't an excuse. That's really about as uninspired as you can get. It's fun, but ultimately boring as hell.
Reread some of your other posts and it seems like a reasonable thing to do. Main reason why people are bringing up these issues is because how heavily the game was advertised. It is easy to believe that with the knowledge of the read dawn write and some other people, they coould have been a little more creative than relying on OLD OLD tricks to tell the story.
This convinced me to save my money for something more worthwhile
Just turned off ambient occlusion and now the game runs like heaven. Dunno why that would make such a difference, but this game is a blast when its going smooth.
Yeah I'll say it again, people bought into the concept way too hard. Maybe it was somewhat KAOS's fault, but what they have here is a legitimately great game, atleast on the multiplayer side, and I don't really see people giving it enough credit. It's mechanics are sound, the weapons and vehicles feel great, the damage model is unique, the netcode works pretty damn well (atleast in the 2 hours I played last night). I feel like too many people are going in with the idea for one game, playing Homefront, and being too disappointed to see some of the good things it does. I got to play last night because my computer got fixed, and I was wondering what games I should reinstall. I don't really think I can play Bad Company 2 OR Black Ops anymore, Bad Company 2 because it's laggy, floaty gun mechanics and annoying particle effects just feel like a downgrade from Homefronts smooth play. I can't play Black Ops anymore because Homefront basically replaces it on the gameplay front, but with far more tactics involved. I went in expecting a solid modern warfare game in a unique setting, and needless to say, I am not regretting my purchase. Homefront will last me well into the year waiting for Battlefield 3, and beyond if that game sucks.
I bought the game expecting a sequel to frontlines and it didn't dissapoint, simple as that.
I mean, hell, it's just good old fun, if you haven't tried it you should really give it a chance.
I changed my mind after I completed the SP and now when I have played MP more. It went from playing only when bored to play all the time. Its that much fun, well atm.

More like sucking at the game while mumbling awkwardly, and saying very little about it at all.
You didn't even bother to mention the different control schemes for flying vehicles and the benefits and drawbacks of them.
You only said 'ya its bett ten BFBC2'.
Land drones are easy as hell to use, and god damn you suck at using the buzzard.
I may upload my own gameplay vid for infantry only capabilities. Although I can't guarantee it would be quality because I have the involuntary tendency to call people who kill me faggots, although I know it was fair and square.
I'll spend a little time talking about SP, look into the armory FIRST, and then play a game to show how unbalanced the PWS Diablo is when equipped properly. Seriously, I got to expert rating with it in at most two hours. It's taken me at least two days with the M4 to get to the second highest.
And now that I've said that, I'm probably going to die a million times like Rammer showing nothing at all. We shall see.
Except for snipers. Anyone who plays a sniper in this game is irrefutably a cowardly bitch of unprecedented magnitude.
Also, for calling me and Raidyr 'worse than SPUF' you certainly use a lot of meme-shit terminology.
Also some of the camos do look absolutely terrible. You've seen the forest or swamp skin? From the world view the gun looks almost neon green. The fire dragon skin looks like they took a .jpg of fire and stretched it around the guns UV.
Ice dragon looks alright though.

Because three people represent this ENTIRE thread? :/
Why are you even in here, you are hated by literally the entirety of the thread and you're constantly saying the game is shit. If you don't like it, fuck off.

Still not sure if I'm buying this. Is the multiplayer buggy on a 360? Is it even buggy on PC (For multiplayer, I know singleplayer is)?
I'm not too bothered about singleplayer.

Yes, MP is buggy on PC. Random invisible walls blocking bullets and shit like that. Sometimes you won't be allowed into a building like what Rammer showed in his video where the drone couldn't get back through the doorway.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen, and it will almost always get you killed or fuck you up.
Oh, particularly with the 'out of bounds' kill timer. I can't tell you how many times, I've gotten back in bounds from the red, and it still counting to zero and killing me.
Once the Pc version gets severly patched it should be fine.

But the game itself is worth buying, when its patched, yes?

I really don't know. There are quite a few subtle glitches would probably be overlooked for a long time.
Such as the fucked up DoF around standard iron sites, and for some reason if you go into iron sights the gun will only fire one bullet ans stop, requiring you to click again to resume firing.
I mean, assuming they fix and rebalance EVERYTHING. Then yes in a perfect world, only for the multiplayer.
But seeing as they have already hinted at a sequel, I would either wait for that one to come out (which I won't) and for them to get their heads on right, or to take a leap of faith and hope all these things are addressed.
Will probably buy this when PC version is patched up. I rented it for the SP and I liked it.
Any way of making this game run better on my piece o' turd laptop?
I was expecting an option to, you know, turn shadows off completely.

Outside from utterly tanking graphics and killing any unnecessary resource heavy programs?
Hahaha, this game is such a bad CoD copy oh my god. Don't even try to deny it. Enjoy it all you want guys, I definitely didn't.

You are very, very late.
I asked Ian to upload a screenshot of the graphics options to see how much control we have over tweaking. Hope it helps the people who are on the fence about the game. I know I am.

I tried MP out, but the game keeps putting me on empty servers.
At least one of them had 1 person on it, but it didn't matter because everything was buggy.
Like, everything would lag out, and I would see and shoot the only other guy, and find out that the game was rendering him 40 feet away from where he actually was.
I found this for $24 on PC. I was very hesitant to pay $50 because of mixed reviews and impressions. If you are interested in a non-biased and technical impressions, keep reading...
First off, I was thrilled to a see LAN MP option so I created my own server, cranked up all the graphics options and gave it a whirl. I was very impressed at first. The map was large, gorgeous and I was excited to use the new gadgets.
Next, I tried the SP. It starts out strong and after about 10 mins, it felt like I had rewinded 10 years back into a FPS that wasn't quite finished. Linear? CHECK. Cheesy voice acting? CHECK. Non-stop F-bombs and over the top language? CHECK. I couldn't play for more than an hour due to the wasted potential of the interesting USA invasion premise. This SP could have been AMAZING.
Lastly, I jumped into several MP modes. I admit I had fun being hunted down in the BC (battle commander) mode but the more I played the game, the less fun I had. Camping, proned snipers plagued several maps where you'd spawn, run a few feet or even hide then get sniped. After a few hours of playing, the same thing came coming to my mind: WHAT A WASTE OF SUCH POTENTIAL!
If you played Frontlines: Fuel of War on PC, this honestly feels less polished. It's unique.. but is that worth $50? I praise KAOS for including LAN options and advanced graphics options in the game but overall, this game feels undercooked and underwhelming.
I'd be happy to answer any questions for the PC version for those who are on the fence.

I didn't exactly have a script for this so I just spoke what was on my mind.
[editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
Also, sucking at the game? I went 20-6. If that's sucking, I don't know what is winning then.
And when did I call you and Raidyr worse than SPUF? You must be mistaken me for someone else because I love Raidyr.
That moment in the bus journey when you see the parents get shot right in front of the 2 year old (guess) and he runs over to them crying made me cringe. The only times games have made me react is that and Katey in DR2. I guess that's why kids are kept out of most games.

Yeah, the mass graves in the baseball field were nothing compared to this scene.

Where did you get it for $24?
The child scene was the only thing in the game so far that really caught my attention... Other than that, there isn't much to say.
Yeah, the mass graves in the baseball field were nothing compared to this scene.
I might have taken the mass graves a bit seriously if it wasn't for "HURR, DIE YOU BASTARDS".
"YOU KICKED THE HORNETS NEST WHAT DID YOU EXPECT" SAYS THE SPUNKY FEMALE LEAD
:v:v
The sniper rifles need to be fixed, now.
Played 3 games of TDM, remembering my deaths for each one. I died 24 times, 22 were to sniper rifles (M200 or M110), and 14 of those deaths were 1 shot kills with 100% health.
Also hacks out the ass. I have seen more hackers playing this game for 18 hours than my 180/120 hours in Bad Company 2/Black Ops.
I hope there's the "dark side" of resistance fighting, you know, like executing "enemy sympathizers" and some stuff in the setting to show that American "freedom fighters" aren't so different from the Taliban and Iraqi insurgents.
Wait.. making the game politically... correct?
Seriously if this were the case I'd actually think about buying the game, it'd actually make it stand out from CoD and MoH. Now that the game is out, are there any story elements like this?
