Some people like 1.6 for how it feel the recoil of 1.6 to source does differ. Physics are different people prefer the physics on 1.6 to source.
CS GO does play differently to source. So 1.6 will still be strong and source will be. CS GO will also have a lot of players to.
All the CS games will have a strong community.
CSO and CS:CZ? :v:
The only guy I know why plays TFC is an old Fortress Forever dev :v:
That's depressing if it's true.
Well Counter Strike GO is just CSS with better graphics so I am going to guess yeah.

I didn't know that "better graphics" meant "new maps, official gamemodes, weapons, and a totally new artstyle."
(right now it appears to have L4D2s slightly cartoony artstyle)

i thought that was l4d2 with the cartoony art style?
AHAHAHAHAHAA. Ha. What a joke thread! Wait, what? You're not kidding? Was Battlefield 2 deserted when BF3 came out? I don't think so. Was Black Ops deserted when MW3 came out? nope.
Deserted? Hmm, nope. Spread more thinly? Sure.
I would say I could see 1.6 going the way of TFC, but CS1.6 is sort of an enigma in terms of player base. They never get bored of it, it seems.
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
What has that got to do with anything?
i thought that was l4d2 with the cartoony art style?
Typo, I forgot the 2, edited it in
CS:GO doesnt support custom gamemodes like jailbreak etc. so no.
CS:GO doesnt support custom gamemodes like jailbreak etc. so no.
What makes you say that? They said GO will be just as moddable as CSS.
Source came out to soon after condition zero, that contributed greatly to condition zero having little players.
CSS will still be alive and well. CS-Go was catered more towards console gamers as far as I know anyway.
Valve is actually taking a ton of feedback from the pro players... who play on PC, you know. Their stated goal was to unite the CSS and CS 1.6 communities.
tfc still has people playing, so no.
Doom 2 and Quake still have people playing, so no.
What makes you say that? They said GO will be just as moddable as CSS.
I´m curious to see though how it handles the custom level distribution, as CS: GO uses Newer version of P2-source, which uses VPK instead of GCF.

The whole VPK system is horrible, IMO. It destroyed L4D's modding community.

Agreed fully, if those games are anything to go by, CS-go will most likely run with "server switches to map, you get kicked from server while a browser pops up in background telling you to dl shit." But the most worrying thing about vpk is namely how it completely kills the possibilties of actual custom gamemodes, as real modding support(more than just maps) is nonexistant in vpk based games.
Was modern warfare 2 deserted?
Was modern warfare 2 deserted?
Basically
last time I played it it took me more than 5 minutes to find someone to play with in a gamemode other than team deathmatch, and even in team deathmatch I only found like 8 other players in matchmaking

VPK system makes the custom content distribution along with the levels a lot easier.
Thats the only positive thing about it. :v:
And on the technical side, games using VPK have faster loading times than games with GCF.
+ VPK wont get fragmented easily as GCF.
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
Condition Zero still has players the last time I checked.
Not as much as 1.6 and Source but still.

Its because matchmaking there got broken, takes longer to connect, 'as all.
VPK is useful for organization, pretty much. It lets people delete which addon they want rather than having to go through each folder and find each file and delete them individually. It's quite annoying when you have a modded gun that has its own materials, models, sounds, and scripts
lets put it this way. Team fortress classic was not abandoned. Now think: how does that relate to your question? :eng101:
EDIT: Don't answer-just...just keep thinking.
Since Valve announced they aren't going to support mods for CS:GO, CS:S is going to be fine.
I immediately laughed when I read the thread title.
Since Valve announced they aren't going to support mods for CS:GO, CS:S is going to be fine.
Source?
I thought Valve said they'd support modding?
10,000+ servers, I don't think so man.
Since Valve announced they aren't going to support mods for CS:GO, CS:S is going to be fine.
Where did they say that?
If so then no mod support for CS:GO is a big mistake.
what I mean is that it looks like a graphic enhanced version of CSS. Nothing special.
That is exactly what it was meant to be.
It's an updated CSS.
That is all that it is.
Why is it so hard for some people to realize that?
