http://steamdb.info/app/65930/ Achievements for that FPS X-Com game that never stopped being a thing.
I can understand people's frustration with the existance of that game, but tbh I was kinda psyched for it. The black sludge aliens were pretty cool, the setting was/ is unique, the "ship" itself was pretty fucking awesome... Maybe it shouldn't be called or related to Xcom, but I love how it looks. It would be a shame to see it pushed to the wayside because of some old zealots. There was a lot of interesting looking stuff there. I mean fucking hell, I want this.
Reminds me of the Twilight enemies' motif from Twilight Princess.
Guys? Is Halo really getting added to Steam or did Microsoft already debunk the whole thing and say no?
They said no but then more proof showed up. Plus pretty sure Microsoft has done this before.
Guys? Is Halo really getting added to Steam or did Microsoft already debunk the whole thing and say no?
Frank O'Connor seems to be the only one commenting so far, and everything he's said can be boiled down to basically "maybe lol" His latest comment on the gaf forums WOULD have been a flat out "no" but then he put an asterisk and said "*never say never insurance" All I know is if it doesn't happen, a whole lot of people in both parties are gonna look really dumb.
They said no but then more proof showed up. Plus pretty sure Microsoft has done this before.
What recent proof was there besides the beta profile? I thought that's what caused them to go out and say "No."
I'm curious no body through to send them an actual letter. because by law they have to respond. - Edit Turns out that's only government and I'm not to sure about the entire world.
I'm curious no body through to send them an actual letter. because by law they have to respond.
[citation needed] I have never heard of this law.
What recent proof was there besides the beta profile? I thought that's what caused them to go out and say "No."
The beta profile thread was created months after they said no, they said no to Halo 3 being added to the cdr (this thread).

You're missing out on some cool games.
Well, all those catch up games would add up, plus a lot of the good old exclusives on the console are dead. Still though, I can't imagine having gone through my gaming life without playing The Darkness. Fucking hell I loved every minute of that game.
Halo 3 for Steam? HELL YES! :downs: Now if only Metal Gear Solid 4 would join the party than I could die a happy gamer!
Oh god
this

Oh god
this

When we get Halo 4, I mean like I'll just abandon my console on the spot. Its just like sorry son but you lack modding ability... I'm thinking 343 hasn't release modding tools so lets throw money at a friend to make some!
Oh god
this

Too bad it'd be nearly impossible or just too time consuming to make a PC port of a game made to run on a cell processor. Although it'd be amazing if they did, especially considering that the graphics still hold up (though they could easily fix the bad parts like shadow resolution and texture resolution).
a game made to run on a cell processor.
That's what they say, but who knows
Do you think my HALO 1 CD key will get me a steam key for it from Bungie or VALVe?
Do you think my HALO 1 CD key will get me a steam key for it from Bungie or VALVe?
That'd be hella cool if it did, cause I still have mine.
That'd be hella cool if it did, cause I still have mine.
God, My CD has so many marks i'm amazed it still works. And i've got mine, Errr... Somewhere.
game made to run on a cell processor.
You literally have no clue how processor architectures affect software.
I just found my Halo CE. It was inside my CSS case (with CSS).
I still have my CSS case too. Not sure about code. It came with DoD and HL2DM too
Just found the Cd Key along with Age of Empires I
You literally have no clue how processor architectures affect software.
Curiosity of a non-programmer here. I kinda want to hear you elaborate just for shits and giggles. I wanna know more.
Do you think my HALO 1 CD key will get me a steam key for it from Bungie or VALVe?
Don't get your hopes up, I made that mistake when Quake 4 came to steam.
Curiosity of a non-programmer here. I kinda want to hear you elaborate just for shits and giggles. I wanna know more.
Basically this is the only thing you need to know <Code> --|Compiler|--> <Program> Compilers for C/C++ exist for pretty much every single CPU Architecture ever made. Compiling a program for a different CPU Architecture is just using a different compiler or flipping a switch. The only thing that you could call remotely CPU specific is the fact that the PS3 CPU has 8 processors (7 for the game 1 for the system) and that back when it got released most PC's had like 2 or 4, and a lot of PCs still do, so porting a program means that to get the best performance you need to merge threads, but that isn't a whole lot of work 99.9% of the time. Some of you will be curious 'why don't we get pc ports of everything then'. Well there are 2 things - PC Controls / menu's etc ... Everybody knows how horrible a bad PC port is. - API's: When you make a game you rely on the OS(and sometimes the System), While often things are very similar across systems they are rarely completely the same. For example when you send a package on a system the process is basicly the same but every system gives the function its own name. [cpp] int send( SOCKET s, const char *buf, int len, int flags ); // Windows ssize_t send(int sockfd, const void *buf, size_t len, int flags); // Linux [/cpp] And ofc the differences gets a lot bigger when you do more complicated stuff. If you use a game-engine like the UDK that runs on multiple platforms, the engine will compile and run on all systems its supports, and only controls will need fixing.
^^ thanks! cool.
Do you think my HALO 1 CD key will get me a steam key for it from Bungie or VALVe?
I don't know if that's the best idea seeing as the halo pirating world is basically that pre-2005 clusterfuck of used keys. If they let you do that, you could end up losing your game anyway because a key someone else had generated for them could be your key. At least I think so. That's an issue I had with Tron 2.0's multiplayer a few years ago and I can't imagine the system being very different.
Wow ,cut the rope got added to steam.
