Oh look, minecraft is in the hands of a competent developer
Minecraft seems a bit brighter.
Redstone being clunky isn't a bad thing, it's not supposed to be high tech, it's meant for simple mechanisms, however it's natural to want to push the limits
I still wonder how this ModdingAPI will work like.
Probably the same as texturepacks. Stick the mod files in a .zip, place 'em in a folder.

I wouldn't consider it being simple unless you consider having double your house's size in a redstone system just for a lockable door "simple".

Solution: Bigger house.
Also lockable doors are incredibly simple, just use pistons to push blocks in and out the way of the redstone signal to give/cut off power to the door appropriately. It also helps to use an inverted iron door so that it's unopenable when powered.

That said, you're also missing the point of "simple" circuits. The circuit is simple, not the functionality given by that circuit, which can be simple or incredibly complex with some clever wiring, which is why I think redstone additions should be left to modding.
[editline]11th December 2011[/editline]
And also changing the way redstone works, even for an overall positive change, may break many, many circuits and make a lot of people angry for a time. This is evident with Jens' change to the way repeaters output a signal, which broke a lot of circuits that relied on having the power set off in 3 directions rather than 1.
I never use redstone for my house. I use redstone for a lock on my emergency house, just in case my regular house gets blown up, and I use redstone for buildings where I produce or do things (like farms or simple simple mob traps), but I never use it in my house, and I think I prefer it that way. It still gives minecraft a very...improvised survival feel.

I still want some function that makes it easier and more practical to use.
For example being able to place smoothstone on walls, so that you can just place them up a wall when you want to power something high or low, instead of having to make very space requiring staircases, or very complex redstone elevating systems that are different from when it goes up and when it goes down. I also would like it to be easier to connect to objects, having the redstone attatch to objects it is close to instead of having to form a line to it.
Basically, redstone and its functions are fine, but the wiring is unnecessarily complex.
He should combine slimeballs and redstone dust and allow us to make sticky redstone dust that can be placed on walls.
I'm sure a lot of people have mentioned this before.
Fuck yeah! Mob spawning eggs! My problems are solved!

I just mean adding something like right clicking to change its direction so you can have it slightly more compact without all the paths connecting automatically when they are next to each other.

I've never heard anyone suggest that before, that is genius. There is a lot of potential with that.
That's because you don't visit reddit, but yeah, it's still a nice suggestion.

I am emailing Jeb.
Regarding promised features, I snatched this off the first page of Minecraft Chat thread

So I guess there's no need to make attack animations for the zombies, as they're right here like other cool stuff Notch shouldn't have removed.
I liked how the skeleton responded when he hit it
Now I have hope I'll be able to play this on a laptop.
And that my friend will be able to play it on his low-end PC.

Oh god the world generation. I remember how strange everything looked when I first started playing.

I miss that. Made it seem like a somewhat alien, yet familiar landscape. Now it's just LOL MOUNTAINS AND SWAMPS

You forgot Alpine forests and football-field sized deserts.
I love the new terrain generation, it seems much more real. I do think swamps should be more uncommon though.

Generated 20 different worlds... all spawned in swamp
I hope there would be world seed presets that created worlds with mainly desert/tundra/forest/whatever.
It'd be cool if the new world types could have some old generations like creative (if you liked it so much) and it could support community made generations as well.

there was Biometerrainmod which allowed you to do completely change the generator and it has a couple of nice community made settings
bring back winter world

I don't know what the music is from, but I think it fits Minecraft better than it's current music. Something about it sounds more like retro RPGs. That's how the music should be, in my opinion. Fits the visuals.
Haven't heard much about furhter development yet, although it makes sense since jeb's working on Cobalt.
What exactly IS Cobalt anyway? I heard it's a platformer/sidescroller of some sort.

It's a sidescrolling shooty platform game. It looks ok from what I have seen, I don't know if it will be any good.
The rest of Mojangs games will probably suck.
