I bought it the day before I got Rage expecting it to distract me until Rage arrived, but now I spend more time playing Orcs Must Die than Rage.
The campaign is longer too
If you arrange some swinging maces over some tar pits so that they swing forward and back (not left to right), pretty much nothing besides ogres can get past. Especially if they're both upgraded.
The problem is that there's rarely an opportunity to place the swinging maces
People...check this game out...pretty freaking addictive! Free demo is on Steam.
Oh, a free demo? Thank goodness for a demo being free.
Will buy this in 4 days, the demo was lots of fun.
I already played the demo, and it was really fun, wish i had money to buy it
Awesome game, was expecting a boss at the end tough, or at least a much more epic finale, it seemed a bit dull. Playing nightmare difficulty now, got 5 skulls on the first levels until I got to Twin Halls. Afraid to even try.
Forget springtraps, forget archers; AUTO-BALLISTAS is where it's at!
If I had to choose it would be barricades. I fucking love mazes filled with gory death traps and archers above just raining hell on the orcs.
Is anyone else having major trouble understanding anything the [sp]evil sorceress[/sp] is saying? She's always talking very quietly while explosions and death are happening all around me.

Yeah I had to turn music down and run over to a quieter place while the [sp] sorceress and war mage were talking and stuff. The dialogue is pretty amusing but it sucks you can't hear it all.[/sp]

What were they talking about? I think I heard her shouting :v:
Their conversation at the start of Hard Climb was pretty funny.
Can't remember it well, but something along the lines of:
[sp]-Small, stubborn child, why won't you let me teach you?
-The old man used to say that
-I'll feast on your heart and bathe in your blood
-He used to say that too, when he was a little drunk
-Arghh, I'm done. You will never experience the pleasure we could've had together!
-Oh, no. Wow. He never said that.[/sp]
Probably late to the party, but I finished up my first video review (ever) and it was for Orcs Must Die!. Figured it might be of interest to people here.

Link to the news post about it that has the review synopsis and scores for those who don't want to watch the video: http://csnation.net/content.php?629-Orcs-Must-Die!-Video-Review
The community reached 250 million kills, so everybody who owns the game now owns the Orc Slayer costume, check it out guys, it looks bad-ass as hell.
Also, Zips, while the story is unimportant, the one you've given at the beginning is completely wrong.
The order dispatched warmages and their trainee to defend the rifts to prevent the orcs from going to the Humans' world, Warmages and their trainee all have been dispatched, our character's master died, so he took on his role, as the game goes on, warmages gradually die, but he isn't the last human in any ways, only the order of the warmages are dieing out.
You might want to re-arrange the way you talk about the game, or more accurately, the rate, you were talking about what happens at the end of the map (talking about the score) in the first wave, you should talk about that at the end, when the viewer can see the scoreboard, makes more sense, and is just more interesting to watch you play the round while you talk about, say, the traps you've laid down and talk about other things about traps, etc.
Basically, talk about parts of the game when the recording reaches a similar point, nice video nonetheless though, couldn't do any better than you've already.

I was curious about that cause I'm sure the Elves and the Paladins/Knights could hold out pretty well, though I guess War Mages are essential to holding a keep or fortress. When it comes to co-op, they can easily make excuses when it comes to the story. [sp] The Sorceress tells the War Mage that he is the last of his kind, however, she could easily be lying to attempt to turn him to her side or make his lose hope. Of course he doesn't give a fuck.[/sp] With that they could give reasons that other War Mages appear to assist or some other jazz.
Bragdras: Thanks for the feedback. I had 64 minutes of footage and 9 minutes of voice I had to make fit. I didn't record both at the same time, and just spliced random game footage together. I think the only point it doesn't line up is with the score thing since I had to edit footage out to show later recorded stuff.
I wanted this to be about 4 minutes shorter but that's what first ever video reviews are for I guess.
Had a lot of success with this:
Put a ceiling swinging mace ($1500) above a choke point. Underneath, put a Tar Pit that slows them down, increasing the likelyhood of a hit, and you will splat major orcs. Put 2 in a row, add spikes before and after, and the wall arrows, push trap, blades or grinder on the sides, and you can sit back and watch the carnage unfold without lifting a finger.

Reminds me of Sanctum. Gonna have to give the demo a try.
Just bought and downloading now, really enjoyed the demo.

You won't be disappointed.
Completed the level where you first get the blade walls, but I was over the par time by about 3 seconds so now I have to do it again for those 5 skulls. :suicide:

I missed out on the majority of the dialoge due to the fact that it always starts whenever you are busy fighting and the music is on full force. Makes it impossible to hear anything and there are no subtitles.

The only similarities the two have are that they're both sort of tower defense and sort of action games all rolled into one. While I enjoyed Sanctum a bit, OMD is a much better title, especially when it comes to the action portion.
Also, Bragdras, I used your story description as an error correction in the video description at Youtube since re-recording and re-uploading is a bit out of the question right now. So, thank you for that.
fucking explosive kobolds destroying my barricades
Just finished on War mage, got 4 more missions to finish at 5 skull then on to nightmare! :D

Nightmare turned out to be easy as shit, at least with the strategy I started using. The game got boring, I think I broke it.
I'm making a simple guide on getting 5 skulls on any level, even on nightmare
I have nothing to do and 20$ in my steam wallet, so I'm downloading this now.
Anyone know if there's an unlimited wave mode or anything if you complete the game or something? I want survival!
Just played the demo. Very fun!
I'm not buying it due to the lack of multiplayer, though. That's the dealbreaker for me.
Ugg trying to finish the 2nd to last level...any suggestions?
This game's fuckin' fun, but man... most of these levels on the first try, either I lose no rift points but go over the par time, or finish before the par time and lose one or two rift points... either way that stops me from getting 5 skulls. :v:
I also found that I still use most of the old traps, not so much the new ones. Dunno if it's just me or if other people do the same.

Spike traps with upgrades on are still fucking fantastic, I only use tar traps on those swinging mace traps.
