Then there's the fact that it literally takes longer to fix some of the shittier tanks (PI-III, T26, BT7, etc.) than they actually survive in combat.

farmer, download the 1.17.5 patch, extract the files from the exe, then move them to your MoW directory to patch it
i still dont understand why they take so long to get these patches on steam
Because of just that. The game doesn't have any real AI. The skirmish is simply like any SP mission where triggers tell the units to spawn and then carry out basic orders.
And yes the_killer24, I have the AS beta.
Skirmish is fun, tough as fuck though.
But, they could have, you know... developed and added AI. :saddowns:

So it's a defense mission?
Nah. Currently the 4 skirmish missions are all the same but different maps and nations. You start with basic infantry call-ins, and then you capture different flags like in Frontlines. Each flag gives support for other call-ins. Starting with infantry, towed guns and light armor, ending with heavy tanks and artillery.
You also get hero units at different points. The germans get a Tiger Ace, the US get paratroopers, USSR some super-heavy artillery.
Defense missions would actually be preferred imo. Hopefully we get both the assault ones we have now, and defense ones in the full game.
They had better add in some awesome defense missions for skirmish.

Yeah pretty much this. Scream's "WE ARE EXTREMELY FUCKING LAZY" to me.
I just fought a tank only battle in suburb 2 it was awesome after that we played infantry only which was even better.
Viktor Smirnov.

I think infantry and light tanks only plus limited artillery would be best.
Where does mow save images?
Yeah, GSM is a great mod. The only problem with it is some extreme unbalances.
Like playing an early match with USA, all their tanks are CRAP and then you buy a 90mm AA gun, that can OWN any tank they have. Its like a flak gun only even more powerful and a deleriously long range.
You just don't know how to play, I never ever ever, and never play as allieds. But in one match just yesterday I had to in a game of US vs Dritten Reich with unit types set to '44. Of course I expected utter and complete rapefest in our expense, but guess how it went. Its all about how you use the units and when, for example, the M18 Hellcat. It's the ultimate weapon and game-ender in direct-control. It's fast, agile, with armour that doesn't get messed up by lousy 20mm guns, and ridiculously powerful gun that pretty much kills everything germans have up to panther and so on. Hit 'n' run tactics were how I rolled and the tank survived to till the end until I had to rush centre with it to save my friend's butt who managed to deplete all of his points. Got blown to atoms by the combination of AT-nades, Panzerfausts, and Panzershreck rounds. But that isn't the point.
It's pretty much about how you can distract enemy tanks and vehicles until you can roll a tank with a decent gun into killing range without being shot to hell. For infantry it includes number of factors; does the a.i fucks up, do you micromanage them and how, etc, etc...
The 90mm gun isn't really that overkill, all the enemy player has to do is retreat his tank to it's maximum firing range, and bombard the gun into bits.

This this this. I find I enjoy games where it's mostly infantry pushes with light and lighter medium tank combat is the most enjoyable. I've always thought MoW needed a "light" unit restriction option, something like that.
That's why I am looking forward to MOWAS which has larger infantry squad sizes! Hopefully with how the way getting tanks is being tweaked we're going to see more low tier tanks.
BTW MOWAS Steam group only needs about 2000 people until we get open beta.

Does it still employ the stupid "hurr rifles only squad, smg's only squad" system? It's just fucking retarted. The basic squad in the real life was usually consisting of 7 riflemen, squad leader with an SMG, support man with an light-machinegun, and 2 other guys working as scouts with smg's or rifles, or both. Of course every nation had their own squad style, but I'm not going to list them.

Well there's a new squad called "assault squad", I think it has rifles and SMGs mixed.
Assault Squad does indeed have a "Light" unit restriction. No medium-heavy and heavy armor and no artillery. Just Infantry, vehicles, towed guns, armored cars, light and early medium tanks.
It's quite nice to play.
Although using the Goliath in super-heavy battles is more lulzy.
To the above, Assault Squad doesn't have the old infantry squads. Basically, you get "Regulars", "Veterans" and "Elites". They are all mixed with rifles, SMGs and an MG or two. Obviously the higher ranked ones have better quality weapons. Then it also has some specialized sqauds that excel at assaulting, for example.
Do all American default infantry units (IE not elites and shit) still start with Springfields? Since I'm pretty sure they were phased out of service as the main rifle from everyone except the Marines during the war.
That's awesome. Just a shame they didn't actually make a skirmish mode (But rather some bland co-op missions)
Rushed a King Tiger with Kamikazes in test mode with a friend the other day :v:
There was one Kamikaze that almost made it but died (he was 1 ft away)

Can't say I remember that. Let me check in a minute.

Can you design your own buildings? Or do you have to use premade ones?
Mapping for regular MoW, and not AS, I take it?
I'll map for AS when it comes out :v:
and mislum , i've started designing my own buildings, theres a tutorial somewhere on the dms site on how to get it ingame in mow.

Thought it was that other modern day mod.
Playing what? It's just one of my maps and 3 mods running simultaneously.
About what weapons they use in Assault Squad.
Regular US soldiers do use M1 Garands instead of Springfields. However, you can also buy conscript infantry which uses Springfields. Yes, they are cheap and quite shit at everything.
The way infantry is set up now:
Conscript = Cheap, shitty infantry. Used for distractions and meatshields, I suppose.
Assault Infantry = Regular infantry with emphasis on SMGs.
Regular Infantry = Standard infantry squad with a mix of rifles, SMGs and an MG.
Then there are two types of elite infantry. In the case of the US, you have Airborne and Rangers. Airborne are more lightly equipped and cheaper, while Rangers are the heavy soldiers with automatic rifles and AT weapons.
You can also purchase single soldiers like most mods for MoW.
Sounds a lot like Brothers of War's system.
The Puma is great
