MoW is still superior because it not only is realistic, it requires greater amounts of intellect instead of "spam infantry with bazookas and kill the entire enemy army"
I know, just saying that i still play it, they are special on their own different ways. :downs: [editline]7th November 2010[/editline]
...except I don't know how to play or what I am doing, or what to think about when playing or how the interface really works beyond basic camera rotation and standard "attack here" commands. Like I said I've never played a MoW game before and obviously the AS expansion being a beta and all that, has no explanation or way to play the game in order to learn how it's mechanics work or how to really play it.
Play skirmish with someone who knows what the fuck they are doing and you will learn quickly.
Korjax catch me on steam and I'll either play you 1vs1 or we can try an easy skirmish.
This is DMS their first real game (stand alone expansion whatever), and they're a very small company. They had a very marginal share in developing MoW, but that is all. Somehow implying that they're just trying to cash in is retarded. I thought FP was always helpful in supporting small developers?
Because it's obvious MoW:AS is the product of lazy turds.
Korjax catch me on steam and I'll either play you 1vs1 or we can try an easy skirmish.
Putting the skirmishes on easy doesn't really make them easy. :v:
Yes we would all love a completely new game on a completely new engine, but fact of the matter is that for a fledgling company that is not doable. AS's success holds the future for the MoW series, because BW sure as hell is done with it, except maybe some more offline milking (vietnam, red tide, some new game). Looking at how with such limited resources DMS managed to so tremendously improve MoW, I can't wait to see them get to opportunity to create a full sequel.
Jesus christ, go play 150+ hours of Men of War and a few games of AS. AS is a fucking mod with some new shaders, skins, and maps. A group of modders could do this in a month, then work out balances to perfection through new versions if it has a large enough community. If such a "fledgling company" can't do it in this alotted time, then they shouldn't release it and work on what the community actually wants and will pay for, or release it for what it's worth, a couple dollars. You're missing the point entirely here. I personally don't give half a shit that DMS didn't make FoW, HoW, and MoW. They're still the same damn game, it's still a terrible engine with a terrible netcode, and there still is no fucking AI.
who wants to play Co-Op skirmish for assault squad?
Putting the skirmishes on easy doesn't really make them easy. :v:
I did caen by myself. Worst comes to worst I'd be able to manhandle everything.
The 75mm M3 can penetrate the Tiger head on, with APCR rounds. You have to aim for the plate where the MG and Driver vision slits are located the range you need to be in at 78 (m?). This is on a 90 degree angle. Also do not lose the machine gunner on top of the tank, it provides 90% of the sight of the tank.
Everything can penetrate that slit with APCR though, no?
Nope. Game does not differentiate between the slits or what not. It's a flat surface.
Nope. Game does not differentiate between the slits or what not. It's a flat surface.
As I recall, you can actually fire a shot into the barrel of a tank and kill the gunner inside without damaging the turret. It's pretty awesome.
the dynamic campaign generator was not as fun as i hoped it would be
the dynamic campaign generator was not as fun as i hoped it would be
Same for me. I also cannot figure out for shit how to get to the next area in the campaign, the only option I get in the generator is to start a new campaign. Also, all of the missions have really tiny amounts of units and very obscure objectives.

DCG makes sometimes some really challenging battles. Once I had only 1 stug and 1 infantry squad while enemy had IS-2, 2 ISU-152s, 2 SU-76s, 2 T-34/76s, KV-85, Arty cannon, Antitank cannon and 2 squads of infantry. And the other time I had infantry squad, antitank cannon and one nashorn against 7 infantry squads and 2 T-34/76s.

Oh wow, them, 3 panzer 2's, a scout car, boatloads of infantry and a Panzer 3. Me, an M19 relatively close. BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM and everything was dead. A single shot is all it takes to take out the tanks, and the infantry were already dead the moment I fired that thing. Why the hell does it have Armor-piercing-high-explosive-everything rounds? At least in GSM those were different ammo types but now they combined them into one rapefest of ammunition :v:
M19 has always been that fun to use.
I love using the M19 for long range infantry shootouts and for setting up defensive positions, but it is really prone to get obliriated by german light tanks if you don't have AT infantry protecting it.
For anyone who likes GEM editor, meet GEM 3 :
It's like SimCity, only for Men of War!
Anyone knows why MoW:AS has FPS drops? If i play the normal MoW my FPS is about 30-40 but in MoW:AS i get around 10-15
For anyone who likes GEM editor, meet GEM 3 :
When i sent you that, i knew i would have to get AS.
Anyone knows why MoW:AS has FPS drops? If i play the normal MoW my FPS is about 30-40 but in MoW:AS i get around 10-15
Same here. Whenever anything happens (something explodes, quad gun fires, etc.) my FPS takes a big hit.
Same here. Whenever anything happens (something explodes, quad gun fires, etc.) my FPS takes a big hit.
Mine does this but instead of lagging it just says "Perfomance Drop experienced by blah blah", i can even see fraps saying i have 40fps yet the game is saying that i'm lagging out :/
I think that the slowdown in AS is some sort of a lag compensator thing they placed in it.
can you still get into the AS beta? i would like to see if the fixed the mouse moving between screens on a multimonitor setup, its really annoying if i click while its on one of my portrait side screens the game minimizes also it has a tendency to get a corrupt mouse icon

I have over 800 games of AS and yes, I think it's a great game and a significant improvement over MoW in multi gameplay. And I know there are many who agree with me. Yes it COULD have been done by some modders, but how does that even matter? This is worth paying money for, no not full price but then again it is NOT sold at full price. And I don't know if you saw how much work has went into the skirmish missions? You'd rather have them spend all their time redoing the engine (BWs crap) and then releasing MoW with AI and nothing else for 30 euros? Again, if you don't want it then don't fucking buy it. I sure as hell don't care, and I'm sure the Russians will enjoy your company in MoW as the only english speaking person still playing it.
I think that the slowdown in AS is some sort of a lag compensator thing they placed in it.
Even when I was playing by myself? :frogdowns:

Only thing that is getting me to buy AS are the editor improvements shown in the video, nothing else really interests me, possibly better infantry AI.
Yes, but the maps are gorgeous and incredibly detailed, a huge amount of work has gone into them. Caen and Overlord are hardly the best looking ones of the skirms btw
