Was playing the ze German singleplayer campaign, it was the last Mission.
BF109 comes streaking in on fire above my guys and smashes into a building and explodes. I could see the Pilot go flying out and watch as he hits the ground, Then, after a few seconds, he gets up and casually walks away.
THE GREATEST BADASS WHO EVER LIVED.

ALSO I WAS KINDA PISSED THAT THE GERMAN CAMPAIGN IS SO DAMN SHORT.
:arghfist::saddowns:
Yeah, all the other campaigns than the Russian are really short and are mostly sneak missions which sucks
Hope Assault Squad has more defense stuff, those are my favorites

Defense of Berlin, culminating in holding the Reichstag as long as possible :flashfap:
Played this with GSM I ran in a Italian troll tank and managed to blow up an IS-3 through suicide and slaughter two squads.
:v:
Protip : the german Nashorn has had a tremendous power boost. I shot a T34 withit, it hull destroyed/ went THROUGH it and hull destroyed the KV-85 frontally BEHIND IT.
I don't think it's the Nashorn so much as the KwK.43. The thing penetrates IS-3's like it's paper, which by all rights it shouldn't.
Just bought this, why does everyone hate the stealth missions?
Just bought this, why does everyone hate the stealth missions?
because stealth
Just bought this, why does everyone hate the stealth missions?
Because this is game doesn't jive with precision operations, at best it's annoying and at worst it's incredibly aggravating
It's the best when you can just wing it and direct control a KV through a building, kill four tanks, 3 inf......Essentially the first mission in the Russian campaign.
Has anyone got a trainer for version 1.17.5? I don't really wanna pay for one from cheat happens since it's probably a virus anyway.
Looks pretty cool.
Just played the AS beta for a bit, shit was so cash.
Parked a nashorn on a hill and it dealt direct fire death to tanks and i had a hummel a few paces behind it shelling the shit out of everything else while me and my teammate overran the enemy spawn.
and then they rage quit.
bah.

I'd want to play as Russian and German forces in Leningrad and Kursk, those would be great SP maps.

I had a hankering to drive a Ferdinand or a KT and drive around and blow shit up when I started, you know, the cool stuff.
alas, the campaign just covered north Africa, and so shit was not blown in an upward direction

Yea, instead of kicking Soviet ass in Leningrad or driving around the Kursk with a whole tank brigade backing you, they blew our shit up in the North African campaign which more or less consisted of "attack, defend from overwhelming force" missions. Hell, in the one with the Italian battleship I got my ass handed to me because my defense lines were getting reinforced by groups of soldiers that apparenlty had downs syndrome and couldn't find their way to the perimiter. And after the first two lines fell I was left with a bunch of troops hoarded up in exposed locations with nowhere to hide them from the assault of one billion British tanks.

yeah really, I found that the enemy AI send in troops an they would just accumulate in big ass bunches that would eventually cause my lines to break.
Got through that mission on the first try though, I was like "OK!, on to the good stuff!."
AND THEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE LAST ONE.

I don't think Kursk has been in any game yet, actually. Have they even made a movie about it?
25th here I come.

Well, in CoD: United Offensive you fought as a Russian near Kursk, but the tank battles were in the game for only like, a small segment and the game quickly moved to Kharkov(I think), so it wasn't anything significant.

I think there was a tank segment in the original CoD too I think that was near Kursk as well.
been so long, can't really remember

Yea, but that was about 500 kilometers from Berlin.

Theatre of War II has a Kursk expansion. I own it, but have not played it yet. :sigh:
Theatre of Wars are horrible games though, Combat Mission 2 and 3 is where it's at.
I still prefer the early soviet campaing of MoW over every other RTS.

Yeah, they're terribly boring. Only good for taking screenshots in.

Best missions of the first campaign: tutorial / first mission, the factory, Moscow outskirts, sevastopol and the hill mission.

I also liked some parts of the German campaign, althrough the stretched lines of reinforcements which often let my troops to reach extremely low numbers in the middle of an important fight and the insanely overpowered British tanks put me off from completing it.
The factory defense fucking rocked.
The factory defense fucking rocked.
A lot of micromanagement though. I would've liked to see more allied reinforcements/troops in that scenario.
Aye, it got hectic as FUCK, but I think that was part of why it was awesome.
[editline]3rd February 2011[/editline]
It really gave the feeling that you were literally fucked and all your men were going to die, no matter what, and it was just a struggle to hold the endless tide back until the train could escape.
Did anyone even hold all the control points in that mission? I basically let the AI defend them while I harden chokepoints
There was no possible way anyone could hold the boiler house, you have tanks coming from three directions on that point.
And that single T34 you get doesn't last very long against the endless Panzers
I almost lost that mission only to be saved by the mines I had put at the final intersection :v:
