Yikes. DCG is a pain to install. Keeps freezing up trying to "extract all maps." Hope i've got everything set up okay.
DCG isn't worth it. At all. Imagine all the unfair matchups you get in standard MoW campaign. Now multiply that by ten billion. That's DCG, and this is only just barely an exaggeration.
Bleh i've gone this far might as well try and enjoy it. I'm mostly doing it just to get some kind of skirmish type situation til Assault Squad gets here. Campaign gets old after a while.

So many Tigers, i had nothing to fight it off... with.. :(
I spent an hour installing it, another hour fixing it, 10 minutes choosing shit and figuring out how to get ingame, then played a single game. I had a couple squads of riflemen and SMGs + some puny field gun. The enemy had high level medium tanks and at least 10 squads + what seemed like infinite reinforcements outside of my fog of war.
Well I just gave up on trying to get it working properly after that. Figured i'll just head on to GSM Burning Steel 2. Or just play the campaigns. Again.
Quick question, do any of the GSM maps work?
I seem to remember playing a bunch on the GSM maps last time I had it installed with people to play with. Speaking of the campaign, by the way, I remember having an awesome time on the factory map but when I went through it again on a harder difficulty it was horrible. It was stressful, took forever, and I barely scraped by. It'd make a good story I guess but I was really glad when it finally ended. But now I do remember a great campaign mission- the POW camp. First thing I ever remember doing in men of war is co-op on this map, and me using a fuel truck driven by one of the resistance members as a sort of kamikaze weapon against the German headquarters. Good times.

If anyone has a preorder copy of men of war they don't want ill take it.

Once you get a Tiger of your own you can fuck shit up. Then those fuckers sent against me around 25 Shermans (the Tiger killed nearly 20, but in the end they got it, I still won the battle however).

Well, that could be fun because you would have the powerful tank and they'd have a bunch of weak ones. Now, if you had one sherman and they had 25 tigers...

[editline]13th February 2011[/editline] The really bad part is that on the territory map they have 3 or more armies, while you only have 1-2, and that pisses me off (insurmountable odds in battles I'm fine with as long as it's only once on a while, but them attacking 3 territories when I only can defend 2 pisses me off).
Or you could just modify the settings.xml so that the enemies will have the amount of units you want them to have. [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] And if you want inf only battles then just modify all the vehicles to be extra rare in vehicles.xml

Makes no fucking sense.
But this is just silly, why would I want to play in a game where I'm outnumbered 1:25.
It's just a starting force, you usually thin them out after the first few battles, at any rate the AI is so exploitable I can manage it myself.
Still, i'd really like something that's at MOST as unbalanced with the odds as a regular campaign mission or something. I like challenges, but I like victories following said challenges even more.

Trust me, it's goes from fucking impossible to challenging.
Can some one gift me Men of war please.
Fucking tired of this shit IN EVERY THREAD. Anyhow, I haven't had too many balance issues or been overwhelmed in DCG. As Thorny said, once you get the hang of the AI, you can kick some ass despite being outnumbered. I've been able to sneak infantry into position around field guns and hit them from 2 or 3 sides at once, they rarely have a chance to fire. A single tank on my side can take out a couple of theirs if terrain is in my favor. If it isn't, I piss them off with infantry and lead them into an ambush.
Wanted to try out the Men of War: Assault Squad Singleplayer demo, but I pre-purchased the game just a few minutes before so I can't play it. :saddowns:
It's not possible out of technical reasons to have the pre-purchase and demo at the same time. We'll release a separate installer version of the demo in a couple of days, which will work for all who pre-purchased as well.
I doubt the demo will be anything special if you've played Men of War and played the Assault Squad beta.
I found the skirmishes in the demo to be a lot more fun than the ones in the beta, maybe thats just me though, because they are pretty much just more of the same. The japs didnt seem to have much new stuff, all their weapons sound the same. Not that thats a bad thing though because they had the best sounding guns in the original game. That AT rifle, although useless was a must buy for me.
Going to start a new campaign with DCG. Pick my starting year and nationality!
1944 British!
1944 British!
I like this, will do. I'll need some advice on decent units to haul into the war. I'm more versed in the USSR/Germany hardware.
2 squads of guys and an AT gun.
2 squads of guys and an AT gun.
Those are mandatory. I'm not gonna run with just that though. I am no WIZARD.
Pfft, real men use assault squads with no AT rifles or guns.
