The random crew deaths are due to spalling and other red hot metal bouncing around in the tank, shredding everyone inside. I think they need to fix the tank hitboxes themselves, as in not having the first shot clip through the tank 40% of the time.
Oh I know how crew in tanks die, I'm not bitching about them "randomly" dying.
Most realistic RTS on the market other than Theatre of War, which isnt anywhere near as fun.
I think MoW when compared to FPS is like Red Orchestra. While it uses realism as a base, it doesn't devolve into a complicated mess like ArmA 2 but remains accessible and fun.
Not that I'm dissing ArmA 2, it's just that as a game Red Orchestra is better.

RO is different to ArmA2 though, hard to compare.
That's his point.
So I checked out the demo, all you kids talkin' about realism is complete hogwash :D
I just took 6 guys to hell and back. Well only one made it back.
Long story short I loaded up a tank and rolled through everything. Didn't have any working artillery to attack ze germans w/e fuck artillery, I'll roll up with my tank. Oh shit an armored car took out a tread... Fuck I'm getting ping'd to death by anti-tank guns. Like 60 german casualties later I've got one guy chillin' in the tank, three guys running around trying to kite / kill d00ds, when I'm forced to bail (no main gun what hacks). My lieutenant guy gets wtfpwned and I've got one guy who swims across a river to get back to the start of the level.
Do I give up? Hell no. I've got something they don't, hordes of bodies to loot. I load up with a machine gun an SMG and more ammo than I know what to do with. Roll up a bunch of med packs and start pickin' off some guys. I crawl up to an armored car, lob a grenade and watch the fire works while high tailing it the fuck out of there.
Then a real panzer comes and I'm like well fuck me... Since I discovered there was one peice of artillery but DERP takes two guys to drag it... fuck.
Then something magical happened. There was a truck. Which let me drag it to the river. Which let me take out the panzer. Then it was back to sneaking around shooting german fucks and hiding in grass like a pussy.
I run up to another vehicle, toss a grenade and run my ass off. This time shit gets aggro and two armored cars pull up. No big deal, I roll up to my artillery and fire some "HEY SHITHEADS LOOKY-HERE" shots to get things going. I get the first armored car and nick the second, when a god damn PANZER comes barreling down the hill. No big deal though I shoot it's hull twice, then give the turret a little love tap and BAM no main gun. The next shot breaches the hull and dudes spill out on fire ROTFLOL!!! but shit tons of dudes swarm me so I ditch the artillery and duck into a trench to spray and pray some nazis to kingdom come. Then the tank lights up and explodes ftw.
Like literally. For the win. Mission complete. Fucking god awful shitty voice acting and all.
TL:DR
I bought the sequel since the free prequel means I GET TO ENJOY TWO :krad2: GAMES.

a day in the life of a mow player
welcome to the elite
I just wish MoW had a real vehicle physics, I hate how tanks and stuff are stuck to the ground like if they were nailed to it.
It's a CoH with more realism less arcade action (you can't beat a tank with machineguns) and shitloads of micro if you want to.
To be fair you couldn't kill a tank in CoH either.
To be fair you couldn't kill a tank in CoH either.
You could beat light tanks with them. Greyhounds and Pumas could be easily taken out by a normal MG (not a .50cal).
Hmmmm... maybe stop trying to buy everything? I mean yeah a massive purchase such as the entire steam catalog will raise some red flags just at the order amount...
stupid hombre is taking it literally
I'm only trying to buy assault squad
Is there any way to lure a driver out of a vehicle to capture it for yourself? The only way I know of now is to kill all the gunners and hope that he will hop into the exposed gunner slot. But what if you can't do it that way? Is there a way to lure him out of the vehicle altogether?

In my experience with AS, the driver will bail out after some hull and engine damage from the AT guns, the tank will be pretty fucked up but you can manage to repair it.
I don't know about MoW though, long time since i played it but it's probably the same thing, they will bail when they can't drive.

Against the AI, destroy the turret, then just drive it away after the fire goes out and repair it behind the lines.
Against a direct controlled tank you can't do shit though.
I started my "2 squads of dudes v. the Wehrmacht" campaign last night. I selected a 6-pounder, a squad of riflemen with an AT rifle and a 5-man squad of sharpshooters. I started my campaign on D-day, which was the earliest available.
My collection of assholes got tasked to defend our area against a water-borne :aaaaa: Nazi assault.
I position my men carefully and are thankfully not immediately spotted. I can see an armored car and a Panzer IV, along with a truck. I carefully move my gun up to higher ground while ordering my squads to creep into position.
The 6-pounder let fly and crushed the armored car's hull. Men spilled out and were executed by my riflemen. The Pz4 moved into range and got brewed up nicely. I had hoped to capture it for my own nefarious uses, but it was not to be.
I moved my squads and gunned down most of the survivors, including some poor bastard who was actually trying to repair the armored car. Suddenly I froze; the Germans were positioning a large field gun to fire on my soldiers. My gun crew was able to throw in a 57mm HE shell and blast the hell out of the enemy.
Alas, that was to be the last action for the 6-pounder. A German self-propelled gun had been brought to bear, which took out my gun. Mercifully the crew survived. I threw them in with the sharpshooters for protection. My riflemen were able to flank the enemy gun and pitch an AT grenade in, which worked brilliantly.
I then captured the 88mm gun and my fine crew got back to work with some fancier hardware.
So far the mission is going nicely, I'll report in once I finish kicking these guys' schnapps-swilling asses. :britain:
I can never get DCG to work, the maps never extract properly. I've tried about 4 times on 3 different computers now.

Funnily enough, that shit worked like a champ for me. It was actually getting the thing to run that took a bit. I assume you have all the required .NET bullshit and other sundries to make it work?
Yeah I'm pretty sure I do, I'll have another go later on I guess.
They nerfed the shit out of the 50.cal in AS, but light vehicles also seem to be pretty useless at flanking and destroying other tanks these days also. The puma is crap now, it can't tow guns, and the greyhound can be confused by small arms, and you can decrew it by just shooting at the 50.cal that the AI constantly insists on manning even though the last 2 guys to go up there got their heads blown off.
There is your problem.
You're expecting units to carry out roles they weren't intended for. Reconnaissance vehicles were intended to spot enemy positions, and were armed defensively. They were not intended to be tank destroyers or gun tractors as you expect them to be.
Just saying, in Men of War the original, most of the heavy tanks I came up against I destroyed by flanking them with Greyhounds, Daimlers, Stuarts, Tetrarches, Pumas and other vehicles. I'm commenting on how they were nerfed in game sense, not as in nerfed from real life.
Also with the addition of APCR you would have thought that light vehicles like these would have become even more useful. I think they increased the AI gunner tracking on most tanks.
We don't expect it, we were merely reminiscing on times of old.

They nerfed them to bring them more in-line with real life.
And removed one of the most fun aspects of the game; killing a panther, nashorn and hummel and then stealing a pak-40 with one greyhound.

You seem to be missing the point. He was simply commenting on the gameplay differences of light vehicles between MOW and MOWAS.

The negative wording he used lead me to believe it was a complaint, not a comment.

The negative wording and bolding here lead me to believe you were just being obnoxious rather than making a helpful or constructive comment.
Light vehicles, and especially open top light vehicles do seem to have been severely nerfed however. The fact you can decrew and confuse them incredibly easily with small arms makes them difficult to scout with, I'm not sure they even gave them a better view distance or spotting capabilities to compensate.
Okay gents, assuming I win my first mission do I:
Bring the fight to the enemy?
Wait for a second German Assault?
Sit in the rear and watch my allies fight the good fight?
:siren: I am starting the MoW campaign now. :pcgaming:

I was using a Pershing on Bocage 3v3 Combat. It was the last tank we had and we were out of reinforcement points. I drove up to the bridge, my right track barely clipped it and the tank got stuck. I gunned it in reverse, the tank flipped and shot 50+ feet into the air, landed upside down and exploded.
C'mon boys, let's murder + loot, don't forget to shoot.
