They're actually Romanians but this was a nice story
[editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
And there were no Paks and the only MG-42's were on vehicles :psyduck:
There is a single 45mm cannon and the mounted guns on the fortification next to the bridge.
I finally got DCG working, but I can't get it to advance after I complete the first mission. :saddowns:
What a gun was intended for doesn't make the performance of the gun any different. If a gun has a certain penetration, it wouldn't change just because it was for a reconnaissance vehicle.
Read my post - I was talking about reconnaissance vehicles, not guns.

It's supposed to be running in the background, and check settings to make sure you are saving it where it's supposed to save.

You're right about the mounted guns, but I can't recall a Pak. Might have been some other gun, I think.

I think it's either a Pak or that Romanian cannon from the second part from the first mission.
I'd just like to say, if any of you get the Faces of War map pack, play the Co-Op mission where you are defending the harbor.
You get a giant Naval cannon that fucks everything up and if you wait after the end of the mission, you can continue playing with the Naval cannon and the only thing that will come at you is infantry. Endless infantry.
Might take some screens in a second.
I have the first Men of War, but that game is hard as hell. Multiplayer is a slaughterhouse for me.
I played the demo from the Men of War Assault Squad and had a lot of fun with it. In Carentan, I took a lot of infantry and flanked the first line of defence easily. My units could destroy the tanks that came afterwords, but only barely.
I also took the liberty of capturing a few German tanks, such as a Panzer IV. After securing all but the last position, a whole army of German tanks came. To my surprise (I think it was scripted in) they didn't advance further than the 2nd line of defence. I couldn't get past them with my tanks, since the Germans had seized their AT-guns once more, and was pushed back.
Funnily, I used air-bombardment on the last post (third line of defence) and dropped in a few paratroopers to capture them. I then used their own Nebelwerfer in combination with my Sherman Calliope to blast all the infantry units. After vicious house-to-house fighting with the rest of the remaining German infantry, I pushed forward with a few Jumbo Sherman's to lure the tanks to my (only) AT gun. The Sherman's that were left after the battle, pressed on to the right flank. My infantry took the right flank.
I won the battle after 2 hours fighting and received the liberty to wipe out 2 squads of Germans with my 50 cal at the end :v:.
.
The depth of this game is really amazing: it adds a nice, realistic feel to it. If the characters were likeable too, it would be one of the best RTS games ever made. It's a shame that the casual "mainstream" audience is overwhelmed by the depth and tactics this game has and simply dismisses it. Or doesn't know of this game in the first place.
needs more picture stories
i'll do a baller AAR when i get home from work.

The fourth or fifth mission in the Russian campaign in Men of War has you controlling a giant naval cannon in the second stage of the map. Just has like a two and a half minute or more reload time.

I might be thinking about the Men of war campaign. Not sure.

This guy gets what I was talking about, I just got the names wrong because I was doing this from memory since it happened around a month ago and thought I was fighting the germans instead of the romanians.

AAR for my first British mission in the DCG. I managed to lose a squad of riflemen thanks to a wicked combination of events. A well-placed AT mine blew up the 15cm howitzer I had grabbed, causing the ammo to detonate and disintegrating my squad. Somehow, the gun crew lived and they helped capture the critical objectives. I'll be grabbing some new soldiers and pressing my attack.
if anyone wants a copy of mow
i got one
Okay so. I install part 1 DCG. Part 2. Part 3. Then part 4. I select the proper MoW folder:
...steamapps/common/men of war
Then the campaign mod folder:
...steamapps/common/men of war/mods/campaign
Then my save folder:
...My Games/men of war/profiles/player/save
Then I use "extract maps" and I get a general error. Doesn't work. Of course. What do.

This is what my mods folder should look like?
no
take all of your shit and shove it in the campaign folder
Okay yeah I just realized I had opened one of the campaign folders and extracted THAT. Re-extracting.
[editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, IT DIDN'T WORK AGAIN
/c
[editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
Okay fuck this, not spending 2 hours on it like I did last time.

Did you install all of the .NET runtime bullshit the instructions tell you to do?
Yeah, I did. And I got past the map extractions after that, but now I'm getting stuck after I select my units with some incomprehensible bullshit in an error message then some bitching about .NET framework.

I forgot how amazing the train level is.
[editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
That last 10% is amazing, where I can just say FUCK IT and wreck shit with the T-34.
Oh my god the train level I raged so fucking hard
I fought off the entire assault for like 30 minutes and the countdown reached zero, and about 10 seconds after it hit zero some enemy vehicle crashes into the railcar, knocks it off the tracks, and fails the mission for me.

FUCKIN ACTION HERO RIGHT HERE
Used him to take out the SdKfz 222 every time. :ussr:
Oh my god, the Penal Unit mission is just fucking terrible. All around annoying. Constantly running out of ammo. MGs instantly mowing down entire MG diversion AND attackers. Hurr 10x more germans than you can command. The entire rest of your penal unit just sits back and does nothing.
Goddamnit Men of War.

On this mission right now god damnit it's so fucking hard
Actually it's really not too hard once you take out the first MG. I just sent both my squads of 8 to the first trench right off the bat and surprisingly they all survived.
After that it's still just an all around un-fun mission.
It would be fun if the ammo management wouldn't be such a chore. I love that mission.
Was SO close to cancelling my preorder today.
[editline]20th February 2011[/editline]
Endless shitfest. Tank AI is fucking retarded. The main reason that direct-control is in this game is because the units by themselves are less than useless.
At the end of the penal unit mission I had only like a single T34, 5 soldiers, a stolen pak and that AA truck. then I had to fight off the German Assault. :argh:

Rate me boxes/clocks, but how do I cancel my preorder? (not going to cancel it, just need to know)
