Does anyone else like Infantry Only games?
Not really, it becomes too easy to dig in on a point and make it un-captureable. I like infantry + light tanks games.
I'm sure I saw some preview video thing for Assault Squad which mentioned some forest tool in the editor to reduce workload by an absolute shit ton. Does it exist (I can't find one) or was I imagining it?
That's part of what i wanted, it wasn't there. :saddowns: [editline]28th February 2011[/editline] I stopped playing MP since every normal match turns into a heavy tank fest, or just a tank fest.
I like tanks, but not rolling out 50 jagdtigers, ho ris, pershings, centurions, and/or is3s.

Can somebody help with these problems: I have been trying to get the endless battle scripts to work and I have been successful with infantry; but the problem is that when I try to use it on vehicles; it doesn't want to work properly. It either spawns more than I set the limit to, spawns one unit that teleports back to where it spawned at, just spawns one and doesn't spawn anymore, or doesn't spawn at all. I have also been having trouble using squads is with the Endless battle script, they keep on moving back and forth at the first waypoint. Then finally I can never figure out how to get trenches and other "cut_enities"(Craters, Trenches, and ETC) to appear properly without the ground clipping into them. I'am using MoW:AS with Crom's Vehicles.
Can somebody help with these problems:
Make sure your waypoint trigger includes a "clone" tag as well as using a tag to determine the unit not a MID. Cut entities etc. will only display correctly when you are in mission mode, not map mode.

Or the opposite if you're doing it that way, and to make sure vehicles spawn with their crew when cloned, give the crew a "hidden" tag before you put them in, make sure the vehicle has this too. Then give the tank whatever tag you want.
Hey! I was thinking of buying Men of War: Assault Squad on Steam, but I'm just wondering if there are any cons with buying it from Steam? I already own Men of War, not on Steam though. And if I would buy Men of War again since I want all of them on Steam will there be any problems with playing online or something? i think you had to install a unofficial patch to play online.
MoW originally had problems with patching on Steam
The up to date patch is available for MoW on Steam. MoW:AS supports Steam, thus patching will be very comfortable via Steam.
Until, you know, they get a mortar and ruin all your plans.
But the problem is that the defending mortar has the advantage - the attacking mortar has to get into range (which also puts it in range of the enemy mortar), set up, aim and fire. An alert defender easily has the advantage.
MoW originally had problems with patching on Steam
MOWAS was made with steam in mind. MOW is autoupdated by steam, you don't have to do anything weird.
Damn, these battles are so cool, this game needs replays ASAP!
In Hilly maps, I prefer the Anti-Tank Artillery compared to a Mortar. [editline]28th February 2011[/editline]
Damn, these battles are so cool, this game needs replays ASAP!
I couldn't agree more!
I was just wondering, i enjoy company of heroes. And i prefer realism would MoW : AS be good buy for me? Because i haven't played any MoW but looks really interesting.

Hmmm, I really like Soldiers Heroes of world war II, Faces of War and Men of War, but i just tried the Assault Squad demo and I did not like it very much. I have no idea why but somehow it felt like a different game. I'll play the demo a couple of more times...

Isn't that a good thing? Half the time the people in this thread are complaining that they didn't change enough.
Isn't that a good thing? Half the time the people in this thread are complaining that they didn't change enough.
They changed the feel of the game, without adding almost any new content. That's like the worst kind of change.
The only significant change in gameplay, which is what I assume you mean when you say feel is the infantry combat, which has been fleshed out, made more realistic and really just made infantry a lot more useful in MP. Also theres the artillery, but thats it.

Ugh, mortars suck for me. They can barely hit shit. Also yeah most of the games ive played in MP sadly turn into tank wars, not a lot of people want to play infrantry only match :( The AI in skrimish mode is the only thing what saves it from being awful. It's quite impressive how even an easy AI can sometimes wipe out all my soldiers and then counter attack.' Also I will be dissapointed if men of war vietnam wont have any references to some great vietnam war movies ( full metal jacket get some for example )
The indirect artillery change really sucks. But I feel like the tank stats have been completely change, nothing functions like I remember it doing.
They changed shell velocities of AT guns and the tank main guns to make the engagement distances more realistic. Longer ranges, easier kills etc.
Also APCR.
Oh right, then there's the fucking strange "crew injured" thing which I wouldn't mind otherwise, but the crew of the tanks seems to fly out randomly when shot which is stupid as hell
I like the concept of crew getting killed by AP rounds but not the crew flying out of the schurzen every time one gets killed
Just 'ought to drop this here...
