I have sound, but no sound in the comic strips, or in any parts of the game where max speaks about something he's just done, say when the train first turns on he says something about it lighting up like a christmas tree, he doesn't say anything now :(, what's the game without the best part of it, the comic strips.
It's amazing how everyone here knows that Max Payne 3 is going to be complete shit just from a few screenshots.
For all we know, they delayed it so they could make it more like the originals.

The screenshots and info are already enough proof that the team is highly incompetent. They actually tried to justify the brazilian setting by saying there is a lot of crime there and there is a big difference between the rich and the poor. According to them it's still noir. But it just isn't.
completed max payne 2 last week, haven't played max payne 1 since it came out so i couldn't really remember the story (don't remember mona from it). Still have my retail copy of the first one somewhere
And for all we know they didn't.
I guess we'll have to wait and see then.
In any case, I really liked Max Payne. It's very rare to find such a great action game that doesn't last for only 5-7 hours. Plus, the final level just felt awesome.

Noir is about uncovering the underbelly of a seemingly glistening city. You show that despite the glitz and glamour there's always the criminal element behind the scenes, the corruption which infests everything that's only uncovered in the darkness, when all the pretence of wealth is dropped and the real world begins.
No offence to Brazillians but everyone knows that the cities in Brazil are shit for most people and there's no point looking at the seedy underbelly when the rest is just as seedy.
Also, new developer, Max is fat/muscular, bald, has a beard, has a completely different outfit, does shit in the day and is getting a new VA. And the devs are trying to defend that shit? EVERYTHING IS DEFFERENT! If they're going to completely change it they may aswell just make a new IP.
Loved both of 'em, one of my favourite games of all time.

Listening to Max Payne 2 theme fills me with nostalgia and sadness.
I think I'm getting Max Payne 3 just for bullettime combined with Euphoria physics.
I'm assuming it'll have Euphoria since Rockstar has put it in all of their games since GTA IV.

I can see it now
"Max's Hillbilly Uncle Twice Removed in Two Blunts and a Brazilian"
Max Payne is one of my favourite games. I played the fuck out of it when I was younger, even to the point where I beat it twice in one day. I just never tire of it.
Only played Max Payne 2 once and it didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Maybe that was because I was still butthurt over the new Max model. Still... The ending of the original game still would've made an excellent ending to the series.
Can anyone give me help on how to fix the no sound on the comic strips, or max talking at all?
In Max Payne the first one i got stuck at the point where you're inside the house and the hallway turns into something like a Labyrinth, then when you finally get out you have to go through the babies room where it's got like a black hallway with stars and it has a path you have to take and if you step off it you die, i stopped playing because it scared me, bare in mind this was on the Original Xbox at the time and i was like 9 i think.
Just read this thread.
Now I feel like giving it a whirl again.

That's a problem specific to Windows Vista and 7. There's a fix for that on the Steam forums. Here.

Adding some mods in a bit

Oh no you won't get out, get out!
Those old ladies are fucking hilarious. But I used to kill them all the time :smith:

MP painted a likable picture. A man who gets his wife and baby murdered goes out looking for answers and to try and get back at whoever's responsible. Max as a character fit well with the overall film noir style.
MP2, while being slightly different was still very much enjoyable. No longer did we have to put up with a permanently constipated Max, no sirree! Plus, mods.
The problem is that while change isn't a bad thing per se, here's what we knew about MP3:
- Max is now in Sao Paulo (or some other south american place). What's wrong with good old New York (or some other north american place)?
- Max now works as a private security dude. Plausible in a way but still a quite radical departure.
- It's set 12 years after MP2. Now, call me a pessimist if you want but that just sounds like an easy way of making an only vaguely related game.
- Remember the Max we knew? Well, this is the new Max:

Now do you understand why we're so damn pessimistic about MP3?
Why is it the majority of good games involve killnig Russians en masse?

The first two had endless storms of snow/rain throughout. Somehow I doubt we'll be seeing that in Brazil.
Anyone else expecting Max Payne 3 to get canned, what with it keeping getting delayed year after year.
It's not even on the 2011-2012 calendar year.
That is what I said to be hopeful about restarting the game over. As I said, it has been done before.

Max left NY apparently because it reminded him too much about the death of his family + [sp]Mona[/sp]
The movie had so much potential but they fucked it up so hard
Hard to have faith in a movie that casts a black man as an originally white man.
I still haven't seen it and I'm honestly not planning to. The trailer just put me off so fucking much.
I fucking loved Max Payne 2

It's not just that he's black but Jim Bravura was elderly and had an all around mean toned voice. Ludacris is a fucking rapper for crying out loud and he's young and has a calm voice.

He was a typical "Police Chief" character.
The kind whose catch phrase would be like "I'm too old for this shit..."
The nightmare scene... fucking hell that scared me shitless, i was seriously playing under blankets with nothing but my eyes and the controller sticking out
I thought the Nightmare scenes were mostly annoying and silly.

It lost it's charm when I fell off the blood trail for the 10th time.

It has been raining for 10 days non-stop here in Sao Paulo, FYI
