get your late 40's electric disco pop out of this 90's Noir thread you yuppie.
I hope they fix up Max Payne 3... get some good writers in there, the works.
Damn. Max Payne 2 has really good graphics, I daresay even by today's standards. It looked mindblowing back then and it still looks really fucking good. Max's model in particular.. I've yet to see one that can best it. Anyway, fuck Max Payne 3 unless they make it like Max Payne 2 but with a direct continuation to the plot.
I think people need to realize that just because it's not in a dark city, it's not film noir. It can still be film noir and I'd even venture to say it'll play more to a neo-noir feel.
Let's compare shall we? Xbox: PC It might be that the PC has more death screams than the Xbox There's also a few more Cleaner models for the PC.
I see the problem. You intentionally chose a shitty quality video for the xbox version and a high quality video for the PC version.
I see the problem. You intentionally chose a shitty quality video for the xbox version and a high quality video for the PC version.
There is an abundance of PC videos. Only about 3 Xbox. Intentions have nothing to do with that.
Holy shit someone provide a link
There were a couple. The only one that hasn't been deleted seems to be this one where he talks about Mario Golf http://au.gamespy.com/articles/489/489776p1.html
Max Payne is one of my favorite games of all time. It's a big part of my gaming history. Every single year under X-Mass I use to play MP1 and MP2 through. Max's personality and worldview really matches up with the worldview of Finns. Just watching Max going through all that you can really 'feel' the "sisu" (courage) in him. "A labyrinth of dark streets spread before me. I must go on." I hope that Max Payne 3 keeps even some of that manliness you have in the previous games. "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." Great game, great story, I don't have more words to define the very awesomeness of this epic story of a man who walks alone.
Doesn't the Max Payne 3 site still say Winter 2009? :v:
Doesn't the Max Payne 3 site still say Winter 2009? :v:
I saw a Max Payne 3 pre-order sign outside of my gamestop 2 years ago
Fuckin winrar. I grew up on these games.
Examples of "Neo-Noir" please.
"Neo-noir (from the Greek neo, new; and the French noir, black) is a style often seen in modern motion pictures and other forms that prominently utilize elements of film noir, but with updated themes, content, style, visual elements or media that were absent in films noir of the 1940s and 1950s." Some examples of Neo Noir: - Chinatown - Taxi Driver - Basic Instinct - Heat - Reservoir Dogs - Pulp Fiction - Memento - A History of Violence etc etc [editline]15th March 2011[/editline]
What the fuck is "neo-noir"!? Brick is also neo-noir

Excluding Tarantino

I have never heard of any of those movies being called neo-noir.
Taxi Driver can hardly be considered Neo-Noir. It's only kind of Noir.
Max payne 1:*2 guys disarming a bomb* guy 1:so,which wire should i cut man? guy 2:In movies it's always either red or blue guy 1:so,green? guy 2:NO YOU ID-*boom*
"Max, dearest of all my friends!" Vlad was a badass dude. [sp]Too bad he tries to kill you.[/sp]
I heard that voice in my head when I read the thread title. Such amazingly good games, the visual style, the great animation and cool particle effects makes sure they're still fun to play years later. But what cements this game's lasting appeal is those graphic novel cutscenes and Max's poetic to himself, total badass to everyone else dialogue. Guy with a bat is beating the shit out of Max who is tied to a chair, he introduces himself and says his name is "Vinny 'The Bat' Niagra." Max says "Niagra? As in you cry alot?"
Amazing game.
My ass is neo-noir then. I have never heard of any of those movies being called neo-noir.
my you got the most compelling arguments i've ever heard
Hell yeah! Found my dad's old max payne 2 PC box. Gonna install it [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] Also, in honor of my installation of Max Payne 2, I leave you to say this Teeth, the whole set. They dent one of them, we go dental on 'em [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] I must say, they put more detail into the PC version than the Xbox. I'm actually playing it. There were no windows in the room where [sp]they killed vlad's gun worker[/sp] and she also had no hair in the xbox ( more buzz cut) but in this one she has dreadlocks. The cleaners also are more colorful. In the original, when they spotted you, they shouted an uncolorful alert. "THERE!" But in this one they say a number of things
my you got the most compelling arguments i've ever heard
My heart bleeds.
"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present Max Payne, New York's finest, with the biggest mobster body count ever. Dearest guests, prepare to die! Max! I'd love to come and welcome you, but I'm busy dodging bullets and hiding under a desk at the moment! "

Hopefully the reason we haven't seen MP3 is because they dropped the idiotic jungle setting they showed in the screenshots. It needs to be in New York, it needs to be snowy.
Max Payne 2 was the only violent game I was ever allowed to play when I was younger. I'm replaying it now. Holy shit, it's good.
