They light up the dark so katarina can't destroy your team! (except of course that your team is always bad and doesn't care that there's a highly fed lvl 18 katarina coming at them from behind with a chogath for good measure)

Buying wards is quite complicated issue.
Let's say you do buy them but noone else does :
You either spend fortune on them, manage to cover "fine" area/time but now you are behind in terms of power.
Squishy tank, 100 AP Mage or 2 items melee mid-game ain't much good.
If your whole team buys 1-2 wards per, let's say, 6-7 minutes it's pretty much global vision (key areas = most imporant, duuh) unless enemies go counter-oracle (in which case kill the bastarad, 400 gold down for him).
I use them in the jungle to not be ganked.
Which is... probably the main purpose skilled people already do and stuff.

I'm always the one who has to buy at least 10-15 wards per game, then get bitched at for having less items.

10 wards = 750 gold = 1/4 of Bloodthrister (around)
They are by no means waste of gold and they can even earn you gold, but still , if you are the only one buying them, you will be behind.
Unless you are farmster like Kaiser, Noc or Ashe. Spam dem vision then.

Ashe can't farm early-midgame effectively, Nocturne doesn't lane, and Mordekaiser es #1.
Anyways, by buying the ward you can essentially ward off a gank which means a loss of around 20-30 CS which you could've gained so it's pretty worth it to ward.

Even if you don't die, you would still have to b after a decent gank, losing 8+10-20 seconds of farm.
Hey, I just realized I bought Akali a long time ago and played her a total of once. That game was abysmal. TEACH ME TO AKALI so I can make carries cry.
Or you can buy a Wriggle's Lantern if you're a tanky DPS and have a free permaward for your lane.

get the runes for both passives if you can
otherwise start with dblade
R > Q > E > W

pretty much what i do
also, your combo should be q->r->e if you can get a q in before dashing, make sure you autoattack after dashing to them to consume the mark
