If Jax is playing aggresive he's wasting all his mana, throw a lot of auto attacks on Jax to weaken him so he can't engage. Also call a jungler to gank your lane. Make sure you don't attack Jax when he got his attack speed boosted from his ult. Jax can easily be countered early game before he finishes his first item. If he gets some kills however, prepare for an unbelievable hard lategame.
Akali can beat Jax in lane with double proccing q, outdamaging Jax's combo.
If you are a mage DO NOT AUTO ATTACK JAX, ALSO DO NOT LET HIM ATTACK YOU NEAR YOUR MINIONS, THE MINIONS WILL GIVE HIM HIS STUN

I don't see what the big deal is. They're two games under the same genre directly competing. Idk how it's possible not to talk about them both. Getting mad about it is just pathetic. I honestly like discussing the two side by side. They both have their individual charms that keeps me playing both.

Akali can beat Jax in lane with double proccing q, outdamaging Jax's combo.[/QUOTE]in order to defeat jax in lane it really depends if you're ranged or melee. it's a much more uphill battle if you're a melee character, and a lot of ranged champs have the problem of succumbing to his W-Q combo because of squishyness. you're right about the mana though, should you ever see him below 10-25% mana, then you can pretty much harass him for free, until level 6.
Jax is strongest (imo) coupled with a stun/heal support, as he suddenly has much more damage potential at the click of his duobro. you just have to keep him underleveled and underfarmed, and he's as dangerous as a fly.

I should also probably mention, that after his combo has been done and his shit is on cooldown, you can almost always, ALWAYS kill him, unless he: backs off fast enough, or has his stun laner with him. i agree that jax is better doing a sololane, but having a support with him cranks up his potential much more fiercely

oh yeah, and as PirateMax said, if you see that fucking bubble appear around jax, stay the fuck away and out of 550~ unit range for 7 seconds, because he WILL Empower>Leap>Stun and likely do 50% of your health away if he gets into range
