As you play and gain levels you unlock more slots These are runes you can have for multiple rune sets, each for a given champion and/or gameplay You don't need all of these if you stick to only a few champions
So if I want Health regen, I can buy like 10 of those and have the regen count stack up?
By the way, TO NEW LEVEL 20-30 PLAYERS: Buy Tier 2 health quints instead of Tier 3, they're 60% cheaper and only give 6 health less.
Fucking riot nerfing my health quints.
Fucking riot nerfing my health quints.
And mana regen runes. :C
Runes are out of game enhancements you can purchase with Influence Points to add more numbers to your champion. Practically every aspect of a character's stats can be enhanced through a certain rune. They're only purchasable with IP because Riot don't believe in selling power for money, go figure. However, rune pages can be bought with either IP or RP. The reason why you have to buy rune pages whereas mastery pages are free is because Riot does some weird things and every rune ever bought has to have its own unique ID for every page it's used on which = more memory load on them so they need your precious moneys so that they can buy more memory or something I don't know. Anyways, most people start off with 2 or 3 rune pages, depending on when you joined. You can buy up to 10, and if you earned the free rune page that Riot gave out a while back, you can max out at 11 pages. Each page can be customized differently, so you can have a general AD Carry page and a general AP Carry page at the same time or any other combination based on your champion preferences. Buying additional pages allows you to further diversify the amount of champions you can effectively play, but it is not entirely necessary. It's recommended to buy a few if you are serious about playing ranked games, just to cover all the basic roles that you will be expected to play, but then if you were going to go that far you might as well just buy the rune page pack and get it over with. So back to the runes themselves, you unlock another rune slot on your page every time you level up as a summoner from 1-30. At first you can only buy tier 1 runes, but at lvl 10 you gain access to tier 2 and at lvl 20 you can earn the coveted tier 3 runes that all the cool cats use. Generally, it is advised to simply stock up a bunch of tier 1 runes and then upgrade straight to tier 3 from there, skipping tier 2 entirely. The reasoning behind this is because tier 1 is dirt cheap whereas tier 2 costs a significant amount more and at that point you might as well just wait out for tier 3. At lvl 30, a standard rune page goes 9 red, blue, and yellow runes on a page, and 3 quintessences. Runes come in per level and flats, where a lot of the unique runes come only in the latter. Per level means that they "level up" in a sense with your champion so that their efficacy grows as you go farther into a game. Flats are more used for an early game advantage whereas per level are more useful for late game peeps. Some per level runes have a lot more efficient growth rate compared to other per level runes, some of which even eclipse their flat equivalents at a mere 6 levels (Mana Regen per level for example) whereas others take a much longer time to exceed the efficacy of flat versions (Cooldown per level compared to flat Cooldown). Red runes, otherwise known as Marks, focus on offensive aspects of a champion. Common picks for this slot are Armor Pen and Magic Pen. Actually to be honest, those two are probably the only worthwhile Marks to get unless you're running some weird ass shit that is only used on gimmicks or something. Yellow runes, called Seals, grant you better utility and physical defense. Armor, Dodge, and Mana Regen are prevalent Seals. Blue runes, known as Glyphs, help out in the magical aspects such as AP and Cooldown. Both those are useful on Glyphs, along with MR and Mana Regen. Quintessences are the big men of the page. Whereas some stats may be restricted on certain colored runes, there is a Quintessence for every single stat available. Quintessences also come in many unique flavors that are not even available on the standard three base color runes, such as death timer reduction, additional gold per ten, and movement speed. They are the strongest runes in every aspect with the downside being you can only load on three of them on one page at a time. They also usually cost like a fuckton, the coolest ones going for 2050 a pop. You're potentially putting down 6150 IP on just one set of these badass motherfuckers so make sure you don't fuck up. But just because a certain rune type specializes in a certain aspect does not mean that you must absolutely use said specialization in said rune type. Seals, while strongest when used as physical defense, can be used for additional attack damage for an AD carry. A common thing to do is to load up either Attack Damage or Attack Speed Seals along with the standard Marks and Quints that AD carries get to grant you a much stronger early game. The same can be said for Glyphs and to a lesser extent, Marks. Some good startoff runes to gun for (in my opinion) would be, Marks: Armor Pen and Magic Pen Seals: Flat Armor, HP per level, and Mana Regen per level (luxury option: Dodge is an alternative pick that basically functions like Armor (sort of)) Glyphs: Flat Cooldown, AP, MR (flat AND per level are both good), and Mana Regen per level Quints: Flat HP, Attack Damage, AP These runes are more suited to peeps who have gained a better understanding of the game and know what they are doing: Marks: Attack Speed (highly situational, usually for certain junglers) Seals: Attack Speed and Flat Attack Damage (the attack damage allows AD carries to better assume dominance in the laning phase) Glyphs: Attack Speed Quints: Flat HP Regen (exerts HELLA lane dominance for certain champs (ie: Irelia)), +Experience, -Death Timer, Bonus Gold per 10 (great on support champs who don't farm that much in the laning phase), Movement Speed (these make you the coolest kid on the block) now you could either read all this or read this other thing that is a lot more official than my own block of text but since I put this link at the bottom I would expect it would be TOO LATE FOR SOME PEOPLE HAHAHA: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Rune [editline]7th August 2011[/editline] post index: Runes001FP
What about AS and MS quints? :c
MS Quints are for master-race only, why would he tell people to get MS quints for noobs?
Just played a normal game versus an Udyr, Amumu, Gangplank, Soraka and LeBlanc. This made me realize how great the ban system in ranked games is.
I hate you Dani My eargasms will never stop now [editline]7th August 2011[/editline]
Oh my god please post them I think they'd be funny
Yeah, my ban would be funny
All of those would of been banned except for leblanc unless she gets a buff and becomes a new fotm.
LeBlanc was 0/3/0 and we were 5/0 ahead in teamkills, then udyr got farm from solo top and gangplank got his infinity edge, it was gg.
Why do people care about elo in solo queue? It's fucking luck
Why do people care about elo in solo queue? It's fucking luck
Well i dont know about you but i had some pro 3 mil elo people a couple of games ago where we had coordination, ganks and we were able to push two lanes to the inhib turrets by 12 minutes and the other team was alright, the scores were even just that they had the better teamfights we had more push power. Then the game after that i had monkeys that raged at everything "KARMA Y U NO HEAL ME WITH YOUR MANTRA EVEN THOUGH YOUR OUT OF CHARGES, HEALED ME 2 SECONDS AGO AND ITS ON CD.

Normal games are too hard for me. Off to playing vs beginner bots.
That's how I feel every time i'm against cass mid.... Also, KLURWO JEBAN
Actually, he was top against urgot.

Is it just me, or is it just that whenever I play or see Jax, he pretty much just jumps on top of someone for a massive nuke, then does nothing, because he can't build up his stacks nearly fast enough before someone slows or stuns or runs faster than him.

New taric skin is in there ps ty riot for skin
ninjad by like half a sec oh em gee edit: why no automerge
if it's a good jax, he powered his ult on minions, or others. if he's extra good, he got the stun ready and pops it midair
Yeah, I know, but with just Rageblade and Gunblade, your base AS is laughable, and you'll just crush through a creep wave in a second, or someone will stun you and you'll lose all of your stacks. Lategame anyways, you will almost never have teamfights in lane, and instead, are roaming around the two jungles. I can imagine a fight with Jax taking Baron with 10 stacks going well, but other than that... nope
ninjad by like half a sec oh em gee edit: why no automerge
Automerge is DED!
just watched the patch preview. Leona's getting buffed. Oh god, shes pretty much OP as far as i'm concerned anyway. Also Garen buffs :D
