I'm relatively new to the game, like level 8, can you guys give me some advice on awareness and when to initiate team fights?

* Buy wards whenever you can, a single ward costs 3 minion kills.
* You should always be farming early game and trying to harass the enemy from farming. ++ Farm if youre a carry - Farm if youre a support.
* Take Clairvoyance as Support and use it at key moments.
* If youre a tank you always initiate first for your team, try to shut down their carries but also protect your own.
* If youre a heavy teamfight initiator who isnt a tank like Fiddlesticks, wait for all the CC to be dealt like silences or stuns before you ult in.
* Basically you initiate a fight ideally if they are separated or you otherwise have the upper hand like baron buff. Most importantly initiate when all your team is capable of fighting.

Thanks. I play malphite a lot, and I know that I have to initiate team fights but I feel like I'm initiating when I'm not supposed to which results in defeat.

Gank when you can, even if they complain. Half the time people end up calling top solo, and if they do and complain about it, tell them to eat a dick because they called it and can't handle it.
