I find that if you start with an armour + 5 health pots, get someone to help you at blue, go to wolves, then wraiths, then golems with smite, continue, go back as soon as blue buff runs out and get a mana crystal and if you have the money a pendant, sell your armour and buy a tear, then work up to a manamune (which you'll max out before 30 minutes mostly), you will not have mana problems, even if you use your W and E while jungling.
You then get merc threads which is well, kinda vital as a melee dude.
You then get a gunblade since he's very hybrid, and his Q will heal you buckets, especially if you do AOE damage with it, not to mention his E is already a heal and does damage which'll heal you even more.
A frozen heart is really nice because you're already slowing with your Q, the extra mana is nice anyway, and the 20% CD reduction is pretty sweet, not to mention 100 armour is fantastic.
Then you can choose to build him AP or AD.
AP would probably be a RoA/Lichbane and a Deathcap, this'll increase your W, making you more tanky, your E, giving you an even larger heal, and your ulti will do more damage aswell.
You could build him AD, getting a triforce and possibly an IE, maybe a PD because of his passive, and you'll have a very strong Q and autoattacks.
I don't think Skarner's a bad hero, people just don't play him properly yet like happens to other heroes.

It's why I stopped talking to people outside of mia's and picked whoever I wanted and didn't give no fucks. I played better, enjoyed myself more, and still got shit canned down to under 1000 ELO because of shit ass teammates.
