She has always been able to spam it and make laning phases really fucking lame. If you look at it. Her spamming it as much as you could was equal to most other champions single heal with a long CD. Leaving it as is while bringing down every other support would put her into the "OP" section for support.

most fun i've ever had in a game just now we killed their base turrets, they killed ours i'm teemo, go into their base alone while they defend and all 5 of enemy team is in our base kill their inhibs solo and use passive to hide won the game with minions and only person in their base ended up like 29/5/14 too

The only reason someone has a "main" in the MOBA genre is because they are playing League of Legends and they are new and only have one rune page.

Or maybe they are really good at certain champs and like playing them hence "maining"

I like Jungle Fiddlesticks, Cho Gath and Jarvan. I consider those my mains because I play them and enjoy them more than all of the other champs.
