I browse all (Leaguecraft, mobafire, solomid) and every site has some gems and some shit. Bad guides (as in slightly incorrect, not troll) can also be useful, because if you read them, realize they are bad and notice that some of the behaviour/builds/tactics they encourage are in your arsenal it will help you improve just as much as learning new stuff from some 2000 elo guide.

Lux is good but her damage is only really an initial burst that lowers everyone's health. She usually can't finish people off.
Good for team fights, not so good for small skirmishes unless you can land everything.

Take scepter, W/E (it's easier with W) and start at wolves -> wraiths -> golems
go back buy boots/cloth armor
Blue -> wolves -> wraiths -> red -> golems

merc, wriggle's, warmogs, atmas, banshee/FoN, frozen mallet
SS:
flash and smite

IMO lux shouldn't be treated as a pure AP carry, her spells are so useful in terms of cc and utility to limit her to hit and run playstyle like every guide I've read.

Well, if your team can manage to hold enemies in a place for a second Veigar's Dark Matter is devastating, as is his "Kill" sequence and AoE Stun cage.
Malzahar can dish out a lot of damage constantly with ult being nice to exclude someone's abilities from the fight (unless they won't be focused, then it's 2.5 seconds). AoE Silence is also nice feature.
Vladimir carries well from what I remember, nigh immortal if fed early.

Not sure about Malz but Vladimir is poop in terms of damage.
Q is a suck version of Annie's Q in terms of damage, E is meh, R is good and W is really only used for escapes or for that duration when everything is on cooldown.
In short there are better champs to play.

No, guides are good for getting a feel for a new champion and what to get.
I used a solomid.net Warwick guide to give me a good idea of how Warwick is played such as skill order and what items to consider. But once I knew what skills to max and what items in general to get I closed it and did everything else myself.

Yes, Vladimir can be quite weak if his early game didn't go exceptionally well, but 3-4 kills before 20 minute mark and Q does hurt, but not only that, it heals you faster than they can hurt.
You should try and give him a chance, once he reaches certain level of advantage it's impossible to take him down without whole teams effort and cooldowns.
