I find he isn't all that different from Jax. I wouldn't really call him a "tanky DPS" like Irelia and Renekton. He works well with things like triforce, but besides that he doesn't have much tankiness, at least in my build.

Jax doesn't need HP If you can go non tanky Skarner and not die then your enemies are bads

And when Skarner DOES get all the stats that he needs, he's nowhere near as powerful as Jaximus

It doesn't matter if you get 20/0 as Skarner in the highest possible ELO, in this thread he'll always suck. There's absolutely no way to disagree that he needs a buff, and badly, though.

Jax with a Gunblade, Tabis, Banshees, and a Randuins and he's good to wreck all game. Seriously he just needs his survivability to do anything.

Tanky deeps is strong cause you only need like 3 items and you can wreck faces

I played mundo, jax and morde in 3's tons of times, and even with incredibly shit teammates, I managed to carry the fools and win 30+ games. I think I only lost like ... 2 games. But then again TT is broken. I played them in SR, mundo isn't bad, morde is pretty good but jax now seems like crap unless he's fed.

The viability of Skarner compared to Malphite is pretty far apart He's slightly more viable than Twitch and Eve, but that isn't saying much

Here is a better question: are people in high level play using him? No? Then he is not viable enough.

Well yeah he can't do as good as other champions, but he's able to fill his role, IMO The thing is that you'll just need a shitload more skill, but he's far from unplayable.

But it's not a high skill cap kind of skill, it's an "I need to put a billion times more effort into items and farming to be effective" kind of skill. That is not an effective champion.

So you're saying that the problem isn't that his numbers are bad, he just needs skill? Cass needs skill, but if you play her well you shit out DPS Skarner needs skill, but if you play him well you still don't do much

He is like Talon: he is really underpowered right now and if you want to do his job well you need to put far more effort into him than other champions.

He should be buffed, because the way he is he needs a lot of skill to be used effectively. That sounds pretty obvious now, though.
