[QUOTE=<Insert Name>;33650512]Okay I've ran into a minor decission problem. I'm currently doing PvE with some salvaging to get me started and I'm about to buy a BS. I just don't know which. I asked a few people in my corp/alliance and they basically said I should by a Dominix or a Megathron. I'm more into drones tbh. But I don't know if drones are good enough to get me through higher level PvE missions. I'm still very new to the game.[/QUOTE] How much SP do you have? If you're still new, a BS is a pretty big waste of isk.
~400k SP. What should I aim for if not a BS? Oh and I'm also looking to maybe use the ship for mining. So a good allrounder would be awesome.
You are not ready for a battleship.
Hey can you guys help me? I'm trying to get into pirating, and I've read some things on the wiki. It doesn't seem to help though, I think I have a good fit/ship. One of the biggest things I die to is gate campers. How can I avoid those? I also have trouble finding people to kill or ransom. I'll get into a system with people in it but there will be 7 planets and 20 asteroid belts, making it impossible to find somebody. Is there an easier way to do this? I really want to get into pirating because it looks fun, but the things I listed make it really difficult. [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Also, what're some corps I can find for new players and pirates? Or where can I look for them?

However, drone ships are highly useful for all high-sec PVE, and would be a good path to go down if you want to focus on high level missions. The Vexor (Cruiser) and Myrmidon (Battlecruiser) are better for lower skillpoint pilots and lower level missions (although you can run a handful of level 4 missions with a well fit Myrmidon, though it might take a while).

I think I will go for a Myrmidon, though not in a short-term future.
How do people know what kind of ships and fitting they need for what they want to do? I have no clue and usually end up following a fit that is on the battleclinic. Can somebody help me learn what kind of things I should be looking for to know what things I need for a certain fit? For mining and stuff it's kind of obvious, but I mean more combat oriented roles. [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Sorry for asking so much things and looking for help, it's hard to find the things I'm looking for.

This isn't CoD where you get XP for killing someone before they kill you. You throw money at it, you'll pick it up; but you need the motivation to keep going. What's the fit you're using? If it isn't a rifter, I'd suggest using one. [QUOTE=Biotic;33651869]How do people know what kind of ships and fitting they need for what they want to do? Take a fitting for the ship you have, look at it and work out the reason for each module, see if it can't be improved for what you are using it for, you'll pick it up. Asking is fine, EVE's a big, tough game. My friends, who've been playing for months not, still get cap confused with cpu.

[editline]10th December 2011[/editline] I'm looking for help on how to be a better pirate and prevent losing ships to gate campers. Not to be told what I already know, that you will die in this game. But there are ways to prevent dying, and that's what I'm asking. [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=Sgt-NiallR;33652275]Asking is fine, EVE's a big, tough game. [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Thank you for helping me though. I found some of it helpful. [/QUOTE] Is there an alternative to the Rifter for Gallente? I don't want to train skills I won't use, but if there isn't I'll check it out. Is there a certain fit I should use for it? Also, [url=http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/34067-Hyperion-Dark-Fusion-Annihilator.html]this is the fit I tried[/url], but I lost it twice to gate campers. I just can't seem to get away from those. [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Although some of it was T1 because I didn't have the skills(drone, nano membranes, guns), and I didn't have the Ogre II, but I'm a few days away from the Ogre II [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Oops, I didn't intend for this post to be so big. :v:
I believe the Incursus is the closest the Gallente have to the Rifter.
[QUOTE=Bulaba0;33649314]It is small, and it's entirely PVP, unlike alot of the "0.0 PVP" corps which are just scrub corps that participate in alliance blob CTAs.[/QUOTE] Ahhh interesting.

You can make so much more isk by missions if you don't want to go to low and null (neither of which you are ready for yet, being a totally new capsuleer) [editline]10th December 2011[/editline] Also, dramiels are ridiculously powerful still. There is no reason a solo dramiel should be able to take on a tackle frig and a ham drake with tp and dual web...
I can't wait. They're buffing the T2 Interdiction maneuvers link! Should get somewhere near 60km hopefully on a Heated RF :D :D :D :D
Skirmish Warfare link specialist 5 is going to be a favourite skill of mine.
So I'm living in a wormhole, and we run sites everyday with a carrier, only problem is that our carrier pilot is Australian, meaning it can be difficult to summon combat pilots to join in. So, should I train for a T3 (for making sites go faster, maybe even soloing a few), or for a thanatos, to make sites more avalible throughout the day? We have T3 production underway, so the cost isn't likely a factor.
Take into account the skill train for thanatos. There's over a week of training for each cap mod the thanny can use, so it gets kinda crazy. A month for the ship and another for the mods. If you're willing to put in the time, do it, it's fun and versatile.

What Bulaba said does hold true, training for a thanatos will take a lot more time and will be considerably more expensive too (capital ships skill and gallentte carrier are 450 mil each). If you are in a class 5 or class 6 wormhole I would personally say it would be more worth it to go for the carrier because then you get the capital spawn with your corp mates and more availability for sites is good, anything smaller then that and a T3 would be better because once a capital ship is built in a class 4 or lower its there for good.

Tengu, Legion or Proteus?
I was dicking around in photoshop with a picture I took. [img]http://www.horobox.reager.org/u/spacy_1323569502.png[/img]
Oh god, all that pixelated graininess. It burns.

Tengu, Legion or Proteus?[/QUOTE] I am definitely most familiar with the Tengu, it has a good balance between tank and dps, I know for a fact that it can run c3 sites solo from personal experience. A legion should be able to as well, the main issue is the neuts may cause problems because it is a ship that relies very heavily on capacitor. With the hybrid buff the proteus could definitely be considered, it as well should be able to solo a c3 site but it may have issues with optimal range (I don't know all that much about hybrids because I've never bothered to). Honestly I wouldn't go for the tengu because missiles aren't great for much other then PvE, the legion would be my personal choice but depending on what skills you have there are different options for you to go as well. Just curious why are you not considering the loki?

When you increase your standing with agents, do you get better paying, or newer, missions? Because I have noticed that the agent I have been going to has given me the same mission more than once on separate occasions.
In my experience they give you more missions of the missions that have a high payout, you can get them normally but you have a higher chance for them.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll skip the BS for now and wait until I'm skilled for T2.

If the Loki is great then I'd consider it, but its extra time and a prett ugly design.
100mn tengu is good for PVP. Haters don't know what dey sayin' (Missiles have a higher applied DPS, due to their range. They can start firing while the enemy is still closing in, and just trolololo warp if the enemy gets too close.)
