ouch, im sorry but that was a waste. You can get them off the market for ~20m. I picked a neural remap, which sucks because i get a free one on the 22nd, along with the gift one.
I can't justify spending that type of ISK on it just yet, and I really just want something to toy around with.
Motherfuck, I don't know what to choose.
From these holiday gifts I ended up a choice of the destroyers.
already got the 3 pretty ships that have no practical use.
don't want some cheap implants, don't need a neural remap I don't need drugs either. I don't use quafe.
I don't manage any posses. nor am an industrialist in anyway.
Too little units of ammo to be of much use. not to mention half the types would go unused.
Aurum, what am I gonna do with this. I don't want fancy clothing since I don't use CQ.
And then to decide which destroyer pack.
Anyone got a good pve proteus fit?
Anyone got a good pve proteus fit?
No such thing.
Anyone got a good pve proteus fit?
Tengu
Anyone got a good pve proteus fit?
Good PvE
Good Proteus
You can only choose one.

Fuckin' a.
Good PvE

I threw together a good proteus. Good range (10km optimal), mwd, deadspace rep w/ omnitank, and a couple drones. It's not as good as a tengu i agree, but, it works. And was relatively cheap as well, less than 600m.
I decided that I'm going to concentrate all of my training on Frigates. Only a week and a half until I'm able to buy a Hawk! Hopefully I'll get enough money for it by then though :|. How do you guys make money? PvE? Mining? I've been missioning but it isn't exactly the most fruitful way to get money...

It's seen as bad because you have short range weapons, meaning huge amounts of travel time to kill each rat, and your damage is limited to kinetic and thermal.
When you say "pve" I'm assuming missions, and as someone who has spent obscene amounts of time running missions I can tell you, Gallente and Caldari have the worst mission selections out of all the empires. Minmatar are the best, followed by Amarr. Guristas and Serpentis are a pain in the ass to fight with their EWAR (jamming and damps) and their bounties/salvage are worthless. The best thing any mission runner can do is grab a Machariel with T2 autocannons and head out to Minmatar space, it's the best way to make money off of missions.
If you insist on using a T3, the Tengu is the only decent choice. All the others are extremely inefficient mission ships (the whole Gallente line is terrible for pve, in fact, but the Proteus is on its own level of badness).
I finally figured out why the front end of the warp tunnel has a blue tint and the rear end has a red tint. Saw this on facepunch somewhere. May have been here. Late?

Kinda late in that I think a lot pf people knew this.
Don't think it's been linked though.

I remember reading something about that though I'd forgotten about it. Nice little reminder though I never really put much thought as to why the warp effect was the way it was.
can somebody tell me what exactly the gifts are to choose from? My sub ran out.
Which gift should I as a beginner consider? Those destroyer packs look nice but maybe there's something better for a new player? And if I chose one of the destroyer packs - which?

Destroyers are good ships, both for beginner and later use. depending on what you plan to do of course.
You should probably stick to one race in the means of training and flying until you get to a point of having good enough skills to train for others.
I'm playing as Gallente. But the Catalyst doesn't support missile launchers, right? Wouldn't a ship that supports those be a better choice?
Not necessarily. Every weapon system has its pros and cons though projectiles seem to be favored among the majority for both PVP and PVE. It all depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it. I myself am only particularly familiar with hybrid weapons as those were my starting point and I'm just now moving into projectiles.
i saw a jump freighter jump for the first time today
scared the shit outa me, i thought it was a fuckin space nuke
Missile gameplay is slow and boring.
I, myself prefer hybrids, even knowing their ups and downs. Somewhere along the line i'll train my projectile and laser skills up too. And maybe even force myself to train t2 missiles.
But even having most of my gunnery sp devoted to hybrids, i still know projectiles are superior in every way. I just wish the ships you attach them to were more visually appealing.
Just for the record: Amarr = Laser, Caldari/Minmatar/Missiles = Projectile, Gallente = Hybrid ?
Just for the record: Amarr = Laser, Caldari/Minmatar/Rockets = Projectile, Gallente = Hybrid ?
Rockets? And Minmatar have several ships, like the typhoon, that can use both missiles and guns at the same time. But otherwise, that is correct.
I meant to say missiles, sorry. So I guess I'll take those Catalysts then. Thanks for the heads up.
Goddamnit, this was a double post, so I deleted the content.
Caldari = Missiles/Hybrids [Railguns]
Amarr = Lasers/Missiles
Gallente = Hybrids [Blasters]/Drones
Minmatar = Projectiles/Missiles
First weapon system is the one mainly used, the second can be used but generally isn't due to being less effective (not the case with Gallente drones, for PVE at least).
For example, the Abaddon has 8 turret slots, for lasers. It also has 4 or 5 missile slots, but they aren't usually used, because Missiles + Amarr = Fail

The second I warped for the first time my 8th grade astronomy lessons kicked in. Space is fucking cool.
Just for the record: Amarr = Laser, Caldari/Minmatar/Missiles = Projectile, Gallente = Hybrid ?
Projectiles (Autocannons and Artillery): Minmatar
Lasers (Beam and Pulse): Amarr
Hybrids (Blasters and Railguns): Mostly Gallente, but some Caldari (Gallente generally favor short range blasters, while Caldari gunships tend to favor longer range railguns)
Missiles (Close Range and long Range): Primarily Caldari, but both Amarr and Minmatar have ships that incorporate missiles as well.
Basically, Missiles and Projectiles are not the same thing.
Chilling with duders on comms, sitting in the nyx being all paranoid, one duder burns his dramiel 500m from me. About a minute later he starts laughing on comms, as he warps his Erebus to his dramiel at zero right on top of me. He bumps about 5k, and I luckily stay still. My anus hasn't clinched that hard in months.
[editline]13th December 2011[/editline]
He just did it again, with both his erebus and another guy's aeon. I once again stay perfectly still, but the aeon and erebus flew about 20k out of shields.
~~unbumpable~~
