16:39:10 Combat Ogre II hits Core Lord Admiral for 1004 damage (Wrecking!)
holy shit
What are you flying? My old Myrmidon would occasionally hit for 800 if I got right up close, and my Hurricane regularly hits large targets like that for 500-700 per volley.

Was an ishtar. The cool thing is, that wasn't even a structure hit. That was a crit on armor. Pretty sweet.
Ah fucking sweet, spend an hour running a mission in EVE and just as i finished off the last of the ships they took down the server for a reboot.
So after multiple jumps in and out and paying for ship repairs, the server reboots and i lose all 50+ wrecks to salvage and actually make some money. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK

You're doing it wrong. Badly so.

Yes well taking on 20+ ships at one time is not easy. Been playing the game less than 30 days.
Also probably doesn't help i'm alone and my Thorax is set up for getting in close to deal damage and the map is littered with asteroids and debris so when i try to charge in, my ship deflects off and i'm stumbled for a moment while my shield and armour is getting raped.
Also after starting to get hulled as i was jumping out i decided to stop paying for repairs and go buy a hull repair but yeah. Still sucks

for a newbie, your skills aren't high enough for an up-close blaster boat. Just throw some rails on it and eat them away at distance.

What level missions are you doing? And what is your fit?
I'm debating on buying a Tengu, right now I fly a Nighthawk for L4's (trying to make some easy money), but I am thinking of upgrading. I did the stats, and what it amounts to is about 100 more DPS, and three times the speed (m/s).
I'd use HM's instead of HAM's because I don't want to spend the ISK to do a HAM L4 Tengu right. Here's the HM fit I'm planning.
I guess the bad side is it has 60k less EHP... but the sig is 40% of what the Nighthawk has, and the range that it would be able to stay at would be no problem (I think).

why double small booster?
Single medium FTW.

I made the mistake of starting Gallente and found the rails to be absolutely useless. Most anything above a frig can tank them until you get BS class. I jumped to Minmatar and haven't looked back since, got tired of flying space shotguns.
By the way, blasters are quite easy to use. 1: Get right up someone's chuff. 2: Fire all guns at that someone. Even if you're level 1 in hybrid turrets, blasters hit like fucking mack trucks right up close, but you need to be <1000m. 3: Switch targets when it pops.
Yes well taking on 20+ ships at one time is not easy. Two things.
1: Don't you have an armor repper fitted?
2: Fly Caldari, Amarr or Minmatar. Gallente ships are flying shotguns and depend on drones to do any meaningful damage.
- All ships are effective with the right skills, no weapons type is superior than others at level 1.
- You might have missed the Gallente love for drones, making up a good half of their DPS on many ships (This is however a few more skills to train).
- You don't use blasters for PVE, that's just dumb.
- If you couldn't kill anything until you got to BS, there is a problem.
- Blasters work past 1k in anything larger than frigates (which is probably your extent of knowledge with them).
<tengu fit>
pretty much spot on there, imo. the only change i would make would be fitting the dissolution subsystem if you are killing guristas or serpentis, but that requires either a domination amp or cn bcu for cpu.

I recommend the Vexor. Its one of my favorite hulls and its t2 variant is pretty sweet also.
Fit medium and light drones, if you cant field five at a time then train the skill that allows you to use five. Fit a medium rep and some specific hardeners based on the npcs you are fighting. Cap rechargers to keep you stable. Medium railguns because of bonuses and you probably can use them already.
You wont be very stable early on in the game, if it becomes too much of a bother focus a bit more on capacitor skills.
If you need isk for it just ask. Most of us can spare a few mil.

why double small booster?
Because it will cost me 350m more to do it, and give me slightly less tank... BUT I will be slightly more cap stable, and in addition I can put on a target painter, which will actually increase my DPS a good amount...
I did the math, I get about a 20% damage increase on smaller targets, which is actually really good... though I'm not sure it is worth a whole 350m ISK more.
Here is the breakdown comparison between DPS on some simple fits between the Nighthawk and Tengu:

Green, Red, Blue is Tengu with republic fleet TP.
OR
I could go with a Pithi B-Type Small Shield Booster and get 257 HP/s tank vs a 304 HP/s tank BUT I will save 200m ISK.
I don't know if 257 HP/s is enough tank for a L4, but I will have a small sig radius, high speed, and I can dictate range with that 643m/s AB speed.
What do you lads' think?

A single pithi b-type booster with 3 mission specific hardeners will tank every L4 as long as you orbit and aren't webbed to shit. The only problem with the Tengu is you need to use heavy missiles to kill frigates, which is annoying (even with a target painter).
Speaking of t3's, my proteus does very well in missions. Nothing's cracked my tank, even with a single mar, and the mwd makes it zip between rats quick. 5 t2 neutrons make said rats go away very quickly too. And, drones to take care of frigs and cruisers. If blasters didn't have their abysmal range, i could see the proteus being more popular for pve than the tengu.
[editline]20th December 2011[/editline]
I wish its drone subsystem wasn't made of pure failium. It should be able to spit out 5 heavies/sentries. The ishtar can, why not the prot?
Anyone got a decent 0.0 ratting fit for something smaller than a BC?
I hear it can be done in a vexor, but I can't imagine that being true without faction mods.
Also assault ships.

T1 only?
I ratted in a Ishtar, worked out well until an officer alpha'd me. Other than that it worked great.

Are officers really that powerful?
They've been massively buffed

The extent of my T2 ships are T2 caldari industrials and T2 caldari frigs. I'm not too far off being able to fly T2 amarr BS, but I have nowhere near enough cash for that.
I'd like to keep it within T1, but if there's a great harpy/hawk fit out there, I'd be glad to try it out.
Honestly, drake is the way to go.

Yes.
I hear goons plowed through the first leg of Branch. Confirm/disconfirm?

Besides taking sov in unclaimed systems I haven't seen much happen yet?
I don't live anywhere near them either way so I don't really know.
I heard their was a great reaping of shittily timed structures, yeah
Well for those who were asking what my ship fit was.
I had Thorax, 3 medium hammerhead 1 drones
1600mm armour
5x light electron blasters - antimatter S
cap recharger
10MN microwarp
Webifier
Grav stabiliser or whatever (boosts damage output)
Medium armour repair
Damage control I
Was doing level II missions but i just jumped into one and got my ship destroyed as i was trying to bail..So think I'll give up. Usually do fine with level II missions until you come across the ones worth 600k including bonuses, those ones really fuck me over. Got 4 days until I can get a mining barge anyway, might go play something else. Still fucking annoyed.
Can't really be bothered wasting more cash on another Thorax and the load out, the 1600mm armour alone costs a few mil.
Now that the christmas break is coming up I feel like getting into EVE again, but I'm not entirely sure whether to do it or not. The reason why I stopped in the first place is because mission grinding is boring and wormholes are really risky to do by yourself.
What do you think, is it worth it to resub after the latest expansion? I'd be fun to join some people here on "adventures", seeing as I would have nothing to do in-game really.

Indomitablity is the name of the game here. I remember when I lost 2 T2 fit harbingers in the space of a day in 0.0, wiping out almost all of my ISK .
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on, in EVE you have to earn the right to be a fleet destroying badass.
