[QUOTE=Sgt-NiallR;33812149]Indomitablity is the name of the game here. I remember when I lost 2 T2 fit harbingers in the space of a day in 0.0, wiping out almost all of my ISK .
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on, in EVE you have to earn the right to be a fleet destroying badass.[/QUOTE]
Well combat is not my main focus to start with..sure i wanted to get a cruiser and do some damage, got all the relevant skills, some not as high as they should be, obviously but i am focusing on mining based stuff.
In 4 days i'll be able to get myself a mining barge, then my plan is to just skill up mining even more but also spent some time just gaining skills for piloting also but making easier money while i do.
Then once I have a good solid mining skill foundation to make cash, i'll probably aim for a battlecruiser or something, although my friend who is a 4-5 year EVE vet and hasn't played for a while says the level II missions are harder than what he remembers.
Maybe i'm just super noob and he's a bit rusty from not playing but there ya go.
Just gutted I lost my ship to an NPC lol
It might help if you had a competent tank on the damn thing. Plates and pve do NOT mix.

unless you're doing incursions. In which case you should have shields instead.

Stop stop stop. You will regret this.
In fact I'm logging on right now and I'm extending an invite for mission running. I can join you or you can join me. Ill show you a few ropes and try to get you a nice mission running ship.
Just post your character name or pm it to me and I'll convo you ingame.
Yeah, speaking as someone who actually has a covetor, while it's worth it iskwise, the isk is not worth it timewise. Like, I make about 3mil an hour chomping hisec rocks. That hour is the singular most boring part of my day. If you're looking for safety net income, save a roid, mine planets.
My alt has a hulk, and I only mine when I'm painting miniatures. Other than that I don't. Its just too dull.
Edit:
Mining in groups is enjoyable. Because everyone just sits down and has a laugh. Only did that when I first started though.
I only mine in wormholes.

Well I started out looking to mine to begin with, I don't mind if it's boring, i'll be doing something in the background such as watching t.v or play another game. Just to have a decent set income while i train up other skills.
My char name is Kilgore Maulerant - i'll welcome any free advice though. Still don't really feel like playing EVE for a day or two though and really don't fancy replacing my ship, at least not yet :)

Replace it with a Vexor. Mission in that for awhile then step up to a Myrmidon.
So a navy scorpion flies at our gate... pop.

I used my covetor to steal a hulk, best purchase I ever made in mining ships.
I mined a few bil worth of BPOs from an industrial corp. Didn't even have to train past retriever.

Hahaha, one of my corpmates stole an Orca and two combat ships one day. He was in a big fleet battle and the enemy, for some inexplicable reason, jumped out of their ships and podded home. They got to chatting about what to do with the ships when he mentioned he could fly the orca. So he left his ship, hopped in the orca, scooped his ship and the two combat ships into the Orca's hold, and that was that. He's still flying it to this day.

I could steal the orca but none of my characters can fly one.
I would shoot the orca on principle.
I'd steal the orca because hey, thats a free ~450m.
I want an orca simply because it's bigger than an Indy and has 40,000 m3 I scannable hold.
I have an Orca and its great for hauling around fit cruisers and stuff.
suddenly, kronos' are the most expensive marauder...
Pfff ahah. I just stole some poor Rohk's mission objective. Best part is that he is using cruises and tach lasers. Wonder if he will shoot me.
[editline]21st December 2011[/editline]
Wow. He ECM burst me. Bravo.

How's my maelstrom? I live in gallente space so i mostly fight serps, hence the anti-therm rig.
[editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
I actually don't like running this cap unstable. Is there a solution that wont gimp the fit too much?
Holy crap, decide on one ship to mission with. You have a Proteus, use that.
Also dont expect to be stable with an x-l.

If you have an active tank don't count on it being stable. There's a reason why you pulse your reps. Wingedwizard is right too, just get a ship that works and stick with it. You also don't need to keep mentioning you have a Proteus. We get it, you have a T3 and you make it work now shut up unless it's relevant. For instance:

What relevance does your Proteus have at all? It's way outside of his price/skill range and just because you made a certain type of fit work on that in no way indicates a similar fitting strategy would work for what he's flying.
[editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
Oh and for the record plates are fine for PVE so long as you don't take them in lieu of resistance mods and some reps.

cap stability is overrated imo - a good burst tank and a high dps output are all you need. 'tank with your guns.'
you might want to consider some falloff rigs instead of the tracking rigs though, as more falloff = more applied damage with autocannons, and you shouldn't have any trouble tracking battleships without it.

alright, thanks.
I hate burst tanks, I don't have the attention span for that shit.
