Actually not bad if you have a gang of them repping eachother, but in this case it looks like it was simply an offlined mod for lols.
Good Evac kills of the night.

Told my friend about the 30 day trial. 2 days later hes mad at me for getting him addicted. I ask what hes up to. He complains that he keeps losing ships. Hes lost 5 already.
Okay, so I decided that I'd try playing this game, but I'm not sure where to start, it looks so much more different than any other MMORPG and is kind of overwhelming.
So, where do I start, what do I do?
Is there any perk to being a trader or a military fighter or whatever?
Also, what kind of "classes" is there beside being maybe a trader or a fighter?
Pod pilots are a master of all trades so there really is no "class". Only things to do and things to train for.
Things to do include;
Missions
Mining
Planetary Interaction
Exploration
Various forms of PvP
-Solo
-Gang
-Blob
-Cloak Gangs
-Ganking
-Pirating
Trade
Ratting
ETC
Well, what should I focus on when I first start? and I'm still not sure where to start.

So sorry.
Anyways, here are some DUST 514 screenshots.
Looks pretty cool from what they've shown us. I'll at least try it out when it eventually comes time for it to release. Kind of reminds me of Battlefield actually (not the Bad Company ones). I hope they'll do some sort of special offer for current EVE players. One thing I still think is really stupid is that they are running around using the M8 that far in the future.

Hard to say really. I did a few missions and mostly corp mining when I started.
That quickly changed when I found out how fun PvP was. From there I mostly did empire wars + mission in my spare time. Salvage provided some funds. Got podded for my first time. Felt terrible. But it was a learning experience.
Basically past that I was a 0.0 Grunt that did ratting/plexes and PvP'd in fleets. I did live in a wormhole for 3 months but I dont recommend that.

I would recommend you start running missions first, learn how the game works and then decide what direction you want to go. If you think you want to eventually get into pvp, ignore the mining and industry skills entirely, as you will never use them.
Train Contracting to one at least. That helps when selling off rare goods.

Contracting is a trade skill, those are useful even to pvpers. Industry is mining and manufacturing.
Close enough.
I mine occasionally. You can make quite good money with it suppositional you have a good mining barge or even an exhumer (optional is a hauler -> get a second account). Do it when you're bored or if you want to take a brake. With this I can make a monthly 100 to 200 million isk addicted to where and what I mine. It's a mostly safe and easy way to get some money.
Group mining in low- nullsec can be quite economical.

Mining is terrible for making ISK

Somebody's never heard of spidertanking vs sleepers
So you can actually profit and evolve from doing Pvp? I realized that doing PVP would just get you killed and make you lose all your stuff, also is there some sort of bank where you can stash your more important stuff?
well, you lose money in pvp if you're bad at it..
just use hangars at npc stations for stashing stuff

It's not. I actually enjoy it. Read again my post and notice my reasons for mining.

Okay you have fun with that then
thank you!
God damn did my first 10/10 escalation with a corpmate and all we got at the end is 23rd Tier Overseer's Personal Effects worth 133 million.

I would say pvp is profitable. Just look at the previous kills I linked. But primarily, pvp isn't a genuine source of income. Many players pay for their pvp activities through belt ratting in 0.0, missioning in highsec, and trading in market hubs.
I caution you against mining for a single reason. The skills cannot be applied anywhere else. If you train up a character for an Exhumer, and then decide to be a pvper, you are shit out of luck and you have to start with no real combat skills. Once you do top out the mining ships though, there isn't really any more room for advancement (other than a 20-day skill for a few more % yield), where in combat ships you have plenty of options to train up for that give you a wider variety of tactics and ships available.
If you choose missionrunning, which is equally peaceful if you get a good, well-tanked ship to do them in, you train up a plethora of combat skills to help you run them easier and faster. These skills are the same ones you need for pvp, so you find yourself ready to head out and pillage when your wallet is happy enough. You can do these missions solo, or with a group, not having to rely on anyone else to help you. To top it off, you can also make a good deal more money in missions than mining, in an equally safe environment.
I was a miner once. I had a character with a hulk and a character in an Orca. It was awesome fun getting up to those ships and using them, feeling badass, for about 2 weeks. At that point, I headed out to 0.0 with my corporation, and once I was there started to train combat skills to survive against reds and neutrals. From there I trained a little bit of every race on my character, testing the waters of pvp. I quickly realized that the training time I had invested was now quite worthless, so I sold my character and bought a new, fully-combat specced one, and have been pvping ever since.
i love to plex in 0.0
the suspense when unknown pilot jumps into a system
and he starts to scan me down
and then racing against time to finish the final overseer before his friends warp in to kill me
Out of curiosity is this game even possible to do anything but mining solo?

Pirating :black101:
Most things in the game can be done solo, it's just more difficult.

Bandwagoning to the max.
But all of Max's posts are dumb, so you can't use him and that rating as a test.

argue, belittle mining, occasional killmail/story/game occurrence, wise up a new player, make fun of max, repeat
