Anyone wanna TL;DR this shitstorm for me?
I'll try...
TL;DR:
CCP Promises tons of content in Incarna Patch.
Actual patch is very graphics intense, and is only about 1/4 of the promised features.
Introduced an ingame clothing store.
Prices in this store are incredibly overpriced. Pants for 150m+, Monocle for 1b+
An internal CCP newsletter is leaked, talking about how to effectively milk players' money.
Players are pissed. Like usual alot of them are overreacting.
(I think that's about it)
CCP won't go through with the micro-transaction crap, they only have 400,000 subscribers (supposedly anyway), they don't have the resources to risk losing a big chunk of their users.
You're underestimating how stupid CCP can be.
Anyone wanna TL;DR this shitstorm for me?
Leaked CCP docu saying CCP wants to implement micro-transaction into eve that will have an effect on gameplay(ammo, ships, faction standings) CCP wants to milk as much money they can from eve, then drop it, and move over to their new world of darkness mmo.
Community is in rage demanding answers, CCP damage control trying to calm down the shitstorm ignoring players demand for answers.
edit: also 80$ monocle already in game, and has been for some time, logically implying CCP wanted the current prices for the silly vanity items.
edit2: CCP will apparently post a dev blog tomorrow answering stuff.
They're going to drop the game? Gee...
Unless I missed something huge, no they're not dropping the game, people are just being whiny and pointing fingers at the fact that CCP develop other games (shocker).
No it's just another idiotic rumor started by bitter vets.
Case in point:

The forums have been a massive drag to look at.
If they actually start to micro-trans ships and stuff, this game wont be any better than WoW.
For shame, I quite like this. :smith:
I was doing the career intro quests and on the last one for advanced combat, I lost my ship and all my gear. So I had to spent ~1m ISK to spec the second ship(it's funny because the first one was named Normandy, so I went with it and almost slapped an SR2 moniker on the new ship) that I also had to buy up to par.
Needless to say, the tide was turned and I killed the terrorist dudes in, like, ten seconds, but still. That's something no game does as good as EVE. Everything you do has true consequences. If you fuck up, you don't respawn and go back to normal, or get rez sickness, or have to repair. You lose money, gear and even skill.
As long as ccp doesn't sell over powered ships/weapons/what have you, and doesn't sell SP, i'm okay with the store.

Good point... I've forgotten all about being able to sell your character.
By the way, strategic cruisers are the closest you'll ever get to the Normandy in EVE, they can do everything in the game essentially, plus they look pretty damn cool. :v:
Excuse me, I have to go train and start saving up as much money as possible to snag one. I wanted to get that Amarr cruiser, the one that's on the login screen now, because the front of it actually looks pretty close to the SR2. The elongated shape, I mean. The rest of it doesn't even look close. But a man can dream.
A man can dream.
But then, only one person can have that char at a time. Anyone can buy the Skillpoints at any time.

Tempted to buy some plexes and try to drive the prices down...
Tempted to buy some plexes and try to drive the prices down...
Shell out a few thousand and you might. Because some wont do it.
Yes max please do, you can clearly effect the plex market all by yourself
Just gimme a second to set some buy orders...
Good luck, they're a little expensive.
What isn't in this game? ;D
The only ships you lose skills on when you get blown up are strategic cruisers, that combined with losing the hundreds of millions (600+) of ISK invested in buying and fitting the ship makes losing one even more painful. :smithicide:
I'm gonna be so scared when I finally get my Tengu, I can already see myself getting podded just because I undocked.

I lost four and I'm damn proud of it.
The cyno jammer is online but there are a bunch of enemy caps in system.
yes, there was a devoter actively cynoing in the cyno-jammed system.
something about maller hulls (or just devoters) that had a cyno fitted pre-incarna being able to cyno where they shouldn't.
i've heard things are already getting fixed & reimbursed though, so all is good.
Finally bought this game after running out of trial time for the 3rd time.
What should I do to get rich etc.? ATM doing the different tutorial missions.

My friend lost 5 Abaddons in a day.
She's one hell of a captain.
World of Darkness MMO will fail.. who wants to play a vampire...... faggotry
I'd quite enjoy being a vampire.

"Right now you can store 50 personal fittings..., thats more than enough for the average EVE player..., why not be able to add more storage for a small amout of money?" - EVE Lead Game Designer
"We're going to face an uphill struggle, and the reason many of us never talk about this publically is that we'd be burned at the stake by the players" - EVE Lead Game Designer
"...i think that's prett goddamn cool, and i'm not entirely sure why that makes me ****** to some EVE players" - EVE Lead Game Designer (a tip Mr, if you feel noone understands you, maybe its you)
"Giving people small amounts of micro-currency for beeing loyal subscribers, or even as a reward for high level gameplay like taking sovereignty..." - EVE Lead Game Designer (lol this quote made my day, you wan't to pay me for taking sov, like the russians do?)
From plain text: "...: we give players the means to buy stuff in addition to their base subscription, offering things like new "nano-paints", that allow one to customize ships while docked; new articles of virtual clothing, tattoos, and other avatar customizations, tokens for customizing Captain's Quarters and so on."
"Not all virtual purchases will focus on customization, some will simply be new items, ammunition, ships, etc. that can be purchased outright."
"First, we don't want to glut the virtual market with too many items...instead we want to provide a steady stream of digestible goods and services over a long period of time..."
"One other service we're looking at is selling faction standings. We want to offer convenience"...(hahaha)
"Incarna cannot be considered a product distinct from other parts of EVE. Incarna and flying in space are merely aspects of EVE...in virtual sales we must all adopt this way of thinking. Thus we will not and cannot focus on virtual sales only within the Incarna evironment, nor build that evironment around such sales, rather we will effect a universal strategy of micro-sales throughout the EVe experience.
Dust: "...to offset the cost of freeloading spectators Dust will have a nominal cover charge..." (i love it when you speak dirty)
Dust: "With no subscriptions in DUST, we have to be careful about selling permanent awsomeness, as there's a danger of saturating the market. When everyone has everything, there's no reason to buy anything anymore. ...(obsolescence referring to the deliberate shortening of a product's lifespan)"
Dust: "Selling 'weapons' for real money is very tempting. ...we are planning on doing so...but the real reason is that we have strong evidence that selling performance enhancers, in moderation, works."
"At a more detailed level, virtual goods sales give a direct, unmistakable line of feedback into what players want....this puts preassure on uns to develop things players actually use, in a way that a sub-based model doesn't" (yes, and thats why you will focus on MT items and not other features anymore)
WoD: "...there are three main areas that virtual goods sales will focus on in the game: cosmetics, items of convenience and items of power."
WoD: "Merit-driven items are locked from purchase until the player achieves specific criteria, hence having to earn the item as well as pay money for it" (this is just great, haha)
Quote: "The question of virtual goods sales is not 'to do ore not to do', rather 'how do we do this' (yep, we know by now, thx for confirmation)
obviously they're not dropping the game.
Personally I don't mind micro transactions for cosmetics, but if they're going to go pay2win then I'm out of here. Though I say, let CCP explain their side of the story first, before pulling the trigger like the majority of the vocal community has already done.
While you already can buy characters and ships with cash already, this still doesn't give you an edge over high SP players with said ships, it does give you an edge over low sp players, but that's it really. Experience is also a huge factor when it comes to PvP.
I'm pissy about the store, even if it is cosmetic only. I put great importance on my appearance in games, especially one where many things are quite formal (nullsec diplomacy etc).
I don't want to be stuck in a shirt and jeans because I don't have $15 to spend.
Because your character appearance really makes a difference.
Not in terms of gameplay, but I like to have a character that looks cool.

Then you will pay the price.
