Out of curiosity what kind of battleship was it? Did you have any fittings on it or were you waiting until you got back to where you came from to fit it?
I once fell for a trap in lowsec, saw a rookie ship at the gate and couldn't resist shooting at it. If the gate sentry guns weren't there I would have had two cruiser kills. Together two cruisers only did about 4000 damage out of 20,000.

it was a Maelstrom. and yeah, no fittings (it only had rigs which came with it since i bought it via contract), i was on the way back to fit it.
