in Oblivion, initiation into the Dark Brotherhood was initially going to be a note left beside your bed that told you to meet Lucien Lachance at Fort Farragut, but it was taken out for some reason (a large variety of beds in different places, perhaps? maybe the developers couldn't find appropriate places in all bedrooms for notes to be left)
