You can get a shield spell?
Honestly I don't know, but you could in previous games, it's like a stoneskin spell that raises your defense.
You can get a shield spell?
You could in Oblivion. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:List_of_Spells_by_Effect#Shield
I don't see why the lack of dual wielding would be a result of lack of buttons, Bethesda probably wants to make the different fighting styles more distinct. Same reason they removed medium armor. Instead of sharing the same capabilities, Bethesda is focusing on specialising the different fighting techniques and armors to make them more diverse. Also I don't care what weapons you're dual wielding, I just don't see blocking being a valid tactic against someone with a twohanded warhammer, you'd think you'd get your own weapons smashed into your face. IMHO Bethesda did the right thing.
You act like people only block against two-handed war hammers. And they could make it so it does smack you in the face if you do do that. Bethesda
Okay i find this so stupid. You cannot block without equiping a shield? so if you are a spell user and a sword user, your forced to take repeated hits from enemies without being able to do fuck all about it?
i find spell users to be more non-direct form of gameplay as i would often have other people fight for me, or burn them to teh ground before they can reach me often my tactics where cast 8 min long super shield then/or reflect if they used magical attacks aswell cast frenzy. pull out dagger fuck shit up cast apocalyptic firestorm move onto next room
You know what guys? I have barely ever blocked in Oblivion. When you see someone about to swing at you, back the fuck away. Problem solved.
You know what guys? I have barely ever blocked in Oblivion. When you see someone about to swing at you, back the fuck away. Problem solved.
I block quite a bit myself. I find myself blocking less now compared to when I started because Combat in Oblivion is ultra-clunky, but I still block nevertheless.
You know what guys? I have barely ever blocked in Oblivion. When you see someone about to swing at you, back the fuck away. Problem solved.
that's incredibly inefficient, though. blocking is much easier and often works better for slower characters
Well i am not much of a spell user or a shield user, i do not like the idea of becoming harry potter and blasting things with spells and crap. And neither do i like the idea of hiding behind a shield so i was hoping that dual wielding would atleast have some kind of block feature. Ohwell, guess it just makes it more challenging
you don't even use wands
Really, what is a staff but a giant wand? :v: Only difference between a Staff and a Wand is that the Staff can help for hiking and makes you look badass. Staves are also easier to block with than a blade
Staves are also easier to block with than a blade
Well, that's not exactly a fact. It does provide a better surface to block with, but it takes a bit more finesse to do so.
Well, that's not exactly a fact. It does provide a better surface to block with, but it takes a bit more finesse to do so.
What, not at all. Blocking with staves is easy if you use both hands, as they are way easier to move into certain positions than blades are. Lightweight oak staves are fucking boss
You do know staves are real weapons right? Designed for to hit people with. They're very dangerous.
I don't think you are going to get far using a Staff as a melee weapon in Oblivion... At least I wouldn't get very far..
Also, you may THINK a staff would break more easily (And yes, it would) but due to the recoil that gets put on your arms instead of the stave, you'd be surprised of how much force they can block. (Still can't block a 2h warhammer though)
you could bash things with staffs in oblivion?
you could bash things with staffs in oblivion?
No :<
you could bash things with staffs in oblivion?
I've never tried, but I assumed you could. It had health, and using magic didn't reduce the health, so I would think the thrust animation you do with it would damage enemies. Even if only when you ran out of charges. I'm not suicidal though, so I haven't actually tried.
No :<
if your staff ran out of power, and you walked up to a wall and tried to use your staff you would be able to see though walls. there was no bashing button for staffs. magic and that was all
What I'm saying is that Normally you'd walk with a Staff in one hand. If you were surprised by combat, or cast a spell with it in one hand, you'd have to awkwardly throw your other hand onto a lower portion and lift it up.

i've only ever wanted one thing in oblivion and that was a walking animation for the staffs maybe my dreams will come true in skyrim
i've only ever wanted one thing in oblivion and that was a walking animation for the staffs maybe my dreams will come true in skyrim
If not, maybe the guy who made Fallout 3: Reanimated will do it!
STOP! I need help with my Oblivion. My Oblivion crashes after I click "Start new game, Yes" then loads. How do I fix this?
Pretty sure you could block with a staff, does blocking a attack reduce weapon health?
I believe you're right.
Pretty sure you could block with a staff, does blocking a attack reduce weapon health?
Yeah. But staves have very high health. I blocked with one through the whole Arena, and it didn't break :v:
Pretty sure you could block with a staff, does blocking a attack reduce weapon health?
Ah okay, I take my statement back then. I did not think of that.
I have 3 copies of Oblivion ARGH
