I think he was kind of going for a more "Thief" sort of look with the UI for stealth due to the vanilla icon being supposedly intrusive. The problem is that the reason the Thief games were able to put the Visibility icon at the bottom of the screen was because it was fairly big and completely opaque, therefore it was easy to keep an eye on using only your peripheral vision, while Darn's UI for Oblivion makes it really small, tucked away in the corner of the screen and generally difficult to see.

Anyone else get the impression they're trying to pigeonhole players into the Warrior/Thief/Mage roles? They keep emphasizing having a tradeskill/guild/star stone thingy for each class, and the new magic system makes spell/1-h weapon the only possible way to be a battlemage.

Not anymore. You might have 100 in blade and be a mage but your perks do not benefit you at all when swinging a claymore. On the other hand, that master swordsman you blindly swing your massive sword at has perks that augment his damage, his moves and his blocking meaning he would make a nice man/mer/beast fricassee
