You can dual-wield some weapons, but you can't hold a shield in your right hand, which I'm sure is not some complicated commentary on the handedness of Zelda's Link (nor is it pre-amble to the worlds worst DLC upgrade, I'm willing to guess)…
Aww, really..? I wanted to play as a left-handed nord... Well, no shields for me then!
This the the source btw: http://kotaku.com/5835394/five-more-things-ive-learned-about-skyrim-about-murder-encumberance-and-other-stuff

I read on the BethSoft forum that lefthandedness was in the game.
No love for the left handed.

This game is going to be annoying on PC, Also, I thought people meant that you couldn't hold two shields at once, not just removing the ability to hold shields in your right hand. I hope there will be a left handed option in Skyrim, because that is apparently the only way to play it on PC.

Oh well, that'll solve it.
I personally am quite happy about there being no durability to weapons and armor. I do like the system in FO3 tho, it was just abit tedious in oblivion sometimes
Also finding a new awesome weapon would kind of be dampened by the remembering of having to constantly repair it
I wish there was a durability and realistic repair system, but not the one where you repair your weapon and it will take hours to do. What I mean is a system where you can deliver your sword to a blacksmith and wait a day or two using another sword and armor/wearing normal clothes and you will get it back or get it delivered to you as good as new.
Probably even add it as a smithing perk where you repair the armor for a while (using the waiting system) and it will do about the same job (depending on the skill).
Does 'Dragon born' have another name (not dovakin or whatever)
because:
'Hi'
'Hi, what's your name, you're new around here aren't you?'
'I am Dragon Born'
'Wow how much skooma did your parents take'
It's a title
Thousands of times this.
Having played Oblivion for some time, I was rather surprised when I ended up in a rather high rank of the Dark Brotherhood when the stealthiest approach I knew was "set that shit on fire and run".
Then I started playing Morrowind, saw the skill requirements for the various guilds and I was like "whoa, this is DEFINITELY a step forward from Oblivion".
Then I realized this game was way older, that Bethesda will never make something as beautifully complex as this again, and wept a little.
Depends what you mean by complex - die-roll mechanics, for example, are a cop-out.

Whatever you want. That's the point.

Uhm... Yes you can. Whoever posted that is retarded, don't worry! (Big surprise, it's Kotaku. :v:)
This info was on the forums, Pete Hines confirmed it on twitter, and it has been one of their major selling points since the games announce!
You choose which hand to put your weapons in, any combination of one handed weapons! (No dual shields, though.)

Just kinda scrolling around Pete's twitter I noticed this...
"...the guy said that there is a racial ability for khajiits "improved melee". is it legit?"
"They get a claw attack bonus for unarmed attacks"
Kinda neat.
[/not sure if late]
[editline]1st September 2011[/editline]
Also... No hardcore mode.

Cancelling preorder now.
You can't duel wield shields, you can't block with a weapon, the block skill's getting shafted this time round.
Cancelling preorder now.
I thought everybody already cancelled because of POINTY NECKS.
You can't duel wield shields, you can't block with a weapon, the block skill's getting shafted this time round.
You can block with a weapon, just not while dual wielding.
In Pete's own words, to balance this and make dual wielding a viable option...
"You get to power attack with either weapon AND the ability to do a combined power attack using both weapons at once."
[editline]1 September 2011[/editline]
Or maybe you can't. I'm not even sure anymore, in a recent tweet Pete said you can block with a two handed weapon but not a one handed weapon.
I don't even know anymore, this lack of blocking/parrying fiasco seems quite silly.
"Holding LT blocks w/ a shield, torch, or two handed weapon. Holding LT and then hitting RT does a bash."

I thought everybody already cancelled because of POINTY NECKS.
why the fuck would they do that
it was because the boobs didn't have beards.
BUT WAIT!
THEN THERE WAS THIS!
"@DCDeacon Thanks! So if you have a 1 hander in your right hand, will LT perform a block if nothing is equipped in left hand?"
"Right"
So that's a yes?
So that's a yes?
I think so...
BUT WAIT!
THEN THERE WAS THIS!

Ah, so I guess only Duel wielders can't block. Shame for them
Uhm... Yes you can. Whoever posted that is retarded, don't worry! (Big surprise, it's Kotaku. :v:)
I knew I had heard it too in that FAN interview, I was just afraid they had removed it or something. Good, I'll still play a left-handed nord then! :D
So that's a yes?
Good god, my heart skipped a beat there.
Why would you want more than a good ol' shield and sword anyway?
So does duel wielding weapons come under the "two handed" skill?
Repairing a blade or bow takes time, a 'realistic repair system' would get old fast.
You can't really repair a bow. If your bow is damaged it's basically fucked.
I'd just hope that blade repair would mainly be sharpening and stuff like that.
To me though it just seems like Bethesda being unintuitive.
I would rather have has it so smithing provided a damage bonus and protection bonus to armor if you do regular maintenance, so if you had a sword you could do maintenance and wind up with a damage bonus based on how good your smithing skill is... and then that bonus deteriorates back down to the weapon's base stats as you use the weapon.
They got rid of Armorer (and subsequently armor/weapon degradation) in exchange for Smithing, which basically means, instead of using your skill and taking all the time to repair your weapons and armor back to full, you use it to upgrade your weapons and armor to better standards.
I know about the smithing skill... but Im not sure that they specified exactly what "upgrade" means.
At any rate, I guess its not all at a loss then.
BUT WAIT!
THEN THERE WAS THIS!
So that's a yes?
And then Pete retconned this. Christ.
I know about the smithing skill... but Im not sure that they specified exactly what "upgrade" means.

Upgrading probably increases the Armor Rating so you don't have to look for better armor types when you level up, which would be cool, because then you could you could be level 50 and still wear Iron Armor like a bawss, but I'm probably wrong...
The armor degradation thing is yet another case of take it out instead of fixing it, damn it Bethesda
So long as upgrading makes a visual change in an item...
