Did the devs ever go over how player housing would work?
It'll be like Oblivion, where you can a buy a house in various locations. Those locations are as of yet undisclosed. Morrowind house system was terrible, in my opinion. I always just killed the person in the last house on the right in Seyda Neen and stored my shit there.
There was a scene like the morrowind housing system in Unbreakable. The guy is like "nice house" and then just busts in and kills/kidnaps the entire family. Maybe that's where Morrowind got it from.
In Morrowind, I always did that Raven Rock quest so I could have a waterfront home in a town with shops I picked.

Also its confirmed you can sleep in an NPCs bed after killing them, so maybe you can steal their house? Probably the BEST house in Morrowind was the one with the dead guy inside. Just break in and whammo, you have a house with an everlasting corpse you can dump items into. But that didn't stop me from clearing out that Castle in Caldera and making it my own fortress. I want to do stuff like this in Skyrim.

I liked the outfitter's house in Balmora. I always killed him and took his house. Though when I got Morrowind for the PC, I build my own house on that plaza.
Why would you kill something like this??? :c
That looks delicious.
That looks delicious.
Brb, Lamb Kebab from local Turkish joint.

If you progress far enough in either House Hlaalu, Redoran, or Telvanni, you get the option to build your own outpost which ends up as your actual house/base. There's also Raven Rock if you have Bloodmoon. Not to mention there were a few abandoned houses in the game such as the shack near (Gnaar Mok I think?) that you could live in right off the bat if you're against murdering people. Oblivion's housing was fine too, of course. I just don't think Morrowind's house system was bad at all. It was awesome being able to choose what house you wanted if you didn't care about murdering people, and you never have to worry about containers being marked as player-owned so all of your shit won't randomly disappear after a week. I hated that so much in Oblivion.
Honestly, anyone who buys this for the console is a fool (unless they don't have a PC good enough for gaming). The mods and console commands pretty much make it a no-brainer for PC.
My PC broke down two years ago, been playing Xbox since... And yes, I am getting Skyrin for the console... And yes it does depress me...
That's it, downloading Morrowind now.
Trying to install the Morrowind Overhaul, but whenever I look at a face I get 9 FPS and for some reason everyone has lines as shadows. EDIT: Jesus Christ, this Jiub guy is ugly, but not THAT ugly. EDIT2: Oops, wrote Oblivion, meant Morrowind.
Disable High res shadows.
Thanks, it fixed both the line-shadow and the face-lag.
My PC broke down two years ago, been playing Xbox since... And yes, I am getting Skyrin for the console... And yes it does depress me...
it should
(That's the same price as the PS3 version, and the Xbox 360 version is like $5 cheaper.)
My question is, why did they decide it was a great deal to knock off $0.45?
you never have to worry about containers being marked as player-owned so all of your shit won't randomly disappear after a week. I hated that so much in Oblivion.
This is what worries me about Skyrim. I'm sure the house options we'll get will be fine, but I want the Morrowind system back. So I hope after killing someone, the container's DON'T respawn.
I prefer buying a house to cold-blooded murder.
I prefer buying a house to cold-blooded murder.
The downside is when the options are very limited. All those lovely houses in the Imperial City, and the only thing you can get is a lousy little shack.
The downside is when the options are very limited. Rule Tamriel from your phallic new pad. [sp]Then get assassinated by the Mythic Dawn.[/sp]
I liked the house you could get in Skingrad, you could get a free balcony by lockpicking it so you don't have to spend a lot of money just to get access to a part of your house that already exist. I also hoped the furniture were more customizable, like if you want a dark dungeon home to imprison your wife in, you could select furniture and items that fits that. Through, I agree that Morrowind had the best housing system, but isn't it a bit "too" easy to get a house by murdering a person? Especially in Skyrim since no NPCs are important due to the fact that they will get replaced.

I hope we can get a nice cosy house in the woods. but only if it has satellite, can't live with cable.
I'm not sure if there's an incredibly obvious answer to this but since the Elder scrolls games have legions of modders following them, I've been wondering if a skyrim co op mod would be possible, or if it's been done in any other elder scrolls game
oblivion was modded with a very buggy experimental multiplayer mod never really saw it take off but it looks HIGHLY unlikely this will ever happen
damn it, they did it to just cause 2 and that looked fun. I was hoping that I could fight dragons with my friend.
The only co-op mod that even remotely worked that I know of was MultiTES4, which seems to have been abandoned years ago from the looks of it. I really doubt anyone will be willing to go through with a co-op mod for Skyrim. It wouldn't fit in the first place, it would take a ridiculous amount of time to implement, let alone balance, and the game isn't even built for any kind of synchronization between players. It might be a bit more possible now that time and space doesn't completely freeze when conversation is initiated, but it's still incredibly unlikely that any co-op mods will take off. In short: Probably not.
I guess i'll just have to live with venturing skyrim alone [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline] Can someone explain this please: FuntomToys: something pretty freaky just happened to me in oblivion Goodthief: what? FuntomToys: i was looking through console commands online and i saw one that killed ur own player FuntomToys: and i used it Goodthief: and you died? FuntomToys: the screen then flipped around so that i was looking at my characters face Goodthief: lol what FuntomToys: the character wasnt moving his face FuntomToys: but then he started sliding backwards FuntomToys: and his face started getting darker FuntomToys: and then i alt tabbed and closed the game lol Goodthief: hahaha wow, do it again and film it
Hooray, Pete Hines responded to me!
@iamjethro The map is part of the first run. It just comes in the game.
http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon So basically you don't HAVE to pre-order. Just make sure you buy Skyrim before they ship out more copies.
I really wish Bethesda would release the PC System Requirements.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/01/skyrim-preview/#more-71839 forgive me if I'm late on this, but FALMER CONFIRMED WHAT
This gets me more hyped than anything else I've seen so far.
