Adding multiplayer to The Elder Scrolls is a terrible idea. It sounds fun, sure... But there's absolutely no way it could do the series justice. To be realistic about it, they'd have to cut back on all of the immersion and expansiveness that the series is famous for. There's no way that the character creation system, the world detail, the open-world map, the amount of quests and just the over-all feel of the game could stand up to standards if there was a multiplayer function. It sounds great on paper but it just wouldn't work out. Multiplayer in TES is something I personally don't want to ever see happen.
Yeah I know right, it's not like the elder scrolls games have companion characters in them, it's not like you could allow people the same freedom as that, co-op players are companions who like any NPC could, interact with NPCs, buy equipment etc only with added player mechanics so leveling up and shared quests. Course it would have to be un-teathered so a companion could run off if they wish. The fact people are so blind to how easy a satisfying co-op experience could be put into the elder scrolls is silly.

Balancing and probably an engine revamp would be necessary... the level design would also have to change to keep an extra persen actually useful/entertained. If it was easy, they would have added it.
Ooh, character creation http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-11-elder-scrolls/721142 I like the fact that there are less sliders that perform more general changes to appearance since it was really fucking hard to make a character that stood out from the default faces on Oblivion without making him/her some kind of deformed inbred mutant, or at least it took time or mods Also scars and warpaint for Khajiit [editline]10:35[/editline] also what fitting music
Tiger preset fuck yes.

Borderlands for example has level design perfectly suitable for a single player.
If Skyrim had Saints' Row 2 or Fable style co-op it would be very very good.
If Skyrim had Saints' Row 2 or Fable style co-op it would be very very good.
It would be hard to balance EVERYTHING and make it so the game scales for two players at the same time. The core designs that they've worked on and enhanced over the years is based around single player and it would be too much work to adjust it for co-op.
Is it bad I think the female Khajit is hot as fuck
I'm not sure how co-op would be bad, given that we can already have people come along with us. (The only difference would be real intelligence and strength perhaps)
recommended will probably be something around an 8800gt
why all the funnies, this game isn't going to be particularly demanding [editline]17th September 2011[/editline]
Ooh, character creation http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-11-elder-scrolls/721142 I like the fact that there are less sliders that perform more general changes to appearance since it was really fucking hard to make a character that stood out from the default faces on Oblivion without making him/her some kind of deformed inbred mutant, or at least it took time or mods Also scars and warpaint for Khajiit [editline]10:35[/editline] also what fitting music
my god I hope sex is a sliding scale like in saint's row
Co-op won't be happening any time soon. Elder Scrolls is unequivocally a single player series. Though co op could fit in very well, I don't see them adding it.
I'm not sure how co-op would be bad, given that we can already have people come along with us. (The only difference would be real intelligence and strength perhaps)
How do you solve the problem of having to scale enemies for two different players each with their own stats etc. Also take into account Skyrim has adaptive story elements depending on your skills and shit so it would be even harder with that.
Is it bad I think the female Khajit is hot as fuck
Depends, is it specifically the female Khajit, or more to do with the idea of Skyrim characters? Former is wrong, latter is what everyone in this thread feels all the time.
Co-op won't be happening any time soon. Elder Scrolls is unequivocally a single player series. Though co op could fit in very well, I don't see them adding it.
They said that there wont ever be any kind of multiplayer in any future TES game.
You didn't live in the N64 era, did you?
Of course I did, I played N64 on the console itself and I play N64 to this day via emulators. Those games do not call for immersion though. EDIT: Really, dumb? So you go into playing Super Mario 64 and you get sucked into the point that you feel like you're actually Mario? What the fuck....
Co-op won't be happening any time soon. Elder Scrolls is unequivocally a single player series. I'd cry in happiness if that happened, although it's extremely doubtful.
Is it bad I think the female Khajit is hot as fuck
I guess you like giraffes then...
They said that there wont ever be any kind of multiplayer in any future TES game.
Well, at least we'll always have Battlespire.
How do you solve the problem of having to scale enemies for two different players each with their own stats etc. Also take into account Skyrim has adaptive story elements depending on your skills and shit so it would be even harder with that.
Simple. Both players will level at the same time, and require both players to contribute in leveling.(Two separate bars of XP, both need to be filled before both players can level up.)
Sad to see there's no height options. I want to be a 7ft tall Nord warrior :(
You can be fat in this game through.
Sad to see there's no height options. I want to be a 7ft tall Nord warrior :(
wow who needs a height slider when you can be all dirty and shit
Sad to see there's no height options. I want to be a 7ft tall Nord warrior :(
I hated that guy "Hill the Tall" in Oblivion, why can't I be a giant nord like him!
That weight slider wasn't as intense as I thought it would be. I was hoping it would make you go mega buff. I guess I'll have to see it for myself though. And I wonder how the Weight slider will affect current modded meshes from Oblivion. I wonder if they'll be totally incompatible or if they'll need to be adjusted or made from scratch.
its really not that easy... If it was easy, they would have added it.
It really would be that simple, assuming a a companion scales in level with you when you take them out the content wouldn't need extra balancing. As for the level design, not really. Worse comes to worse a little extra spawning.
Simple. Both players will level at the same time, and require both players to contribute in leveling.(Two separate bars of XP, both need to be filled before both players can level up.)
Both would HAVE to be at the same level and in which case, you would need two separate characters one for single and one for co-op. Also take into account just how exactly are you going to save the progress between the two co-op characters. Say I have my character that I finished doing co-op with my friend, I've leveled him up in SP but my friend hasn't, if we use that system you described then it wouldn't be possible for me to play with him because the levels wouldn't match. The fix for that is only allowing players to play with people of the same level and in which case, means I can't play with my friend thus defeating the purpose.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-11-elder-scrolls/721142 Character creation demonstrated, with really strange music playing for some reason. Edit: Oh is this late? Sorry I didn't see the link before, must have missed it.
I hated that guy "Hill the Tall" in Oblivion, why can't I be a giant nord like him!
I want to be a Giant Dick Canadian like Scott.
