Is that dick in the op really necessary?
Is that dick in the op really necessary?
Yes
On the topic of amor slots being merged and everyone bitching about how terrible it is: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1205696-what-ashley-cheng-is-saying/ Post #13
That's a vague, noncommittal response if I ever heard one. [editline]30th June 2011[/editline]
I hate that too. if you are given a role, it's NOT ROLEPLAYING. In baldur's gate you had a role in the story, but WHY was up to you, not the GAME.
In Baldur's Gate, you were a Bhaalspawn.
personally I don't care too much if the armours have legs and torso combined, as long as the clothes are separate pieces. I liked running around topless.
I hope that in Skyrim I'm still able to make deformed monsters of characters.
I love how everyone bitches and moans when beth does something when making a game but when the game comes out its still a great game.
I love how everyone bitches and moans when beth does something when making a game but when the game comes out its still a great game.
People have to whine about something, else the balance of the universe is thrown off.
I love how everyone bitches and moans when beth does something when making a game but when the game comes out its still a great game.
Just like MW2 and dedicated servers.
I love how everyone bitches and moans when beth does something when making a game but when the game comes out its still a great game.
Duke Nukem Forever, for example, it's good but could've been better. but y'know, if they make the customize simpler, it kinda ruins the bethesda experience. all of the other games have a pretty complex face customization (fallout for example) they shouldn't make it worse in the sequel, it's stupid.
Just like MW2 and dedicated servers.
except it still sucked, games getting dropped and 900 ping everywhere
Oh god what the fuck is this dick doing at the banner there?
Oh god what the fuck is this dick doing at the banner there?
last thread a dude posted that pic and then BAM G-Strogg used it.
I love how everyone bitches and moans when beth does something when making a game but when the game comes out its still a great game.
Bethesda always makes great games. Great games, but great game with some unnecessary flaws. Just, the issue as I see it is that theres are lots of things they could make almost perfect, but they often insist on implementing risky gameplay changes that often flat out dont work, or dont play as well as they should. IE: level scaling in Oblivion. Im sure they thought it was a good idea when they put it in, but then like 95% of people hated it, then Bethesda themselves went "wtf did we do". Dont really have a problem with the way they are doing things in skyrim, but I'm positive that after I play the game; despite its total awesomeness, there'll be plenty of things they easily could have been done better. Wont let that get in the way of the experience when I finally get to play it, though :holy: [editline]30th June 2011[/editline]
Oh god what the fuck is this dick doing at the banner there?
Durgon dongs are "in" these days, go with the flow, man
We've had this roleplaying argument before, playing a role is not roleplaying. if it was EVERY GAME would be a roleplaying game, halo has you play a role, call of duty has you play a role, ect. roleplaying (at least to me) is D&D style character building, choices, being your own created character and not the one that the game devs made up for you. in dragon age 2 you HAVE to be Hawke, you can't not be him, sure you can change a bit about him but you're still him.
Every game gives you a role, and really, this game is just giving you one aspect of a character. Being a dragonborn doesn't mean anything if you don't make it mean anything(ideally), all the aspects of RPGS are in this game(As far as we all know). You're still clearly in control of the direction of the character. I don't see how you can complain about having any sort of back story, when I'm fairly sure every game gives the characters some backstory. Even in total RPG's I've noticed, even if they're vague, still some info, right?
It's like whining that in Oblivion you don't have the option to not start in a prison or to save the Emperor. Its going to happen EVERY playthrough. Just like in Skyrim you will be the Dragonborn EVERY playthrough. Deal with it.
I agree with some of what Rahkshi Lord is saying. I hope that you don't discover you are Dragonborn at the very beginning so that you can ignore the main quest if you want and just play as a normal adventurer or anything that you want to be. It's not so much that I don't like a game to have a storyline or that I don't ever want to play as the Dragonborn, I just want as much freedom as is possible. For Bethesda to make such a huge, open world with things like radiant story, something of a working economy, all of these different NPCs, dungeons and other locations filled with quests that have nothing to do with the main plot, it would be ludicrous to force people to play a specific role in that story that they do not want to play. I've always thought that freedom was the defining aspect in games like these, allowing you to make your own character.

And personally I don't want them to change it now. I like the feeling of 'rags and shambles to glistening force of nature' that the Elder Scrolls gives. It won't be believable to me if the grandest hero/killer in all the land turns out to be also Dovahkiin. Oh, and you can't really be a normal adventurer in the TES series, it implies that the world has a more than fair chance against you.

I had one where you started with shit clothes and an apple, on some boat in Anvil (and you could start the storyline by getting jailed in the Imperial city), I assume the same will eventually be for Skyrim.
Duke Nukem Forever, for example, it's good but could've been better. but y'know, if they make the customize simpler, it kinda ruins the bethesda experience. all of the other games have a pretty complex face customization (fallout for example) they shouldn't make it worse in the sequel, it's stupid.
Yeah, you wanna make faces like:

Just play the damn game when it comes out, guys. No sense of whining about it now.
Just about every Elder Scrolls game had you be someone. Morrowind had you be the Nerevarine. Oblivion had you be... Well okay, nothing. I don't see what the big deal is.
DA Savior of Kvatch and shit.
Daggerfall's faction play had its charm, because you could really side with anybody you wanted, and it wasn't really a "save the world" questline. I have trust that they wont really force the main quest on you. TBH I didnt really like the way Oblviion started, sort of felt like the game was rushing you "you MUST get to jauffre, you MUST get to kvatch, you MUST get to cloud ruler temple, etc" Morrowind was paced a bit better, and I'm hoping Skyrim will be handled in a similar fashion. Like, send the character out to do some mundane work that isnt directly related to the main quest, or make it so the player needs to side up with a guild or something. There should be one or two smaller MQ quests before the questline begins to pick up. In oblivion right off the bat you feel like everything is depending on you, whereas Morrowind had a bit more RP value because its like "wahoo, im out of prison," and if you want you can leave the Emperor's note in a pool of swamp excrement then do whatever you want without a care.

Guys if you study every aspect and every detail about Skyrim beforehand, then what is there left to play? Obviously the game, but there will be no surprises. I've always liked Oblivion, and kind of looking forward to Skyrim too but I'm not so excited I dig through the world maps and shit before the game is even out. I mean what the fuck, really?

I don't mind limited facial customization that much. How often do you go into third person and look at your character's face anyway? Most of the time you're either playing in first person or your face is obscured by a helmet. Plus, no matter how many sliders you mess with in Oblivion your face comes out looking pretty much the same every time. I like how Caius Cosades makes you do some work for a guild before you can advance in the storyline, it directs the player to explore more of the world rather than just do the quest line.
Yeah I pretty much never look at my character's face. Other than in the menu, of course. Even then I often have a helmet covering most of it.
Yeah I pretty much never look at my character's face. Other than in the menu, of course. Even then I often have a helmet covering most of it.
I just use sexchange twice. No more face, no more problem. Sorta grew on me.
Yeah, who picked the title. Well, lets get this thread over with.
Do want.
I hope Khajiits and Argonians are able to use claws again this time around, I missed it from morrowind. :v:
