It feels really shallow to say this, but the big thing that won me over was how improved the character models look. I mean, despite obsessing over character creation for hours in Oblivion, I was never really pleased with how my character looked.
That's not to say that I won't appreciate the major and minor game play improvements and tweaks.
Trust me, I think we're all pleased that our characters will no longer look like mutant potatoes.

Why can I wear [sp] the grey fox's cowl[/sp], and have everybody recognize me?
i can't wait to get some mutton chops
Why can I wear [sp] the grey fox's cowl[/sp], and have everybody recognize me?
What?
Why can I wear [sp] the grey fox's cowl[/sp], and have everybody recognize me?
IIRC the only real use for the cowl is to divert any fines you may accrue whilst wearing it onto the [sp]grey fox[/sp] so that you can switch back to not wearing it and not have to pay your fine later.
I'm not sure if I want heavy armor or light armor.
Or one handed or two handed..
Please tell me these places are actually going to be in the game.
Yes, but they won't look nearly as awesome and they will be covered in snow.

Is it really necessary to spoiler tag that?
The game's been out for around 5 years now.

I'm probably either going to go around like a ranger with a good sword and a bow and patrol the woods or be a smug wood elf archer who has high speech craft.
That being said I wish there were more things to do with persuasion. It would be cool to have high favor with the nobles and be asked to see them or hold court with them or something.
I remember Todd saying that weather will be dynamic and areas with snow will change and such.
I'm certain he was talking out of his ass on that one; can anyone show something to confirm?
I'll be focusing on One-Handed, Illusion, Sneak and Archery to begin...

I'm sure weather is "dynamic", but I can't imagine it changing the areas.
Heavy armor, two-handed master race.
In all reality, I'll probably play as two wildly apposing characters my first two runs; since I almost always play as a tank in RPGs.
heavy armor + bow
what i want is double shields with shield bashing though

He said the areas in the mountain when it was snowing wasn't done by any mappers and that the weather system itself had snow go there. Again, seems pretty obvious that's BS, I just want to know why Todd says these completely false things?

The snow adds a material over time over the textures. Kinda like source engine's blend textures in day of defeat source.
The snow would be like on the right except more gets added over time. It's just a guess.

i just hope the clear to snowy transition won't be as crappy as i think it'll be
i just hope the clear to snowy transition won't be as crappy as i think it'll be
Just aslong as the snow is intelligent to the point where it knows where there shouldn't be snow, like under a roof outside in most cases.

Not an excuse for lying to the consumer. :v:
[editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
Has anyone who has played Skyrim dropped a weapon and had an NPC interact with it in some way or another like that Gameinformer magazine was talking about?
Cause that's what I'm kinda skeptical about.
[editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
Damn, it's been quite a while but I think the magazine said that if you drop a weapon, an NPC will come up to you and offer it to you again, two NPCs will fight over it, or an NPC will just take it.
[editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
IF THAT'S NOT IN THE GAME I'M CANCELLING MY PREORDER

Calm your balls there skippy, that's an over time deal and is based heavily around chance and your "fame" in that area. It's not like you drop it and then instantly every NPC in the town runs over to it screaming at you to pick it up.
Basically, if you drop a sword in the middle of the town, by accident or otherwise, an NPC might pick it up after you walk away and run it back to you to make sure you didn't accidentally drop it. Or, another NPC might pick it up and keep it for himself, two NPC's might fight over it... And perhaps nobody will give a crap and just let it rust in the streets, Etc.
[editline]pooplol[/editline]
Also, I do believe what Todd meant by "dynamic" is that the weather affects are no longer a crappy animation pasted over the player's HUD like it was in Oblivion, but rather an actual "dynamic" effect on the land itself.

you just wished for intelligent snow
Given what Oblivion was said to have and what we actually got, I'm a bit skeptical about anything involving NPCs and random non scripted events
Basically the only thing non scripted was dialogue between one another when they happened to randomly walk by each other, which was just chosen from a table, to which a reply for anything was chosen from another table, and then another reply.... then farewell. Every conversation was like that. Boring
You never see any NPCs eat poison apples you lay around (except during one quest) because they don't actually get hungry and want to eat...
I really hope Skyrim just overhauls NPCs. I'd like to see them have jobs, go home afterwards, Eat or read, go to the merchants, then sleep, and go back to their job in the morning. Oblivion BARELY implemented the Jobs/Close/Sleep schedule
Then again, Oblivion came out in 2006 and was a sequel to Morrowind, so can't really complain since they did go quite a few steps beyond as it is, with NPCs
I want to see NPCs killing all their pets :v:

They can eat poison apples (though it's hard to do because they don't eat often), and they do have schedules (though not proper "jobs" unless they're a merchant)
I agree it needs vast improvement in Skyrim, but there was the basis of something great in there

I personally HATE watching game demos from before they were released. The game was always better as shown in the demo. It's like concept art.
I mean, just out of frustration, I'm going to list ALL the things in this video that are better than in the final game:
- The demo is played on the PC! How about that. "PCs are hard to play on stage" my ass.
- It's probably just the low video quality, but the graphics seem to look a lot better in this video than in the final game. I think it's not only because the video is slightly darker, it also has better shadows.
- The voice acting was much better.
- The conversations were personalized.
- Dat Dark Elf voice.
- Getting a new topic actually required you to listen to the entire conversation.
- The Legion actually protects every Imperial city, like they should. I sometimes wonder at what point in development they thought "Hey, let's have the Imperial Legion ONLY in the Imperial City! Yeah! That makes sense!" I mean, giving the city's guards personalized Legion armor or something, okay, but...
- Dynamic conversation based on time and place.
[*]What would the Demand button in Persuasion have done? That wasn't in the final game, was it?
- You can keep someone company...
- Radiant AI! I think everyone has already said enough on this.
- Actual inter-NPC reactions!
- SUTCH!
- Oddly, I don't remember anyone complaining about potato faces back then.
All in all, Oblivion always gets me in my nit-picking mood.
The worst this demo does is remind me how lame the Skyrim demo is, comparatively speaking.
Bethesda lie. They make decent games but they lie out of their ass and make themselves sound better than they are.

Hence why I largely ignore their press stuff to be honest. Hype is a dangerous thing.
Still, they're not on Molyneux levels.
