How should I be playing my thief? I feel like I'm doing no damage at all with any weapon. Doing the final quest in the thieve's guild and getting my ass kicked at normal (middle of slider) difficulty against all these dread zombies.

yeah but you made a very ineffective character. as a thief either you sneak past all your enemies and avoid fighting or you use bows effectively and get very quick kills. if by a certain level your character starts to fall completely out of balance with the rest of the world you made a shit character.

for instance, as a warrior at a certain level you need to have 100 endurance or you'll die very quickly.

oblivion is an amazingly complex game so you need one of these planners to reveal the mysteries

so by level 8 you need 100 endurance and you should start off with 65 at the beginning...

use illusion because invisibility is your best friend. tag it as a major skill and get it up to 50 as quick as possible so you can use that spell. you need to use magic if you wanna survive at the harsher levels.

and male wood elf or male khajit are the best races for that

You guys are making Oblivion sound like Diablo 2, with all your character building and stuff, when it really isn't - Oblivion is piss easy, unless you make a magic only character. Otherwise I don't really see how you can fuck a character up unless you are playing on hard and skipping a lot of quests.
