Alright,.. finally got my preorder in. Feels like a load off my back.
Now I just have to wait 4 weeks until the game is out :tinfoil:
Sorry if I'm late, but apparently repairing is gone, and so is item condition.

Is that true? Wouldn't that mean grinding wheels at the smithies are kind of unnecessary?
When/where was this announced? I don't remember it.

The smithing is for improving weapons and armor, not repairing them

Honestly I don't have a problem with that.
Repairing was done so badly it felt more like an afterthought than a game mechanic, really. Glad it's gone
Goddamn, can't preorder this game right now because if I do then I won't have enough money to pay for my mom's subscription to Amateur Photographer when it comes out this month.
Cool, got Morrowind GOTY edition for 75p today.
I'm starting to get second thoughts about shelling out $250 for the CE...but I can afford it. If i get my allowance this month i will be bathing in money.

Pity then that you get so little for the collectors edition.

11/11/11 in Canada is Remembrance Day, there isn't any school on that day.
Also I'm going to Disneyland on that day

Still, it was nice to have something as a character who uses sword and steel to bring you more into the role by having to maintain your weapons if you are a heavy user of them.
Though, they made up for it by adding smithing - that seems like it supports a similar role but will have it more about doing crafting and upgrading instead of making sure your weapons are top repaired.
Also, as an aside, I absolutely LOVE how dark souls handles weaponry. Every weapon feels different and has their own uses (i.e. a short sword does less damage but doesn't cause you to recoil backward when you hit a wall with it by accident, etc). They also have this awesome system where your character strength and skill affect how you use a weapon. So if a weapon requires 40 str but you only have 16 (per hand) you can still two-hand the weapon but you'll be really slow and sluggeshm, as well as really open to attacks.
Basically it works a lot like what morrowind wanted to achieve (weapons deal X amount of damage and have X uses in certain situations), but its all real-time and no-chance hits, vs. Morrowind's dice-roll "You missed!" system. Your character simply performs much more sluggish depending on what skill is required to use said weapon.
I feel like that's the perfect system for real time RPG combat. All this shit where you having 20 skill in swords makes you magically do -10 damage per hit but you still perform the weapon just as good as level 100 was always such a silly and lazy way to do things. Dark Souls has some of the best RPG combat I've seen on the other hand. Everything feels weighty and purposful. It also makes you want to stick with older weapons, simply because if your skills increase you can use newer ones better but you also use older ones better too. I wouldn't mind using or making some kind of mod that emulates the above, but it would be so hard to do I imagine, and probably not possible with their editing tools.

Getting that game Wednesday, it looks awesome

Aw man, thanks for telling me, I was bummed thinking I'd have too much schoolwork!

It is. Very tactical and "realistic" fantasy combat gameplay just because of how simulated everything is. Even small stuff like doing a dodge roll when you have heavy armor and heavy weapons with not high enough strength and dexterity is simulated to a believable degree.
And if you are fighitng a big bad-ass enemy with a giant two handed weapon, its easy to go "Yeah, I'll die in one hit from that fucker"

presumably it's sold out everywhere, these things tend to do that
not that it's any loss considering what a fucking ripoff it is
I hope someone will scan the collectors edition artbook.

I genuinely read that as "Amateur Pornographer" at first. I was about to make a confused reply and everything.

Where the hell do you live in Canada?
I have school that day.

That was actually a typo. Amateur Pornographer is the magazine my mom gets off to. Pretty nasty I know.

Wait wait wait... you know what your mum gets off to?
Wait wait wait... you know what your mum gets off to?
What, doesn't everybody?
Nope... my mum has a boyfriend for that stuff...

I think this may be on of those times where "pics or bullshit" is valid

Of the mags or his mum getting off to the mags.
There will be in the future, just like hovercrafts and better tasting food.
Ha, you're so unimaginative. We're going to have edible hovercrafts in the future. There; world famine solved!

I've never gotten Remembrance day off in all 13 years of grade school I did. And i went to 3-4 different schools.

My mom's 59 dude, that'd be weird. Anyway let's get back on topic, what about the rumour that Spyro's making a cameo appearance huh?
