Nope, spellmaking has been removed.
Ninjad.
I wonder why they did it though. What does anyone have to gain from not having custom spells? :/

I don't want it.
I need it.
So i know you can marry pretty much anyone (with probably some exceptions), but can you marry people of the same sex ?
Just incase a make a female character.
Anyone know if you can make spells like you can in Oblivion? If so, is the dragon shout technically a spell type? I wanna have a spell called "Verbal Harrassment" that scares enemies away. :v:
dragon shout is not a spell type.

Main reason i think was overpowered one second spells.
This article just completely obliterated my hopes for this game in one fell swoop.
God damn, it really sounds like they're building the game to cater to the extra-casual retards.
Most writers there write extremely out of character and hardly mean what they say. They probably get paid to write articles to sound a certain way.
Howard explained the stats, and this is how I interpreted it: The skills this time around work very much like skills in real life; if you do something enough, you will get better at it. That is what casual players will enjoy, they don't have to really see any of their stats, but they are still there. RPG players can still train according to their stats and make very explicitly specialized characters.
I just realized that of all the fans of different games, Skyrim's fanbase is the most obsessive, haha.

So pretty much the same as since morrowind (and possibly even form the beggining
Yeah, I felt that the entire article was written like a Bethesda sales pitch to the average Joe gamer.
I sincerely hope that it doesn't feel even more dumbed down than Oblivion.
Well in an Interview Todd did mention about removing skills that were redundnant and practically useles (so kinda like how oblivion smushed all of morrowinds different blade skills into one single one)
Old but pretty much reflects everyone who is in this hread's feelings.

I do not feel comfortable looking at this image.
Just traded my Max's Severed Head for this and two Fallout New Vegas DLCs.
I loved that hat, but I have to say I love this game even more (It hasn't even come out yet, too).
I hope I get my 560 Ti before release. Otherwise I'll have to wait even longer.
oh and a side note. How well do you think a 560 Ti can run Skyrim?

Should be able to max it out, I'd be surprised if not.

Same since Daggerfall actually
Daggerfall has the best skill system out of the three games (three being DF, MW and OB). There's no grind and it feels natural when you level up, and you can just put your attribute points into whatever you want. None of that grinding shit to "optimize" your level-ups so your character isn't an invalid when you reach level 40.

What do you mean by "'optimize' your level ups"?
You read IGN, you are not worthy of Skyrim.
The only path you can take now is redemption, behead yourself.
I read IGN since their articles are so easy to find when Im in a hurry, and they almost always have a video review (im lazy) but you need to take just about everything they say with a [del]grain[/del] spoon of salt.
Sometimes they'll find a guy who reviews a game fairly and unbiasedly, or if he is biased he'll tell you, but other times they'll just give a game review to some biased moron who tarnishes it because it isn't call of doody.. that article is the latter.. but in a positive way. Extreme analogy: It'd be like if a bunch of stormfront guys came out and said they love skyrim because you can freely kill so many black people; it's good that they like the game but it cant help but damage the reputation with just about everybody else :v:
Hopefully no super-major outcomes depend on a speechcraft check without sufficient minor ways to grind it up.
"The reason why I can't wait for Skyrim is that it is not an RPG, it's an escape-hatch to another world." - IGN Article
So it's a roleplaying game?
What do you mean by "'optimize' your level ups"?
Well in Morrowind and Oblivion if you level up "the wrong" stuff, when you level up you get crappy attribute options, like +2 to everything as opposed to something like +5.
You'll be practicing your sword skills so you can get stronger and do moire damage to try and defeat these enemies that are leveling with you, and then you accidentally level up your alchemy skill and it'll quite literally take a point away from your strength attribute for it, as if getting smarter somehow stops you from getting stronger as well. It was a bad system, and not something Daggerfall had.
I just hope the SDK releases with the game on 11th. Or, a bit later, as long as it releases. I'm a bit disappointed on Rage, which the CEO promised that the SDK would ship along side with the game.
I'm playing Oblivion, I just got to the Imperial City for the first time on this play through. I'm at the docks and decided to go on a killing spree. I remove my bounty with the console when I get tired of it (after about 4 people and 2 guards). Suddenly, a guard runs up, and starts to randomly attack civilians. He's killed 4 people so far, and now he's in the dock tavern attacking the bartender.

Maybe your bounty-removal made him lose his brain? He can't abide criminal scum; and this thing he does WITH THE FIST OF AN ANGRY DAEDRIC PRINCE.

Maybe he's just the greatest guard who's ever lived. I mean, it is a crime in Cyrodiil to move a fork
