To be honest, apart from the NPC, that looks like something from Oblivion. I mean that's some really ugly textures.
I don't expect all that much improvement on a six year old platform, PC will not have this issue.
I don't expect all that much improvement on a six year old platform.
I really hope that it looks better on the PC. I'm sure it will, I'm just hoping the extent to which it does is orders of magnitude better.
To be honest, apart from the NPC, that looks like something from Oblivion. I mean that's some really ugly textures.
The textures look fine, better than Oblivions. Besides, it's not as if the 360's rendering capabilities have increased since that game anyway. [editline]17th October 2011[/editline]
I don't expect all that much improvement on a six year old platform, PC will not have this issue.
Keep in mind that unless they've really taken their time with the PC port the textures will probably be the same as the console version's. [editline]17th October 2011[/editline]
Very educated and well chosen post.
dude it looks fine, and from what I can tell from that post statics actually cast shadows, which is amazing
Anyone know when the specs are out? I guess last week it was said to come out in one week... oh wait, isn't that this week?
If you're getting it for PC what will you guys use for controls? I've been playing oblivion with my xbox controller but I might try Skyrim with mouse and keyboard.
I'll just play default keyboard and mouse settings like always.
Anyone know when the specs are out? I guess last week it was said to come out in one week... oh wait, isn't that this week?
according to everyone in this thread the recommended specs will be a 470, 6GBs of RAM and a 3GHZ hexacore according to everyone in this thread that's not retarded (mostly me) it'll probably be slightly higher than oblivion, something like an 8800GT, 2gbs of RAM and a 2.4GHz dualcore
Apparently there won't be werewolves in Skyrim, but they may be added in a DLC http://www.9lives.be/games/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/specials/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-interview
Is it an idea of werewolves DLC add to the game? Maybe so, yes. We currently have no werewolves in the game stopped, but it's definitely something to think about. What we do in the game, are vampires. How progressive you will play the vampire, the more people you will begin to attack cities. Also, the vampire also much weaker during the daylight.
Google translate, original text below for native speakers.
I'm worried the controls for this are going to be centered more around the xbox controller and It'll be awkward on a keyboard.
If you're getting it for PC what will you guys use for controls? Skyrim on Intkeys for $29.99 Wow.
I don't expect all that much improvement on a six year old platform, PC will not have this issue.
Plus, for PC anyway, I'm sure people will ocme along and do texture mods for it that improve it.
I think that atmosphere will really be the star of this game and is something they're trying to nail down to make as excellent as possible. Everyone is wondering about textures and such, and I think that the artistic side is being sort of brushed under the rug for the desire of incredible technical aspects from the game. Not to say that the high tech side can't coexist wonderfully with the artistic parts of a game, but as I've seen the great graphical capabilities of the PC on stuff like Deus Ex from playing on my bf's computer, while owning the console version myself, I feel that the atmosphere and artistic direction play an incredibly large role in the look of a game, technically advanced or not, and that I'm not deterred from the look just because I don't have incredibly high resolution textures and such. Look at how many people love the look and feel of Morrowind over the atmosphere that Oblivion provided. That said, I would love to be able to play a game to its full visual potential, and understand why PC gamers would want the best from their gaming experience. I just appreciate the new artistic direction Bethesda has taken for their new creation to look great on the console as well. The feel they're conveying speaks to me more, even if they can't provide the most realistic visuals. Games like Dark Souls and Deus Ex both have incredibly immersive and enthralling worlds, even if they fall flat on some technical points here and there, and both are highly praised as two of the best games of the year. I have no doubt Skyrim will be any different.
I'm worried the controls for this are going to be centered more around the xbox controller and It'll be awkward on a keyboard.
As long as it has rebindable keys, which it should, controls will be fine.
I'm worried the controls for this are going to be centered more around the xbox controller and It'll be awkward on a keyboard.
If you play on PC I guess the most wise choice would be to play left-handed.
Look at how many people love the look and feel of Morrowind over the atmosphere that Oblivion provided.
Other way round, Morrowind has more atmosphere to it, despite the dated graphics look (though to be fair, in its time it looked great)
how do you sleep at night (probably pretty poorly considering how tooth-rippingly difficult it is to avoid friendly fire even with the precision of a mouse and keyboard)
When I first got Oblivion it was for xbox, so ever since then that scheme has been what's familiar.
I would hate to rain on everyone's parade regarding, "PC will have better graphics!" Fuck you consoles. Fuck you.
The ground texture still bugs me. It's still the same as in gamebyro, that's like a punch in the stomach for me. Gamebyro is just so god damn ugly, god. And I don't mean the whole creation engine, just the ground texture. On this picture mainly. The leaves remind me too much of fallout 3. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Wkm2I.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I think the anisotropic filtering may be sort of shitty on consoles. This is a closer shot and it looks better to me (talking about the area across the bottom of the picture..) Not* the same texture, but w/e. That one in the pic above may just not be a great texture. Well, on the positive side, I may be available to play this on my laptop.
Until I see the game on my screen in the flash. I will not judge based on screen shots. Most games are beautiful in motion compared to their screen shots.
I think you misunderstood that article. His point was that due to the distance you sit from your tv when playing on consoles it will appear the same.
I would hate to rain on everyone's parade regarding, "PC will have better graphics!"

"I'd say it scales up in all the ways you'd expect," he told journalists at a demo last week when asked how the 360 version (used at the showcase) compares to PC. "All of our art's really high-res. There are little things we do with all of our games on PC and the PC texture sizes are going to be as big as you can make them and you can pump the resolution up obviously." "But most of that... What we want at the end of the day is that the game looks the same. The benefit you get is when you're playing a PC game you're playing this far away [demonstrates a short distance], when you're at home on your console you're usually sitting about six feet away so the game looks the same."
If anything he says that the consoles won't look like complete shit as compared to the PC versions, and that the PC version graphics will scale up as expected. He says that one of the reasons that the console versions look the same is because you sit further away from the screen. Edit: Fookin' ninjas
It looks fine. The draw distance is godly, and that's all I care about. Not zooming in on the ground texture.

Fuck you consoles. Fuck you.
Reading the article implies that the title is really taken out of the context. The way Todd is saying it is basically "PC will be waaay better, but console players won't notice that much since they're sitting far away from their screen".
I would hate to rain on everyone's parade regarding, "PC will have better graphics!"
From what I'm getting from reading the article they kinda mean the other way around in terms of which is the main good looker, on how despite the "lower-res textures" the consoles have, it still looks like the PC version since they optimized the average playing distance between couch players on consoles and desk players on the PC.
Fookin' ninjas
It's the thought that counts.
I wish Daggerfall was a Steam Game.
